I just resubbed and started playing XI again after a pretty long absence. I didn't really miss it when I wasn't playing it, I didn't think about it much, but it hit me one day that the game was exactly what I was looking to play but couldn't really find the past few months. The atmosphere is honestly amazing, and it really is SE at what I believe is their absolute peek. I had briefly looked into maybe picking up Dawntrail when I assumed it'd be dirt cheap, but of course it wasn't. Fuck you then forever XIV suck my dick. Anyway I tried to make a /v/ LS last time I did this that kinda fizzled out, but a few of us are still here and I'd love to have some more /v/ fags in the LS. I tried XI for the first time earlier this year. Was a complete bitch getting a download for my region and setting up an account. Anyway, while there were definitely things I liked about XI, some of the mechanics are so ancient it was too annoying to play in 2025AD. I said enough of this shit after I slogged 40 minutes across a map to get a key item, slogged 40 minutes back to where I need to deliver it, and it turns out I didn't have the key item because my inventory was full and the game never thinks to tell me this important fact. Shit, I'm not asking for much, but I need some basic QoL like that.
I also recently picked up FFXI after dodging Dawntrail because somehow I just knew it was going to be shit.I'm 120 or so hours into FFXI now and it has me hooked like nothing else. Done the Zilart and Promathia expansions and now I'm dipping my toes in the latter ones. I want to dick Arcelia so hard god damn.
