You know why TWW zones look so bland and soulless, even Hallowfall? It's because of the awful colour palette. Since Legion onwards the colours for each zone are becoming progressively blander and weaker. The colours don't particularly contrast or play off each other, so you end up having zones with no real theme or vibe to them.Compare this to the vibrant colour palettes of classic zones. Even the darker and gloomier zones like Duskwood, Dustwallow Marsh, and the Plaguelands seemed more vibrant than modern WoW zones. You could see a single image of one of these zones and instantly know what its theme would be: spooky forest, murky swamp, blighted wasteland, and so on.#I first noticed this in Legion with how washed-out the colour palettes for some of the zones looked, but I chalked it up to it being a deliberate choice because it fitted the wet, coastal island theme of the Broken Isles. But they've continued it, and doubled down on it, in every expansion since, with no sign of stopping.
