Bonus products from productivity benefit from quality, right? So if you're using legendary ingredients it should always be in a machine with max productivity?

>>503251820Items never degrade, they stay the same or have a quality% chance to improve. A successful quality upgrade gets a free chance to roll again and chain multiple tiers.
How much yellow ammo and rocket production do you need for Aquilo trips?
>unlocked all non repeatable tech up through gleba shit>got quality farm set up on fulgora and future proofed it for legendary to be unlocked>got nauvis and vulcanus upgraded mostly to keep chugging along I'm running out of shit to procrastinate making an aquilo ship with
Surely there is an underground heatpipe, no one would force players to use it everywhere on that planet without being able to go under shit, right?
thoughts on putting quality mall on fulgora vs vulcanus? The Loads of Free Stuff on vulcanus kind of call to me
>filters out 3Dspatialets
>>503251820>So if you're using legendary ingredients it should always be in a machine with max productivity?Yes. Unless your name is Nilaus. If your name is Nilaus, you do a YouTube playthrough where you take the audience through a half hour autistic tour-de-force with Excel spreadsheets before telling them you should always put prod in the legendary tier; and then you fuck up by putting quality in there and don't correct it for 2 episodes running -- all the while complaining that you're running low on legendary modules.
>>503252708Don't worry about a quality mall until you have T3 modules. 10% quality means 90% of your items get nothing. 75% of those 9 items are lost on recycling, and 90% of those 75% of those 9 items are garbage yet again.Feel free to do quality ore mines at any time. It's a great way to stockpile parts. Quality coal is needed for plastic. Quality calcite does nothing, it only creates liquid outputs.Quality scrap and quality recycling is pretty much kind of the whole point of fulgora.
>>503252290depends on damage bonus research.
>searchlights can extend the range of flamethrowers 3 chunks awayThat is not balancedBut I'll allow it
I have no idea how to calculate the amount of liquid I need in my tank to keep my thrusters running at a certain % efficiency so I just start travelling and fiddle with the numbers until it's more or less where I want it
>inserter grabs bioflux to put into biter nest>it rots mid-swing>it's now stuck holding spoilage for eternity and the biter nest becomes hostileis there a way to fix this other than making sure bioflux never spoils?
>>503252708Fulgora to bootstrap quality, but the real endgame builds are quality asteroid reprocessing on space platforms, since they give a lot better chance at getting a quality item than recycling
>>503254186vibes based engineering is valid in non-lethal circumstances
>>503254186alt-click your thrusters. The min-max consumption is 10-200% of whatever is in there.
>load rocket turret with capture rockets in case a nest starves so I can capture it again>actually, if a nest starves the game makes all of your turrets ignore it forever>you can't remove this protection>the only way to fix it is to manually walk there and capture or destroy it yourselfthis shit is so half-baked

>>503255786still not automatic
>>503254887There are so many stupid fucking "balance decisions" that exist in this game that if everything else wasn't so good I'd have regretted buying it so long ago.Capture Rockets in a Rocket Turret seem like the perfect, intended way to to deal with nests wilding, having a rocket turret to play steward over that block of your factory. Sure, I suppose it's a stopgap for bad efficiency/ratios or whatever where you don't have enough captive/artificial spawners to consume a steady enough stream of bioflux for it to not spoil, but who the fuck is perfect? You should be able to engineer solutions to problems that you create through virtue of being a redneck engineer.
>>503255786I think you can't force shoot with the spidertron.
WHAT THE FUCK
>>503255959>>503256238try it. the spidertron auto shoots nests with capture bots.
>>503256176it's not even a balance decision, it's a "players are too retarded to handle this so we'll do it for them" decision. they think you're too retarded to blacklist the turrets near captured nests from shooting nests, so they play the game for you.

Buffer grows while it's stationary at aquilo>>503254186Just make 1 or 2 chem plants for each fluid, it'll be fine>>503254324Did this actually happen to you? Because I think they added trash slots in every machine that hold spoiled versions of everything. Those also get used if you switch the recipe of a machine while it has stuff in it.
>>503256706anon ...
>>503256706Everyone can see your shame.
>>503257023yes, it constantly happens to me. I even set hand size to 1 to make sure they don't grab more than necessary but every time I turn around there's a feral nest with an inserter holding 1 spoilage next to it
>>503256268Look at the damage resistances. You HAVE to have rocket turrets for those. Not a choice, you won't make it otherwise.
>>503257023You can't put things in trash slots. If an inserter grabs spoilage (or grabs an item that then rots) it's gonna hold it forever
>>503251527I like the fuck you turrets at the front, 9/10
>>503257352Yeah I made now with rocket turrets, but the ship ran out of rockets when I was below, need to figure out how to produce rockets on the platform now cheers

How to add stuff to the Spidertron ghost equipment grid so I can blueprint it?
Want to make a massive space factory that I can park anywhere and get every resource I could ever ask for since it's theoretically possible but I'm gated by my room temperature IQ.

>>503257352once you have about 100 physical damage researches done, the yellow ammo will be enough to deal with the big asteroids.
>>503256268Pity you can't just build a huge wall at the front of your ship and barge through all the asteroids like an icebreaker ship. There's only one solution
>>503258395>you can't just build a huge wall at the front of your ship and barge through all the asteroids like an icebreaker shipBut you can place walls on ships, what exactly is stopping you?
>>503258301you'd need at least 1996 damage researches, or if you use legendary yellow ammo, about 799 researches
>>503259054the ammo and turret bonuses stack multiplicatively. you "only" need 97 researches to get past 400x base bullet damage.
everything started stacking all of a sudden and now my fifty hour old fulgora abomination locked up
>>503257548>>503257312Ok I looked it up and seems you can't insert into trash slots when the output is already full. So the fix is to add another inserter that moves eggs from the spawner into a burner. Then use a circuit condition to only move eggs into the burner if the bioflux inserter's contents has spoilage >0.Or you could just always remove all eggs from the spawner and burn the excess.See https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?p=642467
Goddamn I didn't realize how large some of these nests were on this seed and how close they were to spawn, but they're dead now. Needed to hide behind a pair of turrets while slowly whittling through a clump of 5 biter nests with a shotgun.
>>503256268I think there should be a "planet" similar to the Shattered Planet which is some sort of Tyranid hive fleet eque biomass swarm of alians you can skim the outside of, shooting extremities/swarm drones to harvest more bioshit.
>>503259029hitting walls isn't gonna break or stop the asteroids, they're just gonna carve a path straight through your ship

will heating towers in aquilo stay hot for longer if I don't use them to make steam
Red ammo doesn't seem worth it to me for my aquillo platform. It seems like a lot of extra resources for not that much more damage. Instead of making one red ammo I will simply make 3 yellow ammo.
>>503261074oil wagon on the ore train = soul
>>503261920Yellow ammo works perfectly fine especially if you keep researching damage.
>>503261074mmmmh yummy rails
WHY DID YOU GIVE ME ELEVATED RAILSLOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONETHE FAULT, AS EVER, LIES WITH YOU, EARENDEL
Kinda just now learning trains even though I already beat the game. I don't need 50k light oil on my uranium mining outpost turret perimeter but the train wagon has 50k which means if I add a tank there I'm consuming 75k light oil just to supply a mining operation, if I wire the pump on the outpost then I get to fill it to 5k or whatever but the train wagon ate 50k by itselt. Can you limit how much a train gets filled with a circuit somehow?
>>503261074Just destroy any nest where they might have come from. If you want to be 100% sure, place some artillery outposts that outrange your pollution cloud around your map.
So how much rocket fuel per minute do you need to satisfy a constant 1MW worth of power demand, assuming using heating tower?
>>503262575wire the train station, it has "read train contents"
Anyone try out AAI loaders? I'm more interested in them because of how aesthetically pleaing they are compared to how silly inserters are than I am interested in the throughput. Not sure if I want to use them where they require lube, it would definitely be a fucked design constraint to work around making my blueprints, or to just use the version where they're really expensive to craft.Aside from that, right now I'm messing around in blueprint sandbox to see how they stack up against stack inserters for endgame.
>>5032628981 Rocket fuel burns into 250MWs, so you need approximately 1 every 4 minutes, or 1 per minute every 4 MW demand or 1 per second every 250 MW demand(you will need more than one heating tower at that point too)
>>503262898Your question is poorly worded, you'd be better off calculating rocket fuel per second since then you can just convert it directly into mw.Burner tower has 250% efficiency1 rocket fuel per second is effectively 100mwGo from there.
>>503263472I like loading trains and labs with them, but using them for everything is fucked. They're OP without lube requirement, but with the lube req, they're pretty well balanced and have specific use cases

>>503265026Throughput of a regular belt instead of 1 inserter.
>>503264702niche game devs that think they can just jump onto the mainstream genres always make me laugh
>>503265026They load/unload at the rate of belt speed according to the tier, you have yellow/red/blue/green loaders. They also un/load both sides of the belt making it full.I tested in sandbox with a green unloader into a green belt into a green loader into a chest vs a stack inserter onto a green belt to a stack inserter loading into a chest with the chests wired to turn on a light at 1000 cogs filled. The loader setup, despite not being able to make stacks, filled the chest markedly faster.

What does "piercing power" mean exactly? How do I stop restarting when I get stuck? I never made it past red chips yet...
>>503278181Piercing power means how many destructible entities will the shell penetrate before being stopped. Explosive shells won't explode upon each penetration, they just go through entities until stopped, and then it explodes.
This is great, I won't need to import calcite for foundries anymore with this>>503278181If you have an explosive shell and enemy HP is below piercing power it'll go through an enemy without exploding potentially hitting another enemy behind him, this can go on for multiple enemies as long as it doesn't run out of piercing power and when it does run out only then will it explode
>>503278390How the fuck do you """"get stuck""""". If you made it to red chips, you've already done oil processing, which is the biggest difficulty spike until you launch rockets. How about this. Instead of restarting next time, build a new factory 5 feet to the right of your old factory. There is no reason not to do this.

>>503282710Right, that's what I was getting at.It just seems really weird to me because damage can be upgraded a shitton, but piercing power never upgrades. And most shells have piercing power close to their initial, un-upgraded damage. So once you upgrade damage enough, their relative piercing power becomes almost useless. So for example say I want to shoot a destroyer with a uranium shell, it'll just deal 12000 damage to the front segment and that's it, despite being "piercing", and I'm better off just using explosive shells at that point as a straight upgrade.

Surely Factorio will get its turn next year ... right?
I haven't played Space Age yet (because too busy with Satisfactory), but for me Satisfactory is pretty significantly better than vanilla Factorio. It's way more chill *and* also more engaging. It gives you better direction *and* more creative freedom.Factorio you could argue has better pure factory building (I wouldn't make that argument, btw, I think they are both about equal), but Satisfactory adding kickass exploration, being a great creative outlet and also managing to have a quality story pushes it beyond Factorio.
>>503305905What am I looking at here
>>503305418correct, that's why i made that claim. i just settle with output priority
>>503306394Over 600 labs built to handle 8 belts worth of each science. When I turned it on I had 6.1k SPM. It was satisfying for my 2nd mega factory. I should have taken a picture when they were running. Don't feel like reloading 1.1 to screenshot things.
There is something that really annoys me about that "coffee" thing from that game. Redditcore? What is it supposed to be?
>>503306371satisfactory takes too long to make anything that looks like a factory; and if you think that isn't a problem because you are building on giant fields of floating foundation, you aren't playing satisfactory, switch over to factorio and quit larp'ing
>>503306782are you talking about the game from the developer "Coffee Stain Studios"?
>>503306782Before you could press a button to sheathe your equipment and hide your hands, people would run around with the smallest item possible in their hand all the time so as to not block their view while building. The smallest item you could hold was a beryl nut. It was absurd and some people complained so the devs decided to give them a coffee cup instead.
>>503306852Factorio is far less approachable, much more punishing, the learning curve is quite extreme. Also, the art direction is meh, the story is next to nonexistent, and the graphics aren't great even for a 2D game. It's complex, with much broader selection of builds, scenarios, recipes, etc.Satisfactory is much more accessible to broader audience, less punishing, its art is beautiful, its story and lore are rather shallow but present, and it balances difficulty, complexity and progress very well. It's a great game for a much broader audience.
>>503307135>Also, the art direction is mehThe fuck you say?
>>503306371decent baitpost, would be hard to make it more reddit
are bots the best way to load science labs when you're at 5+ science per building? this shit sucks with belts
>>503307135Plus, the extra freedom of 3D plus a smaller grid to build on means you can do a lot to make your stuff look wildly different, and streamlining can go crazy when you have the option to drop your conveyor belt down 3 floors, run it along the ceiling of your ground floor, then come back up a level to feed it directly into a manifold. You can do things like stack two splitters on the back of an assembler with lifts going down to the assembler inputs, then enclose that in walls with power hookups and make a blueprint out of it to essentially make your own brand new machine that's a total improvement over the base assembler and fits into a smaller footprint. You can build a column of these machines and fit 10 assemblers in a 10x10 box that's 10 stories tall.

What the fuck were they thinking having different tiers and not even letting you import blueprints from the previous ones? After that they need to figure out how to get pic related to happen. Allow blueprints to automatically connect to other blueprints belts/pipes/rails so you can easily build a line without wanting to fucking die.

Well, I think that is fast enough space ship. The asteroids barely have time to spawn. 1255km/s.
>>503315931Hmmm. In that case I'd suggest making a blueprint book with 1,2,3,4,5,6, etc. belts. Hold the book and use shift+scrollwheel to switch between the lengths. Name them so the it pops up as you go. https://rentry.co/dyv9tx28Here's an example you can try out.
Factorio bros... I hate to say it but I think I am losing the battle against the FUCKING BUGS!!! They have me running around refilling my fucking turrets and I have to manually address so many fucking problems. Is my own pollution actually fucking me? Is it possible for the bugs to out evolve your weaponry if you aren't fast enough? I am trying to get flame turrets up now but the bug hives regrow so quickly even after I use the tank to crush them. The bugs are winning... What contributes to bug expansion anyway? Is it literally just pollution? I am finding that by me killing them, the pollution they were eating now spreads farther to other bugs because it isn't being consumed anymore.
>>503316487It's neat that you can make that but I still think the width drag shit is a garbage mechanic. No clue why they decided to go with that.
Can Biters cross water?I've cleared this section inside my walls three fucking times and I left a radar behind this time to find where the fuck they're getting in. This nest just appeared there even though there should be no way to get there due to the walls and turrets I have at the choke points
>>503316674If you have a tank then that means you have oil. Just hook oil into flamethrower turrets and delete the bugs. Surround your outposts in walls if you need to and take a bunch of barrels of oil there to unload into a storage tank until you can hook up a train or pipeline.

new hauler design for aquilo (im already set up there now to automate it)
>>503316707Yeah it's kinda silly but I don't know how to make it better. More realistic would be mass but there is probably a reason they didn't do it that way.In real life it would probably be a lot of gravity assists and as I understand, the speed that can be maintained from gravity assists is limited by the deepness into the gravity well the ship can go without experiencing atmospheric drag.

>>503316707They should have made a max Platform Size (in foundation squares) that you increase with research. Hook it into the rocket efficiency function or else give platforms a minimum thrust they need to start moving and handwave it as escaping the gravity well or somesuch. Width is already punished by having more asteroids in your path. While I'm at the kvetching, current platforms requiring complete asteroid self-sufficiency from the start is lame and should have been saved for later in the tech tree. >>503330348If the goal is to make players contend with the challenges of compact builds and encourage the use of quality buildings, they should have made a system that actually does that. Up-front cost is negligible so right now the only downsides of going bigger are fuel reserves, defenses, and travel time. The first two solve themselves by going bigger and allowing you to collect more resources and fit more buildings in. The last is a difference in time so small it's ignorable unless you're aiming for high SPM.
