Animal Crossing is the real big third pillar
It makes more sense in the context that the original Kirby Air Ride got a 61, and going to a 80 is a massive improvement (and in general the Kirby series ranges in the 71-80 range). On the contrary, Metroid Prime 4 going to a 80 where the rest of the mainline series is a 90-97 is a big decrease.The general idea is right though, the aggregate number is a informative baseline, but is basically always useless in forming your own opinion. If your opinions line up directly with metacritic trends overtime, you are probably a sheep.

Metroid has always been a better (on average) franchise than Mario and Zelda, but the former is the #1 game franchise in popularity (either it or Pokémon) and the latter has a cult-like status in gaming.Metroid has always been the most vulnerable one out of the three, which is why Prime 3's 7/10 from EDGE didn't cause the same drama as Twilight Princess' 8.8/10 from GameSpot did, even though Prime 3 was better than 7/10 and Twilight Princess was indeed 8.8 (at best), "critics" are extremely afraid of giving a main Zelda game less than optimal scores, 3D Mario has an almost comparable shield, Metroid does not.>tl;drPrime 4 is probably a solid 7.5 without the Nintendo Bonus, Zelda and Mario (including Mario Kart) can get up to 1.5 Nintendo Bonus points.
