>back in the day when Steam had a PS3 signupdid anyone use it? what was it?
I think it had something to do with Portal 2 but I forget
>>727797064csgo and team fortress were also playable on it
>>727797006Because Portal 2 had crossplay with PS3 and it's a great way to inflate your userbase.
>>727797006portal 2 came with a free code for steam as well but the catch was that you had to be new to steam and thats why they made that option, when you clicked that button, you entered your PSN username and the code that came inside the game case, and you could get portal 2 for free, and it also had crossplay (which was pretty notable at the time) CSGO also did this but the crossplay got canceled like literally day 1 of release lol
Gabe went on camera and talked about how much he hated making games for the PS3, so Sony damage controlled by doing some partnership with Valve to improve their brand image. Almost every multiplatform game looked better on the 360 back in the day so Sony worked very hard to try and improve PS3's image.
>>727797472And a week after Portal 2 released was the Sony hack lmao. Gaben himself came out and said never again with consoles let the publishers deal with that headache
>>727797270>>727797472cool, thanks
>>727797006My family couldn't afford one.
>>727797006I miss this UI so much
>>727797472pretty sure the code worked for existing steam users too, I bought portal 2 on ps3 and used mine just finebut ya portal 2 on ps3 had some steam integration, like you'd be getting the pop-ups in the corner of the game when people sent you messages or started playing something and you could shift+tab into the usual steam overlay with the select button
