If your poorfag PC can run Wii/GC titles well I think it's safe to say it's not your fault. Though you can fix a few issues by tinkering with the emulation settings, so I think that'd be worth a try.
3DS seems like a fucking nightmare for emulation and preservation in general. Two screens was a cute gimmick but it aged pretty badly.
