>graphics don't matter!This is retarded. Graphics aren't the only thing, or the most important thing, but they are a thing. Video games are a visual medium, and presentation is a factor. There have been plenty of games like Shenmue that I have enjoyed more precisely because they were such a technical spectacle at the time. It can't make a terrible game great, but it can improve a game. I still remember being floored by the OXM Chaos Theory demo disc, it 100% added something. I think part of why zoomoids are so anti-graphics is that they just haven't seen any sort of big deal advances yet. 2077 with full path tracing looks amazing, but the jeets here are playing on $500 charity boxes (hence all the tech illiterate 'optimization' whining) so they'll never see it. Everything else is on some console that is always a decade lagging or more if it's Nintendo. They don't know what it was like to see that Dreamcast display for the time time when you were used to an N64, or what that leaked handcam E3 G-Man demo was like. Modern game devs have kind of forgotten how to do graphics.
