Aren't you ready to experience your life changing?
>>
>>727803879
I barely play them anyway, doesn't make my life much better.
>>
>>727803879
I am not that attacted to video games to a point that it effects me negatively unironically it's YouTube because I have the smokers mentality I think that watching more video will give me the dope that YTPs would give me.
>>
>>727803879
>quit videogames
>proceed to spend your life with a camera in front of your face
>DUDE IM NOT A LOSER ANYMORE LMAO
>>
>>727803879
>why don't you stop having sex with women?
>aren't you ready to have sex with men?
Thanks but no thanks
>>
>>727803879
>Why haven't you quit videogames yet?
Because they're fun and I like having fun
>>
>>727803879
I genuinely love games, it would ruin my life
>>
>>727803879
I stopped playing video games and I stopped posting on 4chan, except today because i'm bored.
>>
>>727803879
I haven't played video games to the extent where it might be an issue legitimately in over a decade, it's been a couple hours a week since at best, sometimes weeks of nothing, occasionally I'll get wrapped up and spend a few weeks of my free time playing an old game.

Is this not adulthood? Who is in their late 20s/30s still spending every waking moment gayming?
>>
The only think I've played for the last couple of months is a few rounds of Worms with my mates. We had a blast each time, but that's all I played.
>>
>>727803879
Why is it always an asian?
>>
>>727803879
shouldn't these trolling threads be against the rules?
>>
If I were to quit videogames I would have to start drinking heavily or taking drugs so I say games are the lesser evil
>just fix your life bro
I just want to be alone
>>
>>727804291
Yeah, I don't like this "quit" mindset either. Realistically, if you're not addicted long term it shouldn't be an issue. Typically gaming tends to be very dynamic too. I never understood people that play everyday, always, almost like a habit. Perhaps the only exception to that would be competitive games since they're design to exploit our brains, but people should be self conscious of that.
>>
>>727804120
I"m the same with Youtube, music, and 4chan because I will always be in stand by mode and never in the zone to create. But I would never get dopamine by larp as a new age straight edge businesses tycoon like alot of these guys. I think my issue is I'm more afraid to be successful and less high of dopamine.

>>727804353
Asians naturally take everything to a extreme and can find a middle ground and will schedule and itemize everything. Sometimes I game for a hour a day, others 12 a day, sometimes I got a week without gaming. So he replaced gaming on gym, meditation, and self help identity. It works for some but not for others, as I think a deep rooted anger from childhood trauma is actually whats makes people not do what they want and cope with something else as way to get dopimne or runaway in my situation.

The reason why I think this is because of potheads and alcoholics. A lot of them turn to them as a way to run away from reality, I think its some sort of anger that we have to resolve.
>>
>>727804291
I have a family member who will play for 36 hours straight (with food and toilet visits scattered in of course) and do it for months on end. He's been doing that for close to 20 years now and only getting more and more extreme. He'll do just about anything to avoid any type of communication with real people even though he lives with family members (who aren't his parents and are too weak to stop giving him the velvet glove treatment which has clearly only made him worse)
I wish I was being hyperbolic and I wish there was something I could do. Gotten into lots of heated arguments about it with other family members, but everybody refuses to do something.
>>
>>727803879
and do what?
most of the fun activity you do outside is gone
>>
>>727805173
how does anyone still enjoy video games that long lmao

>jerking off or watching youtube fills in the void
wow
>>
>>727806808
Nah, he doesn't get high or drunk or anything. He just sits and plays and plays and plays. Neglecting everything and everyone in his life. I used to have sympathy and wanted to help him, but nobody in the family can help him and now I just want him to get the fuck out of where he's staying because he's not that part of the family's problem.

He's also very good at games, but he always picks the most brain dead idiotic games because "Haha fuck you if I actually made something of myself" attitude is deep in him too.

4chan has done more harm to my life than videogames ever have.

indian thread

Learn and instrument and play with some people, become better at cooking and host a get-together with some friends, pick a hobby that can be social in the real world and not behind a screen. There are tons of things you can do instead.

>quitting video games changed my life for the worse.
>>
>>727807919
I bet half this board are somewhat normal and do things like that all the time, it's not that great.
>>
>>727803879
Instead of quitting video games I just started volunteering. It's a nice experience. I've made a lot of new connections. Probably helps I get off on helping others. Not sexually, but it makes me feel better.
>>
>>727808000
I bet less than half this board do something like that, and it's a million times better than playing video games all day, draining your life away.
I'm not saying some amount of games isn't totally fine, but you have about a million different things you can do that will make your life better.
It's not that great? You're right, it's incredibly great
>>
I stopped playing ffxiv years ago and my life improved drastically. I started playing it again for Dawntrail and my life trended downwards again. Put it down for good months ago and immediately saw improvements again.
>>
>>727803879
Ok Chang can I have your ram sticks?
>>
>>727808197
People here genuinely play games? I'm only really here because games are an important part of the culture war.
>>
>>727808197
Do you really think being with friends and family or cooking is rare? It's alright but depends on the situation, video games are also alright but depends on the game

Anti-vidya sentiment is government propaganda. Instead of going out and blowing money at local businesses you stay inside with a foreign machine playing foreign games. Even worse if you don't have sex. Governments want you pumping out as many future renters and taxpayers as possible and spending all of your money instead of saving it. Worse still if you pirate, use open source software, adblock, etc. A magic box that gives you tremendous value per hour compared to most other products and skips all of the middle men is an existential threat to the market. They hate if you are happy just sitting at home not spending money they hate it more than anything.
>>
>>727808393
For the people who come here all the time? Yeah, it's rare.
You're right, it all depends on context and all that, but you're WAY better off almost 100% of the time doing something like that instead of playing video games all day every day. It's pure life drain.
>>
>>727804120
Same, unironically playing videogames feels like too much of an effort/commitment at this point, I just watch YouTube videos for the most part. What stage of fried out dopamine receptors is this?
>>
>>727803879
I feel video games is the least of the poisons I've been taking lately, 8 hours phone screentime, 4chan and watching too much YouTube comes first into the list.

Compared to that, I play videogames like 1, max 2 hours at night. It could be a healthy hobby for me, I'm not on the level of Chinese/Korean fuckers that play League for 10 hours a day like I suspect the case of that faggot in your pictire went through.
>>
>>727808274
I wish you could convince my nephew to stop playing it and come back to the real world for once.
>>
>>727808670
>What stage of fried out dopamine receptors is this?
I don't know but it's similar to smoking drugs you will keep doing more and more to get that hit that doesn't come.
>>
>>727808670
I don't think you have fried out dopamine receptors. I think a lot of people who are in the same position as you are just too old to dedicate so much time to video games. You're too old for that shit and you know it, but you don't have anything else going in your life that you should have at this point. So you just keep droning on.
>>
>>727808649
Looking at it black and white like that is just childish. After a dinner with friends it's always nice to get home and play video games. Playing too much video games might be bad but other people can also be draining
>>
>>727808649
spending time with other people is infinitely more draining than playing games.
i'm sick of even people i love after like an hour. I'm convinced that people who don't value alone time have problems with themselves they can't handle.
>>
my life is great why would I want to change it
>>
>>727805775
Work at Walmart or enlist to die in some foreign war.
That's what all these boomer threads are about.
>>
Video games aren't something you "quit". They're something you lose time for as new opportunities become available to you.

But if those opportunities never present themselves, you won't quit.
>>
>>727808947
What about it was childish? I told you you're right it's all about context. There are times when other people get grating and there are times when playing a game for an hour or two is great.
What I'm saying is that almost 100% of the time, not dedicating close to every waking hour or your life playing videos games is better.
Especially if you're sitting in your parents basement, on somebody else's dime, wasting your life away. Not contributing anything or in anyway to the people who enable your "lifestyle"
I may be generalising, and there's always exceptions etc, but that's my opinion.
People here always going into mega defense mode and/or become extremely defeatist when somebody even mentions trying to do something positive with your life instead.
>>
>>727809293
There's a huge gap between "somebody who doesn't value alone time is a freak" and "I can't be with people I love more than an hour!"
I'm not saying being with other people can't be grating as fuck, but you're definitely the weirder person in this case by a lot.
>>
>>727809505
How are those opportunities going to present themselves when that person is sitting in a basement playing video games constantly?
>>
>>727809542
Yeah, you may be generalizing a lot. "you should quit video games forever" is a lot different from "maybe don't spend every minute of your life playing video games"
>>
>>727808765
I can't blame any young men from wanting to escape from the real world into video games. Unfortunately, xiv might be one of the worst places to escape to. Full of troons and other mental patients. It's his life to waste. If he was meant to come to his senses, he will. Don't worry too much about him.
>>
>>727807919
Where are these social activities that actually have a lot of people, aren't cliquish, and don't cost an arm and a leg?
>>
>>727809793
Have you considered why they play video games all the time? Because they have no other choice. Most people like this have been social outcasts since childhood.
>>
>>727809293
Humans were not designed for a lot of alone time, our ancestors lived in large tribes for a reason
>>
>>727810713
You could say that about any aspect of modern life
>>
>>727807919
