is it worth it to get one of these babies modded and preloaded with 1TB of games in 2025? The one thing that worries me is the stick drift, considering that I couldn't exactly send a console full of pirated shit to Nintendo for repairs

My sticks are fine after 5 years, needed to replace the dpad though, the membrane broke from wear. You don't really hear of stick drift in context of the Switch Lite, it seems the plague of drifting sticks was entirely a Joycon thing. Even still, sticks are so cheap that if it does happen you can replace em for like $20.

I have a Switch Lite but I didn't know you could mod it. I remember I chose the lite because it was cheap but when I tried to look it up, people were telling me only the original switch models were hackable.

Anyway I've "used" it for like 2 years and it hasn't had drift. Mainly played Xenoblade, tears of the kingdom and monster hunter GU.

I believe the modding process for lite requires soldering, which begs the question: if OP can mod a lite, why cant he fix stick drift?

Don't worry too much, anon. As long as you don't play it like a raging neanderthal you'll be fine. It seems that the first year switch joycon sticks were broken as fuck because I own four joycons and only the first year ones had the drift. After nintendo sent me replacements I stopped having drift problems

OP is planning a pre-modded one
Imagine thinking they have the skills to solder
>>
>joycon drift
>Joycon attached forever to the swich
This is retarded

You need to solder a modchip onto it, there's no softmod as far as I know. As it approaches EOL, an exploit is bound to come out though

I actually have done a bit of DIY in my day, but the difference in price between a locked unit and a jailbroken one is less than the cost of a game so to me it's a no brainer

yes, but i would recommend buying the oled instead, only marginally more expensive for something that will last you years, and replacing the sticks on joycons if they drift is exponentially easier
>and preloaded with 1TB of games
fuck no, most people that do this charge up the ass for it, and if something goes wrong they will gouge you even harder
learn to install atmosphere on your own and source your own roms
