Most people don't actually want old school looking graphics other than novelty.
>>
"most people" are retarded normie NPCs with no taste that just mindlessly consoom AAA garbage on brand recognition alone.

Trying to appeal to majority is fucking dumb and so are you. Go back.

Are you willing to watch a movie that's black and white with no sound even though most people now don't want to?
>>
>>727776383
Nothing about that game's aesthetic is old school looking.
>>
>>727776463
Appealing to the majority is how gaming got out of it's crash. Nobody wanted overpriced shovelware.
>>
>>727775846
Old school graphics means that more of the budget can go into story and/or gameplay.
>>
>>727775846
Graphics peaked at Gamecube graphics

The technological difference is separated by a century retard. Even a retro video game had sound and color

Still old school.

this is correct
but OP is retarded and misses the point. People don't specifically want *worse* graphics. People want the graphics to be less of a priority over gameplay and optimisations. Nobody would complain about graphicsfags if the games those graphics were attached to were consistently better. Just look at how often we have TECHNOLOGY threads here. There used to be some vague optimism that games would continue to improve with things like physics and details alongside being pretty to look at. Once upon a time, you could look at something in a new game like accurately modelling liquid in a container, or working mirrors, and dare to dream that those things would start becoming standard as the tools and hardware improved.
Instead we got meme 8k raytracing benchmarks that nobody can actually run but looks nice in presentations to investors
>>
The funniest thing about grafixfags is that since 2008 or so they're focussing on the smallest improvements that the human eye can barely perceive.

Notice how eveeyone in that pic looks like a subhuman and only the guy(and the redhead girl) have vaguely human physiognomy. And the vaguely human guy is suppose to stand up and petition something to his spiritual overlord on behalf of that herd of subhumans.

Christcucks painted this pic didnt they.

i prefer early 2000s pc graphics because the visual clarity is higher.

It's supposed to have a good fitting art style, or be compatible with its themes such as tactical-shooters and race simulators.

unreal and unity are free. decent graphics and a modern engine are not things that take away from story or gameplay.
>>
>>727780108
The engine may be free, but you still need to buy the assets unless you make them yourself
