>Thread Question
Id say yay, if well done. I wonder how they'd use the camera for the horror aspects, since when its fixed camera the horror comes from the claustrophobic angles as well as not knowing whats just beyond your inmediate surroundings
>>
>>490778016
>Isometric horror - yay or nay
Re isn't iso, is it?
Fixed camera all the way. I doubt horror rts or crpg would work als mere horror games. For them to be good they need gameplay.
Come to think of it, re2 has pretty shitty game play. Still one of the best games ever made.
>>
>>490781372

I don't think it is, no.

YAY, new /horg/ thread. Let's see what we are discussing! There's so many horror games to talk about, so surely it won't be just RE right off the bat right? Right?

Its my personal favorite though it's not without its rough patches. It does the haunted home base hub area thing kind of like SH4 but to much better effect imo. Keep your eyes open and you'll notice all sorts of freaky shit.
>just finished 2
Have you played 1 as well? The plot is best understood if you have since the protagonist returns as a major character though it's probably not vital.

silent hill is japanese. it's j-horror with the setting of a small american town. it's unique in that it pays homage to western fiction, but the execution is 100% japanese.
if you disagree with this, it's fine, you can like whatever, but everything after 4 isn't silent hill anymore, because it lost the most important aspect of its identity. the j-horror is the key element of silent hill.
silent hill f might be cool.

>>

Herobrine and all the practically endless horror mods that exist out there can easily make it one. But I get what you mean - a game like Minecraft built around horror from the start would be kino of the highest order.
>>

Kino gameplay. Say what you will about the lack of content but what’s there is easily the funniest multiplayer horror experience since RE5

I knew this was going to happen. On the surface it might seem acceptable but there’s a shit ton of nuance and detail that they either failed to pick up on or simply don’t give enough of a fuck to replicate. At best this will be another serviceable game inferior to the original in the most important ways.

also the weird thing about the demake is that angela's body is almost 1 for 1 proportioned like in the original but her head is bizarrely oversized. not just in excess fat but her skull looks boneless like they took a completely different character's head and put it on angela's model. the character's face doesn't even look like the actress they supposedly used for reference.
>>
>>490954975
I think this is true with some small things like failing to recreate how well done the hand-crafted expressions in the fmvs were but some changes feel less like they're missing the point and more like they're changing the point to suit a new vision. This game is already regarded as one of the better narrative experiences in gaming so you'd think they'd pour special care into staying faithful to what made its storytelling so good.

>discord
As far as I know none of us have done anything beyond lurk there and talk about how terrible it is, and how the dev isn’t taking the game in a good direction.
>>
>>490977976
I think some of the humor works well for the tone, like when you get a jump scared by something silly or it lulls you into complacency so the next spooky thing that happens catches you off guard. I'd rather it wasn't made by an autistic furry who seems like he's one mental break away from turning it into an alien dating sim but you win some you lose some.
>>
>>490960998
>boneless
lmao
>>
>>490979542
That's exactly my main problem with the game, in a game about being spooked by aliens it does not seem like a very good idea to put your furry OCs into it and give them a friendship meter, it's a complete tonal shift.
The worst part is VOTV fans seem to love it.
>>

I despise the dev. For every ten good ideas he has there's at least one fucking horrible idea ready to bust. It really has potential being squandered by unnecessary feature-creep.
>let's make an endless randomized cave because we just played stardew valley for a month straight
>it won't have anything in it besides coal and uranium
Why?
>asks youtubers what they would like to see in the game
>so desperate for attention he creates specific events to freak out youtubers and releasing the patch literally the moment they start streaming to make sure they're the first ones to see it
>fishing
Why?
He's adding so much shit to the game he can't find the time to debug said shit, and no one seems to mind because it's free and they can do shit like pic related.
Decoratan gaems, what is this, animal crossing? I thought I was playing a game all about trying to work in an abandoned monitoring station with an eerie atmosphere.

What do you mean? You can make anything into a poster if it's a .png, you can make the image file any dimension and the game will stretch it to fit. You gotta adjust it yourself tho.
Stickers too, just make them completely square, they work best with transparency.

Like look at leggy Shadow. That's a rectangular tall .png file, but the game squashes it to fit into a square.
I'll make a mediafire of some of my favorite posters if you still want them.

No guys you don’t get it the Silent Hill 2 remake is actually faithful and it WILL be good because…. uh. um…. a couple of the devs that worked on the original said so!
>>
>>490998471
Ironically didn't Masahiro Ito say something about how the remake should be different from the original instead of just a modernization because nobody wants to make the same game twice or something like that
>>
>>490996375
It's as "unfocused" as all of Nose's other projects. Nose does whatever the fuck he wants and he does not give a shit about what other people want or expect from him. It's ironic that people here always bitch when devs get fucked over and aren't allowed to commit to what they want to do, but will just as quickly shit on the ones who simply do whatever they want with no restrictions.

Nose never had any intent of making a second Signal Simulator. If what you want is more Signal Sim, then just go play that instead.
>>
>>490999389
I want Signal Sim that isn't shit
>>
>>490999389
>Nose does whatever the fuck he wants and he does not give a shit about what other people want or expect from him.
That's nice. It doesn't mean people can't point out aspects of his projects that kinda suck though.
>>
>>490999696
It's a free game. If it's so much of a problem what he does with it, go play something else. You lose nothing from playing it.
>>
>>490999389
See this is why people say you’re from discord or whatever, nobody defends people from criticism this hard unless they’re mentally ill or friends with the person that’s being criticized.
>It's ironic that people here always bitch when devs get fucked over and aren't allowed to commit to what they want to do, but will just as quickly shit on the ones who simply do whatever they want with no restrictions.
Doing whatever you want doesn’t make you exempt from having your game criticized.
>>
>>490999924
Free =/= Perfect

This is why shit gets worse, poop eaters like you will defend anything.
>>
>>490999924
I enjoy most of the game, that's why I criticize the garbage parts of it so harshly
>>
>>490999389

When people champion creative freedom for devs they mean stuff that otherwise wouldn't fly with investors. He can do whatever he wants but people are still allowed to give their two cents about it.
Like seriously, what really IS the point of spending time creating a fishing system, or programming a randomly generated cave system in a game like this?

This is the most ADHD developer I've ever seen. The moment a passing thought comes by he gets distracted by it, works on it a little bit until he gets bored, then moves on to something else, leaving that area of the project completely unfinished until he gets bored of whatever else he's working on and comes back to it out of obligation.
>>
>>490999389
The game's core gameplay, signals, were totally broken for almost a fucking week while he shitposted on Discord. He makes over $10k a month doing this. I think people have a right to bitch at him.
>>
>>490999342
>the remake should be different from the original instead of just a modernization because nobody wants to make the same game twice or something like that
I hate this line of thinking because the obvious conclusion to it would be “we should just make a new game instead”, but they won’t do that because they’re creatively bankrupt.

Well. They technically *are* doing that with Silent Hill F. This is more along the lines of insurance in case that doesn’t work out I would say. But yes it’s clearly something they’re banking on being popular, the fact they straightened up so quick and got to addressing complaints with the newest gameplay is proof of that, presumably because they want to aim for remakes of 1-3.

The direction of the game was apparent from the very first build, which was filled with Arirals, memes, and shitposts.

Votv's real problem is how fucking obtuse some of the triggers for the interesting events are
>>
>>491004731

so why doesn't votv have its own general again?
>>
>>491005794
It's not just the events, finding the plushies is such absolute shit. You have to look it up. It's not even like zelda where you can find a secret by sheer dumb luck and tell your friends on the playground about it, you have to deliberately look it up, and if you play the game in a vacuum you wouldn't even know they existed in the first place.
>this item sits on an invisible platform 200 feet in the air in this secluded part of the map, you cannot reach it with a drone
>place one food item in each corner of the map, then you must place one last food item in the basement in a very precise spot and stand with your back turned during a very specific time of the day

The only reasonable one is
>place exactly 12 food items in the pool of your base and explode them

Crow Country isn't isometric. It's just third person with a fixed camera distance and an angle that isn't top down.

Isometric view means a specific thing and definitionally requires a locked camera, which Crow Country doesn't have (thank fuck).

Tarsier isn't, they got claimed by Embracer and dumped LN like a hot potato so they could work on Reanimal. But the overall IP is owned by Bamco and Tarsier left the lore doc for the setting, so they put Supermassive in charge of LN3.

Currently, you have a bunch of people (retards) trying to start a fight between Reanimal and LN3 despite them being two vastly different games in terms of aesthetics and presentation. Instead of being thankful that we're getting 2 games like LN.

Yep there is definitely a lack of content, but gameplay is solid. At least it's replayable considering I've now racked up 300 hours on it. I'm definitely getting burned out though and don't enjoy it unless I'm playing with friends now. I liked helping new players since it's funny to see them panic and stuff, but most of them don't use their microphones now so I can't hear them scream and that ruined the novelty. Wonder how long it'll be before an actually new level and preferably new ex-pops/prime assets comes out.
>>491146752
Nah. Too much shit I don't like about it from what they've shown. I'm not impressed. I'll watch someone else play it and if I do end up liking what I see I'll buy it. Most likely will wait 10+yrs to grab it for $5 if at all. I'm sure as just "a game", it's fine on its own merit, but as far as being a remake of SH2, it doesn't hold a candle to the original. They changed too many things. The new hotel looks ass, the observation deck is pointless since you can't even see the lake anymore, the colors are washed out and things that should be dark/black are more gray. I don't like any of the new character designs, it should stay true to the source. Pyramid Head's animations look bad - when he turns he rotates like a fucking tank. The trees look bad and you can see some of them pop in and out of the intro, plus you can clearly see the framerate dip below 30fps at least twice, which I'm hoping is only an issue for console cucks but I have zero faith in Blooper team. The voice acting is missing the "acting" part and just sounds like careless people reading out the script while half-asleep. The only things I like about it is that things are generally more detailed and combat seems generally.
>>491175095
You can build one for like $300-800 depending on desired specs and whether or not you're willing to go for used/old parts (which would still be more than capable of running SH2), you have no excuse.

I personally hate industrial complexes like underground labs so I can't relate but I love big ass spooky mansions for isolated horror and infested cities for "holy shit everything is fucked" type stuff.

To this date I think original RE2 and RE3 have the best depiction of an utterly hellish pseudo apocalyptic scenario in the atmosphere of the city during the outbreak. The feeling of the sheer scale of mass death, chaos and terror as bioweapons rampage around a city full of unsuspecting normal people who had no idea when they woke up that morning that their entire world would turn into a living nightmare is unparalleled.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbKhfX4h6bg

Man fuckin I want more underwater or ocean related horror, but it just sucks that whenever a developer does do it it's always cthulhu shit.
Like we lucked out with subnautica but that wasn't a game that focused purely on horror.
There's soma but the underwater elements only serve as a backdrop to the real theme of the game, it's not the focus.
Then there's barotrauma, fucking awesome game, but it just doesn't feel like much of a horror underwater game as much as a co-op submarine game.
We have xcom terror from the deep, but it's really just regular old xcom with an underwater reskin because the development was so rushed.
Iron lung is really the only true underwater horror game that immediately comes to mind.
Does anyone know of any true underwater horror games? Like, true horror games, not just games that happen to have a scary underwater level.

Years ago in the late 2000s /v/ got together to try and make a game about seafloor base building or something and there's horror themes and deep sea monsters, much like subnautica, but I can't remember the name of it and it never bore any real fruit. Does anyone remember that?

>>491165330

I'm excited for both, Reanimal looks absolutely amazing and really outdoes LN3 in terms of atmosphere. LN3 looks fine and the new trailer promising, but since day one something felt off about it, you really feel there are different people behind this one. Though one thing LN still has above Reanimal, they don'g have to resort to legally distinct Mono and Six for their game. Also voice acting already sounds weird for these games even if we only have 2 lines.
>>
>>491243748

>>
>>491245606

What I really want is a metroid prime game that entirely takes place underwater, like you'll have some tunnels and pirate facilities that aren't, obviously.
>some areas so deep and dark you can only navigate with short-range light and visualized sonar and thermal vision
>real threat isn't the pirates but deep sea alien fauna
>pirate cargo submersible carrying suit upgrades swallowed by giant underwater predator, have to kill said creature somehow to get inside its guts to then get inside the swallowed vessel to get upgrade
>game has to find creative ways to make you feel vulnerable and weak despite all the upgrades you have by the end without being annoying
That last bit is what metroid dread failed to do.

I got understand that I just looked up supermassive there and yeah they only did the choice heavy horror games and the enhanced edition of LN2.

>>
>>491268359

I just did that part and it genuinely got me.
Yeah the game came out towards the end of the whole dinosaur craze during the 90s, no doubt the devs saw the movies like "that's sugoi".
It's a shame the series didn't take off, considering how umbrella's approach to bioweapons science in RE is essentially just "throw shit at the wall to see what sticks" you could probably do the same shit with dinosaurs in DC if you just went stupid with it. I would've loved a post-RE4 type dinosaur horror/action game in the 2000s.

the puzzles are rather difficult and needlessly complex, combined with the fact that it was actually really difficult compared to RE
then you've got 4 games in the span of like 5 years that are nothing alike, ending with dino crisis 3 of all things

imo it dethrones everything else and is probably the apex survival horror game

Dino Crisis 1 has one of the best atmospheres in video game history
>>
>>491287490
I'm really loving it so far. Some anons earlier in this thread talked about how they want more research facility and labs and shit, resident evil has that but only towards the end of their games.
This game just skips all the foreplay and jumps right into it.
>>
>>491288159
What I really loved is the sense of progression for the art design. I don't want to spoil or overhype the aesthetic but the same way RE starts off in a mundane setting and progresses into techno lab, DC has its own sense of escalating artistic exaggeration too

I think LN3 is taking the more somber and atmospheric styling of LN1 rather than doing what LN2 did. A LOT of the areas remind me of the Maw in several ways. But they're also clearly adapting some of the original concepts for LN2 such as the Monster Baby, so it's a bit of an odd mix between the two styles.

i'm trying to find out the name of a game but i only have vague details
what i can remember is possibly a trailer for it, featured some kind of carnival or wandering troupe, a member of the group was an insect, but humanoid female style, she wanted to leave the group but it wasn't allowed, this was mentioned when they were meeting in a forest of some sort.
fairly sure it's a horror game and i don't know if it was released already or ever got released. i tried looking up various games that sound close but haven't found it yet if it exists at all.

not really, at best i can say i saw this video in 2023 but i can't say if it was for something already out or was a teaser trailer.

You just gotta take it as a given these days, man. Very few games have well-crafted harder difficulties that don't just turn enemies into bullet sponges.
REmake did it well by increasing the difficulty in some puzzles and adding more steps to progress, besides adding more zombies and reducing healing items. What I don't understand is why more horror games don't have an unlockable bullshit mode where the enemies become invisible, I fucking love that game but no way in hell I could beat that.

>that VN
The most unforgettable horror porn game I've ever played. No other game had a bunch of elementary schoolers gangbang a teenage girl against a wall. And the teenage girl loved it. No other game I've played had a 17 year old bishonen guy drink a 14 year old girl's piss and chase her down the hall to rape her, only to wind up getting anally raped by a 32 year old fat man. I still remember the scene where a 16-17 girl was hiding under a bed as her same age best friend was having sex with that same 32 year old fat guy on top. She heard every moan, bed shake and sound. In the wrong end she was discovered under the bed by her friend and made to join. A most terrifying scene was when an unwilling girl relives another girl's sex memories. The girl in the memory consented but the reliving girl didn't. It didn't matter that she was mentally screaming, her body in the memory did all the motions and actions as in history. It's like mind control rape except the victim was fully aware. Another scene the same girl and a friend were almost raped in a magic sex ritual, saved by the girl's older sister, and the backlash made the older sister want to rape her younger sister and friend.

The loli in this pic is freakishly lewd and once disguised herself as a teenage girl, fucked a boy until he nearly came, transformed back saying
>You thought you were having sex with a highschooler weren't you? I'm an elementary schooler all along!
And leglocks that boy, forcing him to cum inside her unprotected, when he screams in fear upon learning this. This isn't even getting into the tentacles, the gay sex, the lesbian sex, the incest, the sequel's mother/daughter lesbian scene, etc. The first chapter alone contains lots of lesbian sex scenes with an unavoidable girl masturbating in the bathroom. Truly horror is intrinsically connected with sexuality.

The aesthetic progression of the game is so good
>regular looking outdoors environments (where things start out)
>upscale offices in M1/2 (ex the main floor)
>sterile hospital-esque hallways in B1 (medical rooms and library hallways)
>almost brutalist utilitarian warehouse style designs in B3 (crane room for example) merged with hints sci-fi weirdness (the transport passageways)
>full fledged hypnotic sci-fi in B2
Even though it all takes place in a lab it manages to make you feel like you went on a journey.
Also the T. rex is the best dinosaur antagonist outside of the T. rex in the first Jurassic Park. Sometimes keeping things simple is good. He's the big bad with no equal and whenever he shows up on screen you know something's gonna go wrong.

The thing with the ost is that it's very hit or miss. Like you'll have brilliantly crafted songs like the ones you just linked, but then a different composer on the team comes in and just slaps her titties on the keyboard to create a song for a hectic event.
Like fuckin
https://youtu.be/7JSlz-LSTvs?si=wfWLZDh_cp4sNtDf

And I wouldn't want it any other way. It really brings a certain charm to the game. These are talented composers, you just know Shinji Mikami stepped in like "okay so I want it to actually sound like shitty 80s amateur horror movies, just make it god awful" cus that's just what a wonderful bastard he is.
I dunno how I'd feel if they decided to remake this game. They would look at these perfect imperfections and make it all safe and AAA.
"Fix the music, add more dinosaurs, make the puzzles easier, put a waypoint marker, make her a girlboss"

After beating it for the first time last night, DC1 is now definitely gonna be up there as one of my favorite classic horror games. You can count me in with the PS1 horror game aesthetic hipsters now I suppose.

Yeah I think I agree. DC1 is fine, DC2 definitely needs fixing. From what little I've played so far it seems like they've just reused the engine, and a whole lot of assets like Regina's model is the exact same, enemy models, animations, attack patterns, controls, sfx etc.
The game controls and plays the exact same, but they gave you a hundred times more ammo and coded in a points system with a combo multiplier.
I'm not sure I like this. It's like, they had the jungle paths there with a few dinosaurs here and there, but then the big money at capcom came into their offices last minute and told them to really emphasize the shooting so people would buy it.

And it's cheap too. Get this, when you run through an area and the camera changes angles, enemies respawn. You can be in a room full of pterodactyls, stand in one spot and blast them all out of the sky, then walk five steps so the camera changes and suddenly they're back. No animation, they're just there.
Is the rest of the game worth playing? Cus I dunno man... If the anons earlier in this thread are right then that means it's all downhill from here.
>>
>>491516658
>No animation, they're just there
That's how fast they are. No movement, they are just there, lurking.
>>
>>491516658
the enemies "spawn" during camera changes, and the game encourages you to kill as many as you can to get as many points as you can via the combo meter, so you can get cool guns at the end

they're two completely different games and I love them both for different reasons

I'm not gonna lie, it is fun blasting through enemies, but I think a subdued survival experience would be more exciting. Like I don't have to worry about ammo at all now, enemies just bleed money.
I'm gonna get to the ending. It's not a bad game at all, it's just trying to be something it doesn't need to be.

So it looks like Callisto Protocol is getting a Hades like spin-off, despite Glen Schofield leaving the company. Don’t know how I feel about it, especially after that one article where he talked about how Krafton and the pandemic fucked them over so hard that it resulted in 2 and half bosses, 3-4 enemies, and tons of other content getting cut because of them getting locked into that December release date a month before Dead Space Remake was set to release, when they needed more time to work on the game.

Alright, this is pretty sweet. DC2 completely changed for me now. We were talking about underwater horror earlier in this thread, and speak of the devil, a good portion of this game seems to be subaquatic while wearing a heavy diving suit.
The game just slowed down considerably. Now we're talking atmosphere.
>>
>>491501197
Eh the RE2 remake already showed me that the devs are completely uninterested in recapturing the original atmospheres of classic RE. Instead the value of the remake was for its gameplay, which I felt was done very well. DC1 could be even better because agile dinosaurs simply seem like more interesting challenges than zombies to me. I'd love to see a new, more real-time take on the T. rex too.
Nonetheless, glad you enjoyed it.
>>491516658
I wouldn't say it needs fixing, it's simply a different direction. The core gameplay is really good evaluated under the lens of an action game.
>>491545298
I'd say the entire game carves out a really nice atmosphere for itself. It's just not as strong as DC1's, nor is it ever really trying for scares. The underwater part is the most horror-adjacent aspect of it for sure (I wouldn't call it particularly horror but all power to you if it meets your thresholds).
My advice is to just enjoy it for what it is rather than compare it to DC1. It's really fun if you get invested into its core gameplay of farm combos -> get points -> get upgrades -> repeat and it doesn't overstay its welcome given the simplicity of that premise either.

I think he has there’s a few articles that talk about how troubled development got. Krafton basically gave them free reign to take as much time as they needed and add as much as they needed to, and rug pulled them around January 2022 by telling them they needed to have it done by December of that year, which is why they had to start cutting corners like crazy, and it really shows. The dev cycle happening right in the middle of Corona didn’t help things either, with entire departments getting sick for weeks. It’s really sad that he got fucked that hard again by a publisher, since he really wanted to make Callisto a fully fledged franchise, and make each installment better than the last, while Krafton kept messing around with development because they only saw it as a one and done kind of deal for profit and nothing else, and a project they could use to create a PUBG Connected Universe.

I'm so fucking confused by the plot in DC2.
So... Dylan and Regina went to the future thinking it was the past, and they didn't know it was the future? And the future looks like this because the people wanted to save the dinosaurs in the past from extinction so they brought them to the future so humanity in the past could also thrive and then the plan was to bring them back and co-exist, but that turned out to be a really bad idea because these people are fucking idiots, so they never completed the plan of bringing them back.
I lost the fucking plot not even twenty seconds into the game because apparently the time travel device can be controlled now and no longer just "swaps" the surrounding area with an area of a different time like in the first game, now it's just a regular old time portal?
It feels like I just walked into the middle of a university lecture and the professor is expecting me to already know what the fuck he's talking about, but when I ask him about it and he gives me a quick summary all I can do is pic related.

I think it’s less luck, and more emblematic of the state of the games industry today. They don’t want a polished product, they only want money as soon as possible, and when the game doesn’t deliver on what they expected, the devs are the ones who get blamed.
>>
>>491560145
>Callisto 2 was going to have you play as some other guy, have him killed off at the half way mark, and have Jacob come back as the protagonist of the second half
That sounds really cool. Like a more fleshed out version of Dead Space 3’s intro with Tim and Sam being the fake out protagonists for Isaac and Carver. Now I’m kind of upset that this isn’t going to happen.
>>
>>491559123
How is it that Callisto only got about 2-3 years of dev time and budget of around $148 million for their budget, but garbage like Concord was in development for 8 years, and they got a budget of over $200 million? How come they couldn’t get an extra year or so of development when everything else has a dev cycle of over 4 years?
>>
>>491478205
The first one is most definitely worth playing, if you understand how and why it was designed.

The game's director noticed the trend of people using online forums to figure out puzzles in survival horror games. So, the game was designed with nearly impossible puzzles, specifically to test whether or not players would collaborate on forums to complete the game and figure out what to do next.

It's a very interesting take on game design and probably the only game I can think of that was specifically designed to be played with a guide or walkthrough of some sort.

Among the potential issues with LN3, one I don't see people comment on is how oddly close Low and Alone are. They make them out to be even bigger chums than Mono and Six ever were in LN2's promo material, back then it was just them saying we'd get a new playable character and have 2 kids during the journey, they left the relationship building for the actual game. Now with LN3 there are loads of developer statements on the kid's intentions and reasons for sticking together and a lot of in-game footage we have shows animations and interactions between these two that are far closer than what Mono and Six had. Six would catch Mono when he lept, they'd boost each other and hold hands sometimes, but Low and Alone are shown cooperating by helping one another through doors they could both enter on their own, or the combat requires both to work together.
All of this said, it gives the impression that they plan on pulling a similar ending to LN2, but they make it way too obvious that's what their plan is. If they plan to do the opposite, then that makes all this just strange, like they want to recapture the same fandom throttling magic that Mono x Six had but are unsure if they can get that to happen again naturally, so they have all these non-subtile nudges in that direction which from what I've seen, hasn't worked at all.

Low and Alone have implicitly bene together for a while, and didn't have the trust issues that Six did with Mono. It makes sense narratively why they're so close. As for whether or not it will end like LN2, I doubt it if only because neither of them have shown any reason to betray the other. If anything, I expect one or both will die by the end, or if they do survive, then they'll still be trapped in the Spiral. For all we know, they might both become Residents together.

Just finished Heaven's Dust 2. I did a knife only (where possible, which basically meant excepting bosses, regenerators which I compromised on by killing with barrels, and a single room with a fucking dog and no hiding spot), no hit, kill all enemies run...up until the very last boss where I just facetanked for giggles.

Favorite moment was killing the first boss SMG only and finding out that if you hit it with every barrel AND land every bullet, you finish the fight with 0 ammo remaining (assuming you collected all the SMG ammo up until that point). Honestly thought I was gonna have to reload.

Least favorite moment was somehow glitching the fireworks pistol by putting it in storage so I never got to see what it does.

Funniest moment was the segment where you're supposed to mow down a hall of zombies before they reach you with a fuckhuge movable turret, but instead I used the turret as a barricade and knifed down the entire mob from perfect safety.

As far as I understand it, the story is that Low wants to go home, but Alone only wants to help him go home. That already is a strange difference in motive, even if she doesn't have one Alone should see the benefit in joining Low directly in going home, not just tagging along to provide assistance. Now from here the story could go either way, betrayal or sacrifice, but that wasn't necessarily my worry. I would prefer they do something different as redoing LN2's ending wouldn't hit as hard here, but I think all the details pointing to them being so close is a bad sign they're being heavy handed to recreate that ending. LN2's ending worked because the progression of the core relationship made the ending work, Mono and Six slowly warm up to each other and learn to rely on one another only for the friendship to fail right at the end when Mono thought he had done his greatest feat yet in saving Six . That is why the ending was so impactful, you spend all that time watching their relationship develop only for the ending to flush it all away in a single moment . The fact we already are mid-relationship with Low and Alone, regardless of what the ending is takes a lot of wind out of the ending's sails. We don't see them grow closer in any meaningful way because they're always friends, so them being closer friends isn't a huge difference. Again they could go the painfully obvious route of doing LN2 again with the before mentioned potentially different endgames for Low and Alone, but such an ending would feel like a shallow and pale imitation of the LN2 ending.

Understandable points, but judging by Alone's appearance and what has been said in an interview about her being "curious, incurable tinkerer who can’t help following the secrets of The Spiral to their source." I think she's just obsessed with uncovering the secrets of the Spiral. This MAY lead to betrayal or corruption, but I don't think it's the same relationship as Six and Mono. Mono genuinely wanted to help Six and Six didn't know where else to go so she went with Mono and eventually seemed to develop true affection for him - it was an odd relationship but one where Mono already had extreme (and naive) amounts of trust in her from the get-go. Meanwhile, Low and Alone seem to have a compassionate albeit more professional relationship; Low wants to return home by following hints towards a mythical place and Alone is willing to help him get there because it allows her to further explore the secrets of the Spiral whilst assisting him. They both benefit each other, but without the same insane degree of one-sided trust that Mono put into Six at his own expense. They're more like equal partners than anything else.

If something happens like Alone abandoning Low or betraying him, it's inherently not going to hit as hard as Mono and Six because with Mono, we were experiencing events purely through his eyes and to Mono, Six was someone he had full blind faith in beginning to end. His naivety is shared with us from an out-of-game perspective and that's why the betrayal is such a gut-punch. With Low and Alone, we already know that while they mutually trust each other, they both have separate goals that align only in they can benefit the other and accomplish more than they could solo. It's a relationship born of survival and experience, not the pure affection that Mono had going on. It's why I'm not convinced they're going to try and recreate LN2 beat-for-beat because Low and Alone are simply too different from Mono and Six to recreate that same feeling.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are brilliant atmospheric sci-fi games. They're not primarily horror games, but they have brilliant horror elements.
Definitely worth playing. Sadly a lot of Nintendo fans are like star wars fans in that they like recognizable characters more so than being enthusiasts the genre itself. Like how some silent hill fans just want to see pyramid head and sexy nurses. It's infuriating.

FNAF 2 or Poppy. They're the most conductive to a film unless they plan to adapt Dark Revival for Bendy.
>>
>>492092320
I feel like all they'd need to do is make the ending more in line with DR, or have it directly set up a DR for it to work. The pieces of Ink Machine are fine, cut out a lot of gameplay and you have a collection of standard horror moments that can easily be expanded on. The story won't blow you away but that won't really matter for a slasher.
I do generally agree that Fnaf2 and Poppy look better on paper, but a big problem with the Fnaf movie was the need to not let the animatronics run loose and get bloodthirsty because they need to also be victims and seen as innocent children. The second film will share this problem. PPT could overcome it but again the issue of needing to maintain some innocence for the monsters will damper the kill count. Bendy doesn't have that problem, he can be evil and murderous because he is meant to be the villian, they don't need to invent convoluted scenarios to get him killing anyone.
>>
>>492097057
PPT actually has it pretty easy - the kids have long since gone feral over the ensuing decade following the Hour of Joy and are more beasts than children. There's also the fact they'd no longer be "kids" strictly speaking, Theo/Catnap alone is 22 by the time we start the game. And they can't ignore or retcon the Hour of Joy without changing the entire plot wholesale, and that explicitly involved all of the toys sans Poppy killing everyone in the factory bar the ones who weren't present at the day of the event.

This is really missing some of the best parts. I came buckets when one of the girl’s was fucked in a pool and the chad kid who liked her was forced to watch. The ending cg with the shot of the girl’s limp legs had me in diamonds. I also love the fact that all the tomboys have big boobs. And the scene where the main boy gets a double blowjob from his tomboy childhood friend and younger sister was great. The OVA had nice original scenes too. Once that chad kid was holding back a door when the ugly middle aged fatty used his tick to break through the door, aiming his dick right at chad kid's anus and lifted him into the air with his long dick. But we can't forget the double blowjob the main boy gets from his tomboy childhood friend and his little sister. Why do you keep on forgetting https://files.catbox.moe/8wpfo0.jpg?

So, why do you guys like horror games? For me, they give me a strange feeling. Sometimes my wife will go to bed, I'll stay up late on a Friday and make some good food, and play something like Fatal Frame. I just feel cozy. Most modern games don't give me this feeling. Well I just beat Parasite Eve for the first time in my life. It's really jarring going from Dino Crisis to this game cus it's just night and day in how they handle the writing, the characters, the structure of the game itself, the cutscenes, the puzzles, the theme and general tone of it all.

Fucking love the weapon upgrade system and the combat system in general, it's not perfect but it's definitely my favorite thing about this game. You can get some really overpowered shit if you combine the right abilities onto the right weapon.
I loved it when it was body horror and (to an uneducated dumb motherfucker like me) believable biology shit. But then it just goes straight into being magic and final fantasy, like all sense of being believable just went right out the window. Like it's just so typical squaresoft.

The game's really fucking rough around the edges, but I liked it.
Is the PE2 worth playing? Do any of the sequels retain the battle system and weapon customization?
Thanks for reading my blog.

Speak of the devil

>Resident Evil and Dino Crisis creator Shinji Mikami said he doesn't "feel like there's a whole lot of space" for a new Dino Crisis game thanks to the success of Capcom's Monster Hunter series.

>Speaking to Eurogamer at Gamescom with regards to the forthcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, Mikami discussed the topic of a new Dino Crisis game - it's the series most Capcom fans want to see make a return, according to a recent survey.

>Mikami said he was surprised at the fan reaction to Dino Crisis, but it seems the popularity of Monster Hunter has put him off continuing the series.

>"I'm very surprised to hear that," said Mikami in relation to fans wanting more Dino Crisis. "The awesomeness of dinosaurs and the stuff you can do with dinosaurs, that's been kind of really nailed down by Monster Hunter in recent years.

>"So even if I were to decide to make a remake or a new version of Dino Crisis, I don't really feel like there's a whole lot of space for that kind of game right now, just since Monster Hunter has become such a big game. But yeah, it is surprising."

>When Capcom announced Exoprimal, its online dinosaur-inspired shooter, many fans jumped to Dino Crisis, only to be disappointed.

>"The concept is pretty different from that of Dino Crisis," said Mikami, when I compared the games. "I guess the fans got their expectations up, but here we are."

>The last game in the series was Dino Crisis 3 released in 2003 and since then it's reached cult classic status. However, there's no official word on any form of remake, remaster, or new game in the series.

>And, despite rumours, Dino Crisis is yet to appear on PS Plus.

>Mikami, meanwhile, left Tango Gameworks ahead of its closure and has opened a new studio called KAMUY.

I've always loved horror as a kid back when I was reading/collecting goosebumps, it's an incredibly deep and expansive genre that's only really held back by the theming of it and the creativity of the author who wants to make a horror thing
it's only natural to want to see more horror if you're a fan of it, I just went from books to games and tv/film
>>
>>492367854
you do NOT make fun of evil within in this thread because I like it
evil within 1 has greater atmosphere and characters but 2 has better gameplay and boss fights

Why is Lethal Company so fun? Don't even have any friends to play with so missing out on that aspect, but even playing solo is so addicting.

It's got a nice gameplay loop, along with randomized elements that keep things from getting stale. Scare-wise, the various monster behaviors are clever and catch me off-guard at times, though it's probably less scary in co-op (fellow single player here).

Fair. I just hated the look/look away gimmick. Pairing that with the flashing effects in the finale and I am just entirely dissatisfied.

Bendy, it's a series where you enter this realm which is a mix of 30s cartoons and Rapture, lorded over by the Ink Demon who is the main evil terrorizing the residents. The character in the picture is both versions of Bendy, his cartoon form and his feral Ink Demon form, he has a sort of Jekyll & Hyde relationship going on.

>>
>>492454569
It's pretty nice, definitely has room to grow and improve but they seem to be doing that. Ink Machine starts as a kind of walking sim where the main enjoyment is the environment, however after the first Chapter they start to gradually change the gameplay to emphasize combat, puzzles, and stealth. Dark Revival is more consistantly an immersive sim and plays much better. The big highlights of the series are how beautiful the setting is and how the monsters look.
