Just beat Nioh 1, anons. Should I do NG+ (Way of the Strong) or go straight for the DLCs?Also general Nioh thread I guess. Is 2 better than 1 by the way?
You have to do NG+ otherwise you won't survive the DLCs.
>>727797239this but you don't have to do it fully, just play it and find some better equipment and upgrade +x weapons and armor by merging themdlcs are artificial difficulty, I had to cheese some bosses because even with weapons like +6 or 8 I dealt very low damage and died in one or two hits and I didn't want to play the game forever to get very strong weapons
>>727796625>Should I do NG+ (Way of the Strong) or go straight for the DLCsThe DLCs are tuned up difficulty wise but they are doable just from NG. Make a good equipment set and give it a try if you want a challenge.>Is 2 better than 1 by the wayyeah
>>727796625Head into Way of the Strong and to the Request for Ginchyo mission long enough to get a full set of level 150 gear at the new rarity. Then swap back to Way of the Samurai and head into the DLC. You'll get a lot more new stuff from the DLC and beating it lets you more or less skip Way of the Strong and hop into whatever comes after (Wise? Demon? I don't recall the exact order).
You can go right to the DLC if you're good enough. Nioh 2 is just more Nioh. All the weapons in 1 got a few new moves and then the base game of 2 and it's expansions added more weapon types. I'd say it's better overall but the story is probably a bit weaker since you have a blank protagonist. Story isn't really the main thing you should be playing the Nioh games for so it's not a big deal imo. I'd still say the story of 2 is serviceable, it's just more fantasy history autism with your created character caught up in all of it.
>>727797763>hop into whatever comes after (Wise? Demon? I don't recall the exact orderDon't do this, OP. Just beat the DLC and drop the game. It turns into a retarded Diablo game after NG and isn't worth venturing into further
>>727797865Nioh's story is terrible despite being a moviegame. I can't imagine what 2's is like if it's worse. Do they still do shitty cutscenes before and after each level?
>nioh >movie gamefucking retard lmao
yeah that's not getting a (You)
>>727798275They're not "moviegames" whatsoever, not sure why you'd refer to them that way. Yeah, there's still cut-scenes for each main mission.
>>727798351There's like ten minutes of cutscenes per every 15 minute level. https://youtu.be/mcYD4c8nX70?si=HmvVcknuqXMCHwg3
>>727798546the levels are like two hours long on the first try
>>727796625Drop it unless you like retarded number-go-ups.
>>727798575My first run was 11 hours with 3 hours of cutscenes.
>>727797239Wrong. I did the DLCs after beating the main game with C agility because I was a dumbass.
>>727798707Suffer like retard did?
>>727798659mine was 60
>>727798659That seems excessively low, did you just try to sprint through the game as fast as possible? I'm guessing you didn't explore each level, experiment with combat mechanics, or do any side missions.
>>727798659why would you lie on the internet
>>727796625google the revenant gear farm spots in nioh 1, pick one, grind revenants for like 5 minutes then go into the dlc and then go into 2 after.
>>727799578oh and obviously do the revenant farm spot on ng+.
OP here, thanks for the replies. I'm gonna do some NG+ missions and then try the DLC. By the way, am I correct in assuming anything past Way of the Strong is just gonna be more annoying than fun?
>>727800061Depends. I personally liked some of the new enemy additions, and new set bonuses, that become available in the later NG+ cycles. However a lot of people get pretty burnt out by that point. Due to how progression in the later cycles works you can avoid redoing ALL of the missions in one run through, and can mix up mission selection between runs to keep things from getting TOO stale. But in the end it comes down to your own preferences.
>>727800061It's just more difficulties. If you're still having fun and you want harder content, then it'll continue to be fun. I think starting from Demon, some enemies get new moves so that does help keep it fresh. The harder difficulties will push your pure action game skills and/or RPG build-making skills more than the Samurai and Strong difficulties.
>>727800061If you're going to play 2, I wouldn't go whole hog into the first game like that. IMO 2 is a lot better and it does bring back some of the levels from Nioh 1 as side missions.
>>727800061I didn't really find any of the NG+ stuff in Nioh 1 any worthwhile. I had more fun grinding the titles and doing dumb shit like fist only runs where I slap clap slap some fools
>>727797239faggot
>>727797239This is false. I did NG dlcs across 3 different playthroughs.
>>727797239Please dont listen to this shit. I made the mistake of doing ng+ first and getting divine gear. Completely trivialized the dlc and beat every boss on my first attempt.
>>727796625do way of the strong for a bit as the dlcs are difficult in difficulty 1. remember to merge your divine gear since at this point this is how you'll get stronger
What's your wish list for Nioh 3, bros?
>>727802912I'd like to see handguns finally added and I think they might be in since we visit the Bakumatsu period. I'm hoping that skills are able to be set to more inputs as well. Like for 2kat, let me set Water Sword and Whirlwind at the same time instead of having them fight for the same slot. Ninja 2kat has Water Sword as a hold triangle input so I hope that carries over to normal 2kat. There's no need to have Raijin be the only hold move although the lightning version looks awesome.
bump
>>727802912Handguns like the other anon said. I want some new omnyo magic that can be specced into a bit earlier as opposed to omnyo only being viable as basically an endgame build in Nioh 1/2. Since there's a good chance this is the last Nioh game, and the story involves travelling to various times, I want them to bring back as many characters and story threads from the previous games.
>>727802912It would be cool if they took the bayonet from RotR and turned it into a full Nioh weapon, with three stances and everything. Give it an ammo gimmick and ki pulsing recovers ammo or something. Hatchets are a melee/ranged hybrid but a Nioh bayonet could lean more towards specializing in ranged attacks and have weaker melee options.
