How the fuck do I get competent gear once I hit 80? Heart of Thorns is bodying my Elementalist even with dodging and utilizing my full survability kit. Every guide I have read is like "go by x, y, z to start" and I have like a couple of gold from playing 1-80 and doing personal story so nothing is affordable. Off the top of my head Rifle Mechanist is extremely easy if you have EoD (you literally just press 1 and have your robot autoattack for massive damage). Greatsword Reaper is a very popular choice as well due to shroud giving you a second health bar while also having an extremely simplistic rotation, Reapers manage some of the highest DPS in groups while having a lot of survivability.

That being said the rotation is still a lot easier and it does have better sustain overall with lifesteal and the crazy good heal. Also I don't know if this was like some weird quirk with me being retarded or something but without using computer boons and going in bald they both rested on roughly the same deeps at 25k, so if you're playing solo I'd argue Conduit is way better (neither of which compete with Herald in that regard anyway though obviously). If you wanted to use Legendary Dwarf Stance in current year I'd say Conduit is the way to go, that's how I've been using it normally and I really like it.

Plenty of Mastery grinding to be had too. Yeah you won't be able to just fly to a collectible but the raptor is plenty competent as is the glider. The only real draw back is fewer elite specs. There's always plenty going on throughout all the expansions due to mastery farm and collecting. I wouldn't think of the game like WoW where you need to hit the most recent expansion. Once you hit 80 you're largely just dicking around with whatever you want/collecting.

>>545961876no, its more like a mishmash of design philosophy, the reason you had mounts in wow was because it was the only way to get around and if you died there was frequent graveyards to res at, also they embraced more 3d maps with mountains and thats never not going to be ass to traverse without a flying mount. the problem with gw2 is that you can only ress and get around by waypoint and by hot they reduced the amount each map has compared to core, on top of the maps being kinda ass to walk around either by layout or really dangerous mobs, and by pof they kept the reduced waypoint count and introduced mounts to compensate. they designed themselves into a corner by opening pandoras box, because by making hot really hard by design, they had to introduce mounts later to compensate, which they wouldnt have had to do had they not catered to the 0.0000001% of players and just put more waypoints on the maps
