The Last Good RPG
>>739350947wish you didnt have to consult a wiki for optimal play though
>>739350947It's okay. Currently taking a break from it due to jarpig fatigue, but i'll likely finish it before the end of this year.
>>739350947jrpgs arent rpgs
>>739350947Think I somehow got this for free on Steam. Forgot I had it.
i have 200 hours in this game and ive never beaten it
i really liked that game>screenshots from 2013has it really been that long?i don't even think you can buy it for pc anymore
>has an anti-grinding level up system that will fuck you >Unless you grind in specific areas to a specific level I am a brainlet so I don't really get it, but I ran into a wall my first playthrough but by following a leveling guide my second was trivial.
>>739356596that was removed that in the pc versionunless the "remastered" versions brought it back
>>739356316Pretty sure they delisted it a week before announcing/releasing the remastered versionThought they would have it on pc by now, so you might as well pirate if you can't get it
>>739356635you can still fuck up, but you have to go full retard grinding comparatively to the original xbox version
>>739350947>Bullshit class mechanic that never explain>Bullshit quest chain that you can miss if you progress story too far>Bullshit battle that you can't tell your character what to do>Bullshit battle rank system that never explainYep, gaming time
>>739350947I accidentally missed one quest that cucked me out of the true version of the final boss so I had to start all over again. I'm pretty sure I completely forgot all the nuances and shit and I'm not looking forward to grinding crabs to power level again
>>739357426Kino, actually.
>>739351949same, I've tried to start the game a few times but I usually lose interest a dozen hours in. Something just always comes up that I want to do more.
>The Filter
I really liked this game's battle mechanics (except the timed button inputs, those suck). I played through the main story and did the sidequests I could find.can't remember why I didn't do the true final boss stuff. Did it require you do to all those menial "kill x enemies" chores? That seemed pretty lame.also I never did anything with those materials that mr digger harvested. What a waste of time
>>739360024No the guild tasks aren't required for it
>>739350947I keep seeing it mentioned but how does grinding too much soft lock you in this game exactly?
>>739360202The more you fight the less rewards you get and enemies become stronger while unlocking new party members and new items. In original version it punished you for being halfway decent unless you took specific steps to outpace the difficulty. In remastered version you have to grind like it's a Korean mmo to get punished.
>>739351949Pretty sure it was in a humble bundle back in the day
I remember eagles nest absolutely pushing my shit in, after finally passing I just lost all motivation. Perhaps I should give it another try, it's been a decade
>>739358515The real filter is the first fire idol boss cause you need to rely on retarded AI party
>>739350947> accidently grind because I want to have FUN with the GAMEPLAY> game becomes impossibly hardThanks SAGA.
>>739356316>buying gamesWhy?
>>739360639I see, would playing the remastered version be the best way to enjoy the game right now?
>you supposed to know all the important guild task or else you can't get material to craft good weapon>you supposed be lucky enough to get material you want (RNG drop) or the game will fuck you with battle rank>you supposed to know which quest is suitable for you current stats>you supposed to know how to level up the skill you want (random)
Absolutely top tier OSThttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osuTXjQghs8
>>739361315>generic anime metal that only can be saved by strings and timpani drums, yet sounds generic
>>739361260If you know Japanese and can play that version as they didn't include the JP voices in the western remasters.
This is actually The LAST Remnant, unlike Final Fantasy.
>>739361469>they didn't include the JP voicesHow bad is the voice acting?
>>739361717It's ps2 jarpig
It's one of those game where you can imagine what could it possibly be if everything work, but you are stuck with this whack ass reality
JRPG's are so far from being RPG's its almost pointless to include them. just call them hot topic anime visual novel games or something because nothing about them reminds me of RPG at all.
>>739362253That's why we call them JRPG specifically, YoshiP
>>739362168In the back of my mind I knew but I had some hope that this was one of those rare cases where they actually gave a shit
>>739362294but why include the "RPG" part when they are barely RPGs? just because thing thing, japan? should we start saying RRPG for russian RPG's? ArRPG for Armenian ones? etc. etc.
>>739362253Life simming and MUH CHOICES AN CONSEQUENCES aren't RPGs either. It's the tactical decision making combat in superior JRPGs that makes the genre, not your visual novel.
>>739362390>tactical decision making combat>JRPGlmao. underrail is a tactical decision making GAME. its not just the combat, but everything else is tactical, decision based and consequence based.
>>739362253What about etrian odissey franchise?
