The dull empty hubworld ruins Ocarina of Time. It would be a much better game if they removed it.
Correct.
/v/ really is just contrarian opinions for the sake of getting replies huh. pathetic.
>>727792254Wrong. It would feel less like an adventure if Link just warped from the forest to the castle town and so on. The field is mostly empty because that's how fields are and because it's a game with horse riding.
>>727792254It was very cool and impressive in 1998.
If you Kill the first hyrule field you pretty much kill the rest.So no tp, ww or botw.
At the very least it gives you places you can see and get to. Also the game is a million years old, it made compromises that can be understood with that context but games like Prime 4 trying to LARP it without that context make no sense
>>727792415It's only contrary because you have the wrong opinion.
>>727792526If you kill Zelda then you will be just like him!
Twlight Princess literally deboonked this shitty argument 20 years ago.OoT Hyrule Field is the perfect palette cleanser where its just a nice big space between areas where you chill for a bit. It's the perfect downtime between the more condenced areas and helps sell the illusion that the game isn't just a bunch of corridors. If you disagree you don't know shit about good game design. Also don't even try to bring up Prime 4 as your retarded shitty counter example, that game was designed by retards; Nier Automata is an actual good example of another game that does this well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC5HsZt4oNc&list=RDLC5HsZt4oNc&start_radio=1
>>727792554You're just biased.

>>727793578This nigga's debussin
>>727792254I know this is bait, but I actually agree with thisMario 64 doesn't have a fucking empty field and it's actually entertaining exploring the castle
If you constantly roll or use Link's sidestep as you get to places, then you don't actually enjoy the open hubworld of OoT, and you would have a better time if it's removed.
>>727794192Technically outside the castle is open-worldish, it just doesn't have any real options to go anywhere except inside the castle
>>727793578>bussy
>>727792254It should have just been smaller. Did you know that the game was originally going to just be Ganon's Castle? He was already in a winning position and you were going to be coming in at the last second to stop him, going into the trials to free the Sages. They didn't know exactly what they were going to be able to do with the World, so it was going to follow a similar style to Mario 64. It was only later that they realized they actually could do a more sprawling world setup. Hyrule Field though, it only exists to move you from one area to the next and OOT not only had warps from one corner to the other, but it also had other entrances and exits to make the world interconnected. Imagine if OoT required you go back to Hyrule Field after every dungeon and made you do some stupid side shit to access Ganon's tower. People would have shat on it then too, even more then they do now for Hyrule Field being too large and with nothing in it.
>>727792254>>727793089I just realized Nintendo is shitting out the EXACT same formular for the last 28 years
>>727792519Not really, considering visually better games like Megaman legends and spyro were already on the shelves
It's really easy to trick people into thinking your game is good, all you have to do is add a giant empty space for the sole purpose of padding and they eat it up.
>>727794679Took you long enough
>>727794519>Did you know that the game was originally going to just be Ganon's Castle?yes, it's why I'm pointing out the straight facts, just get rid of the hubworld
>>727794679Its fine when fromsoft does it right?
>>727792254I'm convinced. Someone tweet Shigeru about this right now.
