If you can handle a 1 man army with music not of his own making, its a good cheesy horror game akin to a b-movie. It might spook it might scare but to me at this point, it doesn't.

It's a horror RPG.

Now the real tricky question is, what category of gameplay system is Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Eternal Darkness etc.
We have FPS, TPS, RTS, RPG, VN, shmups, beat em ups, hack n slash, tactics, arcade fighter, etc. All descriptive categories of core gameplay systems.

So is there one for our classic fixed-camera tank-controls horror games?

The Cross is used in this boss fight to show the boss as its invisible without it, if you have stats in mind you can see it even without the cross. Cursed 2 and 3 are rpgs as well that have you engage in combat to get stronger, no grinding required, if you're skilled enough you dont need to do it.
Cursed 3 especially is a high mark for skill based, the dev is adding a horde shooter mode where you're locked to killing hordes with powerups and new enemies with a shop inbetween rounds!

I was lucky to get into voices of the void before finding out how god awfully autistic people can be about it. Sometimes it's better to enjoy something in a vacuum.

I thoink this applies to anything. Being a fan is fine, it's when a lot of fans gather together to form a community when it becomes a religion.
Take a look at Goemon. Hasn't seen a new game since the 2000s. But there's still a small dedicated fanbase to the franchise online, even comprising of autistic kids who weren't around during Goemon's peak. I know these people.
You say one bad word about the series around those folks and they'll rip you to shreds.

All fan communities online are autistic. It's their religion. You'll have a more pleasant time finding people who are fans of a genre and have broader tastes that aren't just one franchise.
