the point of a "D&D-like" is to replicate the experience of playing D&D, and that includes the dice.

Can't be done. I've GMd for 35 years, and every single video game I've played that tries to simulate dice rolls fails. And I think it's because dice rolls are fair, and real dice are not. I have players who simply cannot fail their rolls. They roll like gods. Even when they forget their dice and use mine, they still roll like the gods favour them. I have other players who can't catch a break. They fail at everything they do, because the die simply won't help them. But if these gentlemen play a video game with me (let's say BG3), then all of their luck/unluck just melts away. They average the same as everyone else. All of their specific characteristics when it comes to rolling die disappear. I don't know why, I have no legitimate explanation, and I only have anecdotal evidence. But holy shit there's a huge difference.

So that makes me think you simply cannot simulate die rolls, because a pRNG will never be real dice and there is no way to make them into it. And that is if we ignore the god awful LCG pRNGs, who should never be used for anything, ever.

>we have attached a dildo to your chair so when you play this ass fucking game it's more realistic

why are you playing an assfucking game if you don't want to be fucked in the ass?
there are plenty of games that don't involve assfucking.

Because most games lie about their probabilities. Generally they make things more likely than what the percentage actually says. For example if an attack has a 90% chance to hit, games might make it 99%. Because actual probabilities are more brutal than they look. If you only hit 90% of the time it would feel bad and you would think something was wrong. But no, thats actually how it works, even with 90% chance you would still miss fairly often. So games just lie about the numbers and hide the real numbers in the background.

It's shirmple

You give me a dice system
And I WILL save scum

that way there's no RNG

it hardly matters in morrowind with how fast paced and low stakes combat is, along with positioning and mechanical skill mitigating the rolls

What specifically don't you like about dice (or dice emulation systems) in RPGs?

RNG is RNG. Your players are just cheating at the table dude lmfao.

gamers can't deal with risk mitigation because they're sub 90 IQ mongoloids

Sounds about right. That's specific to you. I once had this player whose character had their hands tied to their back. They tried to escape a prison cell, still with their hands tied to their back, and they were faced with a troll to stop them. They proceeded to kick the troll to death (well, unconscious anyway). They just rolled critical success after critical success. It was like watching someone cheat reality.

Unlikely since it's my dice. I mentioned this before.

dice rolls work better in games focused on pure combat. because if you prepare well enough you will be able to survive the encounters if you have good armor or potions or whatever. so you can still succeed even with unlucky rolls. but dice rolls are shitty when the game has a lot of other types of checks, like speech checks or perception checks or whatever. because its basically just pass/fail and it feels really shitty.
