Dead Space 1 has better atmosphere but 2 is the more fun game. I prefer 2 over 1.

Dead Space fans don't deserve Dead Space

Dead Space fans are burning in hell and they deserve it. I've liked Dead Space 1, 2, 3 and Dead Space: Extraction but still wouldn't consider myself a hardcore fan of the franchise. Not buying Dead Space 3 when you retards could've kept the franchise going is the biggest L of all time and I hope you retards continue to suffer with not having more Dead Space and being boomer tier "remember the time" losers

You didn't buy Dead Space 3 and killed the franchise you supposedly like, but hey, you get to act like smug faggots about your dead franchise.

And reminder that the Dead Space remake sold less than Calisto Protocol and there will be no Dead Space 2 remake you pathetic friendless RE4fags.

tl;dr: both
The franchise is the perfect Alien film analogy in game form. First is goated, slower-paced and isolating, and regarded very highly; second is faster, louder, action-packed, far-and-away different from most sequel examples being "first (thing) but again"; third is considered a complete crash by many, even if they admit some elements are good or even great, yet it still has a smattering of enjoyers.
Each one is different enough from the other in content that they both can reign in one's heart, the first as horror-with-a-dab-of-action, the second as action-with-a-dab-of-horror. Personally, I've replayed 2 many times yet only replayed 1 maybe three or four times, and yeah a large factor to that are the problems with running it these days*. That may indicate -- at least in my tiny sample size -- that 2 is the winner simply by accessibility/un-jank, but my instinct tells me they're on even footing in terms of "best". A portion of that might be due to my atmospherically-favorite chapter in 2 being the return to the Ishimura, though.
Anyways, thanks for reading this shit, kill all remakefaggots and trannies.
*Yes yes, inb4 "faggot cannot into Googling easy fixes", even then I'd have one or two show-stopping issues, usually that one early door being impassable despite having framerate externally capped. Doesn't help I'm a penguinfag and too lazy to better configure Proton, I guess.

>I've replayed 2 many times yet only replayed 1 maybe three or four times
Complete opposite for me. When I first finished 1 I immediately wanted to replay it on harder difficulty and do challenge runs. I didn't feel the same with 2 and rarely replay it.
>>
>>727749650
2 by a longshot
1 is great but too slow pacing when you already know the in and out of the game, its not THAT replayable compared to 2 which has superb combat and pacing.
>>
Dead Space is literally perfect as a standalone.
- Learning of Nicole's death
- Isaac killing the Hive-Mind and escaping Aegis VII
- The revelation that he had finally snapped from his experiences aboard the USG Ishimura along with being in-close proximity to the Marker
It's just great.
Dead Space 2 was really good aswell.
- Isaac undoing everything that happened to him
- saving ellie
- coming to terms with his inevitable death after destroying the Marker
- getting a second chance to survive
- seeing Ellie sitting besides him on the shuttle contrasting the end of the first Dead Space when Nicole jumpscared him

I really cant accept Dead Space 3 as canon, its just so bad despite being "fun", it completely nullified everything that happened in the first and second game which doesn't sit right with me because Dead Space 2 ended on such a fulfilling high-note.

Despite /v/ shitting on the 2023 remake I still think it did a really good job bridging the first and second game, even if there's probably not going to be a Dead Space 2 remake.

The series deserved to die if Dead Space 3 was any indication of where the IP was being taken. Better to let go than watch EA continue to rape it more and more.

This is like when someone pointed out to me Bonham's squeaky bass pedal on Led Zeppelin's Since I been loving you and I can never unhear it.
>>
>>727753509

I have to agree with this post by and large. I can't pick a favorite between the first two because they're both good in different ways. Also yes fuck the remake, EA can eat shit and die for dragging the IP's corpse out of the dirt when their unchecked retardation put it there in the first place.
>>
>>727749950
Turning a single player horror series into a co-op game was a stupid fucking decision and the series deserved to die for that.
>>
There is no debate. The 1st is one of the best horror games ever made. The 2nd leans into all the worst excess of AAA games, big stupid action set pieces that take away player agency (oooh big train goes CRASH) that if you fail once immediately lose all impact and become tedious. The encounters suck, boring linear corridors and I could count no less than 4 or 5 sections where you are stuck in an open room, elevator, the top of a truck or whatever, with no cover while waves of enemies spawn. Boring bullshit, one of my biggest disappointments
The one saving grace was the stalker AI which was legitimately spoopy

Then don't be an obnoxious fanboy who begs for remakes, sequels or reboots of Dead Space. Just shut the fuck up
>>
>>727755347

I have never done any of that. In fact I simply don't give EA money and haven't since I bought Dead Space 2.
>>
>>727755383
Okay then my disdain is directed towards people who are like "what could've been!!1 dead space 3 should've been le ebin epic if not for evil ea! (I still buy their games doe)"
>>
>>727755291
congratulations everything you've said in this post is wrong.
>>
>>727754821
Honestly if they ever remade Dead Space 2 I'd hope they get rid of the surgical machine segment at the end of the game, I hated doing that because it was unpredictable trash. They could always take the liberty of letting you do it yourself or finding some random part in a side quest that auto does it for you
