I always heard it was bad but I had no idea it was this bad. Druckmann is a fucking retard

Did he not accomplish exactly what he set out to do, which was to annoy and disgust fans of the first game?

it sucks cause the gameplay is verye good

Awful. The ending of the game is literally Ellie not being able to play guitar anymore because of her two missing fingers. And then that’s it. You are strumming the guitar and it’s making these awful noises and then it goes to the credits. I couldn’t believe it

Same thing as ASoIaF and GRRM. Subverting expectations for the sake of it, undercutting your own story and characters in the process and kill your fanbase's goodwill.

TLOU1's MP was fantastic.
A Live Service TLOU MP could have been their golden goose... Maybe... I'm not too sure now because ND has really given a lot of people the ick withTLOU2. It was so woke and pretentious that it became a meme and they are only doubling down with Intergalactic. I think ND and Sony Studios in general are done.
>>
>>727784742
I don't really see Intergalactic being a Concord tier flop but yeah it'll probably do worse than TLOU2 after it ruined their reputation. Or rather after Niel ruined their reputation. TLOU2 with a MP mode would have been worth the price of buying it on it's own.
>>
naughty dog died with Uncharted 4 as far as i'm concerned. next IP looks pozzed as hell too from the trailer.
>>
>>727782782
You'd expect that TLOU "Part" 2 would use the same player character as the first "part".
You'd expect the scene you already saw, wherein an evil psychopath wants to harvest a little girl's body for mad science, would be canon to the sequel plot without being retconned.
You'd think Joel, a one-man army, would be able to beat a girl in a fight.
You'd think, after slaughtering hundreds of people on your revenge quest, you would kill the person who triggered the revenge quest in the first place.
>>
>>727784902
How would /v/ rank the Uncharted games? I'd still say 2 > 3 > 4 > 1

>>
>>727784919
>You'd expect that TLOU "Part" 2 would use the same player character as the first "part".

There are many, many sequels which don't feature the same characters. Some even take place in the past, future or in a completely different setting

>You'd expect the scene you already saw, wherein an evil psychopath wants to harvest a little girl's body for mad science, would be canon to the sequel plot without being retconned.

You're not even pretending to have an argument here. You're living firmly in your own world, expecting others to play along

>You'd think Joel, a one-man army, would be able to beat a girl in a fight.

What the fuck are you even talking about? You're talking about a game you haven't even seen a yt playthrough of

>You'd think, after slaughtering hundreds of people on your revenge quest, you would kill the person who triggered the revenge quest in the first place.

Good thing the game has nuance, too bad it's lost on morons
>>
>>727785408
After how they've reacted to the negative reception to the initial trailer I'd say a hard no.
>>
>>727785780
>Good thing the game has nuance,
You would struggle to comprehend a picture book. The story is dragging to an end, and Druckmann has written himself into a corner as Ellie finally gets her hands on Abby. Every other scene in the entire game has made it abundantly obvious that these two are unrepentant murderers, and they have more than enough justification to kill each other. No reasonable scene could play out where they both survive. However, Druckmann has written both of them as his pet characters, so he refuses to bite the bullet and kill one of them off. Thus, Ellie's personality pulls a 180 in under a minute, and she walks.
It's the most classically terrible writing in existence. Everything in the story points to A, but the writer wants B, so B.

>>
>>727786110
So the conclusion is Joel dying, Ellie and Abby traveling across the country killing a million people for no reason? Lmfao no wonder they shot his ideas down during the first game
>>
>>727786110
>Every other scene in the entire game has made it abundantly obvious that these two are unrepentant murderers

"Every other scene"? Like the one where Abby tells her group to let Ellie go even when she swears she'll kill them all? Or whenever Abby decides to put herself in danger for the sake of two kids (who belong to a faction she's been fighting for years)? What about Ellie and the aftermath of her torturing and killing Nora, does she look and act like an "unrepentant killer"?

>and they have more than enough justification to kill each other

See, that's the thing about nuance: if you don't see it, you don't understand or appreciate the story for what it is. Feel free to sperg out, it won't make up for the fact you're retarded but you'll feel better about yourself

>>727786236
>they also said they "didn't know" why Ellie let Abby go or something along those lines, so they just did it for cliffhanger

I'm sure you can provide a source for that claim. Everything about the finished product says otherwise (there are clues as to what's going to happen as early as the first playable Jackson segment)

>>727786783
>So the conclusion is Joel dying, Ellie and Abby traveling across the country killing a million people for no reason?

I'm afraid you only reach that conclusion if you're retarded but at that point you have much, much bigger problems in your life than complaining about a story in a video game

I just played Part 1 for the first time and finished it last night. I thought it was really great. The story is super standard, but it's plenty serviceable and is able to be carried by the genuine chemistry between the characters and the natural dialogue. I hate video game stories for the most part because of the character interactions specifically. The characters talk like people, yell over eachother, etc.

But what had continually impressed me throughout the playthrough was the environment. God damn. Sneaking around the hotel and in the bathroom I walk over a scale on the floor and it goes to 200lbs. That kind of detail is seen throughout the entire game. What I don't see anybody really talk about when it comes to LOU (I think this applies to 2 as well, haven't played it yet) are the real life sets translated into an overgrown apocalyptical wasteland. From Boston, to Pittsburg, Boulder, all of the areas you go through look totally real, and then aged 20 years. I think a lot of kids weren't able to appreciate that when the games released, at least I didn't.
I'm both looking forward to and dreading playing part II. Part 1 has the progressive undertones that I really don't mind but it seems very clear to me that 2 really got into the whole culture war thing of like 2016 on. And I think it sucks to contaminate your story with contemporary politics, especially when it really doesn't collide with the realistic gritty world you've already established. You can see this mind virus continued even further with the show. Not that I've watched it, but I've seen enough to know I'm not interested.
>>
>>727788939
TLOU2 absolutely does that overgrown city aspect infinitely better than 1. It's genuinely one of, if not the best "realistic" graphics games ever in terms of pure visuals and art direction. 2 is plenty enjoyable if you focus more on the gameplay than story cause 2 improves upon it a lot.
>>
>>727788670
>thought-provoking

Not even the first game, which had a good story, was that deep. A child can analyze these games
>>
>>727788939
The second is actually a good game up until it changes POV and the story goes all over the place, tries to introduce a dozen new characters you don't really care about and you just continue playing to see where it leads (nowhere). Abby being a woman is irrelevant

America is such a shithole it's genuinely impossible to date younger girls here because everyone is so weird and neurotic about age gaps. 16-year-old girls will look at you like you like you're Epstein if you try to talk to them (at least the smart, pretty ones. The ghetto ones maybe not but who wants them?)

>>
>>727789526
Yeah I've always thought this but a game's pacing is one of the most under discussed aspects of game design and TLOU2 is one of the worst paced games I've ever played in my life.
>>
>>727789690
Before TLOU2 development many people were against it in forums.
After Left Behind dlc and Unharted 4 it was clear that Neil was high on woke farts.
Joel death was a given due to Neil hard focus on culture war politics.
What nobody expected was how bad the rest of the story is.
In the end Neil won all the awards due to his woke points, good job.
The game sold half of what TLOU or worse, the mp was cancelled for a reason.
On top of that TLOU2 destroyed fans trust into ND, a Studio from the psx times.

>The game sold half of what TLOU or worse

You're delusional.
>>
>>727790000
If I remember correctly: they tried to do an extraction-like game (the rumors were "tarkov-like") and on top off that still meet Naughty Dog's narrative quality. They brought Bungie in and they asked: how are you going to consistently monetize future content with comparable quality and then they realised that they would have to expand their studio beyond their initial scope.

I would bet there was nothing wrong with the actual moment-to-moment gameplay of the multiplayer mode considereing TLOU2 combat is quite good.
>>
>>727793198
One issue I had with Part 2 that I rarely see anyone bringing up is how you spend so much of the game just fucking around on your own. In the first game, you had Joel with Ellie together for most of the game, often with some third companion like Tess, Bill or the brothas. So instead of their dynamics, you now just have Ellie or Abby mumbling things to themselves.
>>
>>727776481
Liberalism is a mental illness
>>
>>727778207

>>
>>727790000
Bungie told Sony and ND what it would take to keep updating an online game to keep it alive ala Destiny and they got scared of the amount of work because they estimated it would be the same as doing another single player game so they decided to do that instead.

>>
If the game was just Ellie, Tommy and jew girl hunting down the crew while Abby is following their steps it would've been a more cohesive story
>>
>>727795798
Honestly they could have done basically anything differently and it would have been a more cohesive story. But Niel is a pretentious hack and wanted to have the parralel between Ellie and Abby to show the player that they're the same by literally making you run through the entire fucking game again from Abby's POV. Heck they could have spliced the 2 intermitently jumping back and forth. Why the fuck did they think having all of Ellie's play out getting all the weapon upgrades and shit only to factory reset you and start again. TLOU2 is the most structurally retarded game ever made.

This section really hammered home how bad the game was, because these two still had good chemistry.

Ellie and Dinah made an absolutely intolerable duo, Abby was impossible to sympathise with because her group were cartoonishly evil and all her friends were cunts. Then 3 out of every 5 documents and pieces of enemy chatter is about being gay, which added to the fact that every main character is some kind of gay starts to feel completely ridiculous.

Ultimately it's about a bunch of pissy morons on self-destructive revenge quests that are impossible to care about one way or the other, and every time they actually confront their own flaws it's so obnoxiously obvious and on-the-nose it's boring to watch.
>>
Dinah is cute
CUTE
>>
>>727797846
The worst part is that that's not even Abby's path in the game.

>travels to the aquarium to ask Owen a question
>travels to the hospital to save some random kid (who cares?)
>travels to their island because the other kid ran away (again, who fucking cares?)
>kid dies, they leave Seattle instead, end of Abby's storyline
