the second this was revealed it was obvious this would not play as a tag game

Actual tag games are a massive normalfag filter which is why this is designed to be playable as a 1v1 game, they know the vast majority of players dont want to learn more than one character

reminder in the mvc3 beta people thought chun li was S tier because jwong beat everyone using her, and this was before ultimate gave her a ton of buffs so she could actually play the game

this isnt meta this is the very foundation of the game's design. If you give no reason/benefit to tagging people will not tag because they can instead invest all of their time to honing 1 character. The game treats the members of your team as things to unlock as you're playing making it feel even more like youre playing a 1v1 game with just upgraded calls. The only reason to actually tag is MAYBE for matchup purposes. Doesnt help that tags bascially just do the same fucking thing regardless of character.
