I started messing with pictos into the post game and the game became x1000 better. Wish I tinkered with the system earlier but they really want you to break the game post game since you never have enough points.

I made my Sciel giving powerful and shell when she does her aoe rush ability and she also gets 6 SP refunded plus a bunch of other goodies.

On that note I hate the SMT modifiers on skills. I hate them in smt games I hate them here, at least SMT games have the excuse you usually unlock them linearly so when you get a multi hit low level skill at lvl 80 you are tempted to get it. in this game if you save your points you can get a severe skill early game that might just be shit. Show me the god damn modifiers.

You can tell some skills are meant for the early game but again, without modifiers you cant tell. Its also shitty to get builds in the mid and early game, they should improve on that on their next games.

The game is pretty creative when it comes to combo, sure there are optimal strats but its so open and so many options everyone can break the game in their own way, its just comes a tad too late in the game to be fun to experiment.

I also hate how the game handles post game overworld. You run around everywhere seeing if the last zone you beat made the next zone yellow and not red. I get having level overlays above zones and enemies is immersion breaking but so is running to that overworld boss or hidden zone for the 11th time. I think some zones of the post game should had been included in the main game.

Lastly, I think every action jrpg with these kind of menus should take a note of KH2 crit mode and just hard lock the hardest move while giving you goodies like extra initial SP and late game pictos. I also think they should tone down the oneshots early and mid game that might come both ways. Late game oneshots feel fine because you usually can revive someone at 100% hp while setting up pictos buffs and have the other character do damage while also getting used to enemy moveset, it doesnt disrupt gameplay flow that much but its a slog sometimes early game.
