Anybody who thinks the prices are gonna go back to normal ever again is delusional. This is just like it was with GPUs. Artificial scarcity to drive up prices, then lower them a tiny bit to the "corrected" prices so everyone thinks they're getting a good deal.
Look forward to $300 ram and storage moving forward.
>>
>>727745257
how'd you shove all those SSDs up your ass?
>>
>>727746534
>This is just like it was with GPUs.
GPU prices have already come down for the holidays. The RAM price increase will bring them back up again for a while in 2026. People fail to realize if you buy a lot of expensive stock and then its just sitting in your warehouse for years steadily losing value, nobody is going to stick with high prices forever. There comes a point in time you have to sell with lower price to cut your losses.

AI companies are not given bank loans, they only survive on investor money. At the same time they're operating at tremendous losses because data centers and electricity bills are too high. The moment bubble bursts and investors pull their money, most AI companies die a quick death.

man this whole AI thing could be a giant ruse by microsoft to finally get it's walled garden, they trick everyone to buy up all the world's components off the promise of AGI so then consumers are forced onto their cloud.

Employed White people can. Maybe if the hobby shrinks a bit and employed White people become the audience, the hobby can repair some of the damage done to it these last few years. It wasn't so long ago that, by law, you couldn't charge for things that had been AI generated because it was AI created and therefore the AI "owned" the rights to it so it couldn't be copyrighted. That's why all of the websites and things for years had to offer AI related shit for free.
Obviously Jews started getting involved and investing their (someone else's) shekels and they wanted a return from their (someone else's) money so they (Jews) could make a profit (which they kept after using someone else's money) then some other law making Jews said "actually you can charge people money now haha"

I can suggest an equation that has the potential to impact the future:

E = mc2 + AI

This equation combines Einstein's famous equation E=mc2, which relates energy (E) to mass (m) and the speed of light (c), with the addition of AI (Artificial Intelligence). By including AI in the equation, it symbolizes the increasing role of artificial intelligence in shaping and transforming our future. This equation highlights the potential for AI to unlock new forms of energy, enhance scientific discoveries, and revolutionize various fields such as healthcare, transportation, and technology

Thats going to change because Disney and Universal are suing Midjourney. When Disney wins that lawsuit, all AI companies will get rid of all Disney-related prompts altogether. You can't prompt Disney princesses or Donal Duck in the future even if you tried. AI doesn't magically make old copyright laws go away.

I know since i recently had to buy a gpu to upgrade an old computer, and Microcenter had 25+ of just about every model of gpu, especially Nvidia's.
its was the most gpus ive seen n the last almost 10 years. Just look at how long it took Intel to catch up with the bottom tier of what AMD and Nvidia have been releasing and now copy that to every other component in this corrupt network. The government is giving an unlimited stream of funds to any AI focused company. These companies are forced to buy the newest hardware to remain competitive.

i think the current play is America's oil supply lines are risky/insufficient if they intend to fight china, so they need Venezuelan oil first. the US has already said it would destroy TSMC if china took full control over Taiwan. Likely why we started building Chip factors in America at the end of Biden's term.
if we have ai, oil, and chips, then we can break china's knees with random proxy wars on its borders.

For an entirely new company, it would take at absolute minimum like 5 years to even get the factories up and running at a halfway decent level. In reality it's probably closer to 10 years when you combine that you also need to find the best workers and R&D people. And that's not even getting into how much money it would cost before you see a single cent of profit.

No, actual AGI will give power to billionaires and take it away from the people, because it's the last thing billionaires actually need from the people. Food is largely automated, manufacturing is largely automated, billionaires own all the real estate they might ever need, there's nearly infinite amount of entertainment, now they can just let most of us starve. Pick out a couple dozen electricians and plumbers who'll get private jetted between billionaires' residences, let the rest cannibalize each other.

Genuinely nothing else but all the big tech companies losing a lot and few going bankrupt. That would obviously affect the rest of the economy, but bubbles are "bubbles" in the sense that them popping should return things to normalcy. However, the current stock market and "line must go up" mentality has made it so that the whole economy is getting bubbly, so if they just keep moving the bursting forwards, the consequences will become more and more dire. Most economists thought COVID would have been a good place for a reset, but money printers denied that.

So likely not, unless the elites really want to.

Yeah quantum computing is coming and it's gonna be extremely expensive. So expensive that it prices most people out of the market. But most manufacturers will rather make those parts for that and get paid lots of money, rather than up the supply of normal chipsets for RAM and SSDs, which basically means we'll be doing stadia levels of stream gaming in 5-10 years. Maybe 2 if poors are lucky.

This was set in motion a century ago when the (((Dodge brothers))) sued Ford and won, establishing shareholder primacy as the law. Now companies MUST make the line go up, forever, or they have failed their fiduciary duty to their shareholders.
But infinite growth is impossible. Nothing can grow forever. Not a company or even an entire economy.

You can remove all ability to get your hands on anything more powerful than a phone, as far as hardware is concerned. Price hardware out of the consumer's hand opens them up to "renting" machines for stream gaming/surfing the internet where you can't put any protections or ad blockers in place. Meaning you see all their ads and pay them for the privilege.

If I had to guess on the next move it's going to be moving away from buying PCs and hardware all together and trying to push subscription services and low latency internet at a cheaper cost. I've already seen gigabit unlimited internet go down 30 dollars a month in my area alone they're starting to ramp up on it I think.

When Gavin Newsom wins in 2028 he'll drop those dumb fucking tariffs and import restrictions on Chinese parts and we'll be able to buy things like ram again for better prices.

Thing with tariffs is it basically gives a check to companies to jack up prices to as high as they want....I mean that's the purpose of tariffs.. companies that aren't tariffed jack up prices and become more profitable so they can invest more.

Anyways. Once those tariffs are gone and import restrictions are gone companies will be forced, by market pressure, to drop prices.

Inb4 "hey fgt the zips raised prices to" very true but the Chinese government has increased subsides for production of computer components. It's there traditional MO, find a market vertical and subsidize the supply chain. So you'll see a lot of new industrial capacity for computer parts out of china over the next year-2 years and if a dem wins and drops restrictions and tariffs you'll see prices come right back down. Already the Chinese are expanding manufacturing capacity and breakneck speeds for computer components from SSD to ram etc etc

text-based AI is genuinely good. I can paste a 10,000 page document into chatgpt or deepseek and it will read it instantly and tell me where the thing I'm looking for is. I can ask AI to write me a regular expression catered to my parameters and it will do it. I can ask AI to solve this math problem I have and it will do it unlike that piece of shit wolfram alpha that never works, fuck you wolfram
these are the kinds of home uses AI is great for. AI is NOT great for replacing human creativity.

They can see the future that is coming and are doing everything they can to get off earth before they get dragged down with the masses.
Unfortunately, none of us are going to be able to hitch a ride. All you can do is plan for the end and hope you can ride the wave.

NASA will keep chugging along and will probably be the one to discover a habitable world, at which point all the billionaires will jump at the chance to go there. However, the The Habitable Worlds Observatory is scheduled to launch in 2040, and that is 15 years from now. The same people who are working for them now I imagine, as well as anyone else they decide to hire. As well as AI. I think you are letting your hatred of the ultrawealthy blind you to the fact that regardless of how morally bankrupt they are people will still work for them. If this is not the case, then they would have no employees now.
No one gets a job because of a principled moral stance, they get a job because they need the money. This fact is not going to change.

we are going back to the old days of having a terminal which connects to a mainframe. Other anons guessed right with the bet of "cloud computing" and alike, but generally it is a regression. The age of your personal compute power was exceptional, the dream had to end sooner or later.

>>727746379
>So where does the economy go from here?
It's going to spin closer to the central drain before going down the shitter completely.
And then it gets to enjoy the next decade or so in raw sewage.

The situation is beyond recoverable.
The AI industry represents upwards of 60% of the entire US GDP.
It cannot fail because that would mean the entire country implodes.

What you're going to get is a series of half-baked attempts at halting a modern-day Fall of Rome, which are going to end up accelerating the issue because they will make the AI industry even more anchored and resident in the economic cycle. You're looking at, basically, a slow-burning controlled meltdown. Until it can no longer be contained, and we get to a Chernobyl level event.

>The dumbest LLM is already more intelligent than the smartest human on the planet.
It isn't. LLMs don't have intelligence. They are performing dumb, rote pattern-matching; taking input and matching it to input from their training set and outputting an assembly of what words 'looks most like a match' according to the data they were trained on.

If you were to anthropomorphize that concept (which you shouldn't, because it's a stupid thing to do and plays into the bait of the AI tech bros using terms such as 'hallucination' to make these dumb non-intelligent systems seem more human, but let's say you WOULD anyway) then a close analogy would be you going in for open heart surgery and the surgeon in charge admitting they've never done this kind of surgery before; don't know jack about the procedure, have no experience with it, don't know what concepts or challenges it involves, but hey-- they've read 3 very thick books about all the theory; so it'll be fine...
>>
>>727751373

>>727751984
Yes. There's like a 30% deficit in production of copper and existing stock is already dwindling. If the pace of expansion of data centres to feed the AI beast is kept, we are also at risk of running out of copper as a resource before we even run out of oil.

The Muskrat is going to have to make good on his promises on colonizing Mars and establishing space mining, or we're going to see some actual real live world war over natural resources in our lifetime.

(Or y'know- the world can collectively decide to pull the plug on the failed AI experiment, swear off any use of it, and let just the US burn itself down.)
