Ruins are recruitment factories.
I got a map full of ruins and think I found a dozen cryptosleep caskets tucked away in them, half of which had good pawns inside, and of the remaining half, half of them had pawns that would've been ok in a pinch but got passed over for not being ideal.
I doubled the size of my colony in a single quadrum thanks to this.

There's a couple mods that modify how Psyhcic Bonds work but honestly it's just easier to cherrypick the whole fucking thing out imo because it's a dogshit gene that barely does anything useful for a retarded cost. If I remember right multiple pawns can bond but you only get the benefits of one, and the pawn with two bonds will only show one. And yes they all have to be on the same map.
The bond is permanent, but the relationship status isn't. Praise Tynan!
There was a mod called psychic bond tweaks that could have helped indirectly, but it's not updated to 1.6.

I harvested it out of a Highmate prisoner and put it in my God Mode Full Archite xenogerm thinking the mood and performance boosts would make my best pawns even better, and I thought the cherry on top would be that pawns wouldn't get broken up with if they bonded with a mate. But my Moral Guide is single so he keeps bonding with the lovers of other pawns and I keep save scumming to avoid it. He doesn't seem to ever go for the wife of a married pawn, so I'm wondering if I just need to figure out how to force these stupid assholes to get married asap instead of being engaged/lovers for quadrums on end.
It's fucking retarded that Tynan essentially made marriage an RNG event that can happen at the worst possible times with no player control. Real marriages get planned weeks or months in advance.

I gave like 6 pawns the xenogerm, some were already in relationships, and those that weren't got paired off and bonded as soon as they woke up from the implantation coma. I thought as soon as I paired them all off they're be permanent relationships, but the one pawn that doesn't have a partner yet (his partner was 14 at the time and I didn't know you had to wait until 16 to romance) will randomly bond with the partner of some other pawn with the gene and steal them. I'm trying to find him a mate in hopes that it settles him down but no one eligible has come along yet.

I'm just going to look for a better fix, because that inheritance mod has made sure all the kids born to parents with that gene have it, too. I once had to resort to leaving just a pilot and copilot behind on the ship, drop podding down to the planet with the rest of the colony to build a farm and start hunting animals, then bring the ship down after its engines were cooled off. I had just enough packaged survival meals and baby food to sustain 2 pawns in space and they were still moderately starving when they finally made it down.

They did but they were 1x3 rooms and that certainly got them berserking and breaking down the doors every few days so I later changed it to a communal prison with a public shower and separate toilet and that kept them happy until slaved.
Point is, there is a purpose to making sure prisoners are happy, more so if you have no non lethal means of stopping them once they go berserk, which I think vanilla only has 2.

I already tried to seal all the entrances to the cave and light stacks of wood on fire, but I underestimated how fast they can dig trough the layers of walls i built, and they made a hug gap to a roofless "courtyard' near the bottom left of pic related. now i don't think i can reseal them in without aggroing them. Don't do the boomalope aggro strat. An enraged animal attacks the closest enemy, but there aren't any boomalopes near your base now. You can try to enrage the slooth, they can take some punishment.
If you can leave the base safely, do it. But you will have to start from zero.
I do think this is salvagable though. You can have 3 aromred pawns behind a door so they do 3 vs 1 against the bugs. If you have drugs, use them. Bugs are also weak to fire so you can bait them inside a room (with open door so they don't break the door), fill it with chemfuel and start fighting there.

What's that? Prop mods are pretty easy to make because you can copy/paste the xml and only need to change a few things like the texture path and name/defname.

One incredibly annoying thing about Rimworld is the fact that unlike other games it fucking dies just from normal gameplay.
DF dies if you go crazy with liquid mechanics and turn 7 man fort into 500 dwarfs maze full of particles and physics implememnts.
DSP starts you with a robot and ends with you building a fucking Dyson sphere and it doesnt die fps wise.

I took a look, the medkits filth look really good.
Ammo casings is only one texture so even with rotations it will start to look samey if used too much.
I will probably yoink the medkits and rifle/highcal/red shotgun casings for myself.
I can also make it a mod and share it since it's not much extra work.
Do you use CE? If so I can make a dependent version. Also, are you like me and prefer fewer redundant items, or do you prefer to go full autism and want every color of shotgun shells AND the grenade pins you probably can't even see on the floor AND the pistol casings that are barely different from the rifle casings, etc?

Hover over the altar down in the buildings section. If you want to check your pawns' expectations then check their needs tab. They'll notify you once you need to make the altar and tell you what you need to do, so you don't have to worry. You can't hire mercenaries in vanilla but you can call for military aid in exchange for goodwill if you're allied with them

The colony managed to recover the secrets to creating powerful biomechanical beings known as "Idearn" from a hostile alien biomechanical plant, and by using its remnants, managed to recreate one of the most advanced model recorded. Her strength was unimaginable, capable of subjugating hundreds of soldiers on her own. She was so powerful that the colony decided to never let her engage in combat unless they truly have no other choice.
But will she really be enough to fell the Bird?

Digging deeper into the recovered data reveals a fragmented, encrypted section, with an excerpt referencing another model. A model much more powerful. Might this be the key to overcoming their impending doom?
Though the data was corrupted and seemingly tampered with, through six years of research, the blueprint was completed, and the model is now only one step away from completion. But right before activating the model, an ominous premonition. Should we really do this? If the previous model is powerful enough to fight entire wars by herself, then what will this biomechanical beast be capable of? Why was the data corrupted? Why did it seem like someone deliberately tried to destroy all records of it?
What if... it was never meant to be created?
And so the model lies dormant, never to be activated... for now.

The operation began at dawn.
The Bird seems to have a number of heavy mechanoids guarding her, so a sniper team was sent to chip through their numbers and lure them away from the main target.
It only took an hour before the team had to fall back. A chirping sound was heard, then wounds began to rapidly emerge on the snipers. The Bird seems to counter any form of hostility around her with some sort of wide range attack that continuously damages the target. The mechanoids also seem to be determined to stay by the Bird's side. Sending the Idearn's disposable biomech army may be the best approach.

Annihilation of the mechanoid squadron was a success. The Idearn's biomech soldiers were able to withstand the Bird's chirping far better than our more organic members, and were able to swiftly destroy the sub-targets. One of the snipers mentioned that they have misfired at the target and though the bullet made contact, she was left unscathed. The operation will proceed under the assumption that the target is immune to ranged attacks. The biomechs will now launch a direct assault on the Bird.

The biomechs were defeated in an instant. The moment they launched a simultaneous close-range attack, the Bird launched an unknown destructive wave that disabled all of the biomechs at once. As the wounds were growing quite grievous on some of the members, the team were forced to retreat. One biomech was retrieved for further study.

Close investigation on the afflicted biomech reveals that it might be possible to suppress the destructive wave through ranged attacks. A lower-class Idearn and a Requeen offspring was sent to test out the hypothesis.
The hypothesis was proven to be true, but rapidly shooting at the target provoked even more chirping. The lower-class Idearn continuously incurred wounds for six hours after disengaging, bringing it close to death despite its reinforced body. Surviving a prolonged engagement is deemed to be impossible.
The Requeen offspring seems to be immune to the chirping, but continued melee attacks seems to inch the attacker closer and closer to insanity. The offspring went berserk after two hours of hacking at the target, and has not returned to sanity after 8 hours. It is unknown if the mental corrosion is based on the amount of damage it dealt, or the length of time it spent attacking.
It has only been one day, but hints of despair has spread through the colony.

For tool I recommend Inkscape especially for apparel, I can share some templates if you need. For your first project I recommend trying for something simple like a symmetrical weapon (a sword or axe). Apparel is kinda tough for your first project if you aren't used to the tool.

Time to say goodbye to this colony. They are strong enough that they are in their happily ever after mode.
I liked this village of ragtags that started with 4 kiiros, Colette being pregnant so she had to be protected (she eventually gave birth to Seth, who is the main tailor and fighter, defeating a mech cluster by herself with just Morna's smoke support).
They now are strong enough to defeat any raid with minimal injuries thanks to their legendary precision rifles (kiiro version of assault rifle which has almost as much range as a sniper rifle) and the 3 strike team who assassinates every dangerous elements.
This village is also able to raid any pirate outpost and completely wipe them out. Not even sappers or drop pod raids can defeat them since their army of thrumbos, megasloths and the 3 melee fighters (Seph, Borf and the merchant Tara) make short work on them.
They built enough atmospheric heaters to have an all year growing season so the only setbacks is a toxic fallout that doesn't even last 15 days so the stockpiled food and the few sunlamp powered fields are enough for this.
Now they spend their time enjoying lavish meat meals (they hire maids for this), they also hire other Kiiros to drill and cut stones and the speed at which they are making floors increased. They also always buy canned food spiked with catnip from the Kiiro merchants.
Time to start a new colony.

Is there any hidden rulemaking behind what raids you get sent? Because I keep getting spammed with fucking yttakin or rough outlander mortar squads with heavy weapons and more armor than me that set up and pound my base from a distance and force me to run out, hit them enough to make them chase me before they start shelling my base, then hope they don't get any lucky shots on my bait pawns as they lead them back to some turrets and traps.
I can't fight them in the open because they outnumber my pawns 2 to 1 and have better guns and armor, and I can't wait them out because of the mortars. And it's every single fucking raid. I haven't had any luck so far getting my own mortar tubes or mortars to fire back with, either. Probably because these fucks usually bring rocket launchers and fire them off in their own groups try to hit my bait pawns.

Nothing special, as far as I know. Both faction type and raid type are picked randomly from a weighted pool of valid options.
If there's a lot of raiders and their gear is way better than yours then your wealth is probably too high for you to handle, or they are spawning with OP modded items.

yeah thats the one I use but I feel like it gives waay too many caravans and other bullshit. psycast raids are great, they're rare enough that I genuinely forget about them and then some raider pulls out crazy bullshit. I'm honestly htinking of just going back to Basilicus who is just randy + the psycasts. Or was, until I saw anon's hotseat. Now I'm trying to figure out who all I want in the rotation but modded storytellers have such little documentation and so few reviews that have decent feedback.

My colony wealth is $435k but virtually none of it has been put into high tech armor or weapons. My colonists are using Industrial Era weapons and mostly normal and good quality recon, marine, and flak armor looted from raiders.
20 days ago, my wealth was just $300k.
60 days ago it was $200k.
I've spent the past in-game year flying my gravship to Ruins maps and Grav Core maps and plundering as much as I can from them. My population exploded, as did the size of my ship and its inventory, but I struggled to get Advanced Component Fabrication off the ground so I haven't yet outfitted everyone in advanced armor.

Can raids hit asteroids? Because I'm playing a Shipborn ideoligion and thinking it might be time to settle a home base on an asteroid so I can make my grav ship more lean and combat-ready.
I like the idea of having a cozy little farming community in orbit for the women and children while the men of the colony explore the surface and raid pirate bases, but I half expect that mechanoids and maybe outlander factions might still raid asteroids.

The mod makes them great meatshields, the beeg dryads can tank a lot of hits, and if they do get in melee they can beat up mechanoids and insects without trouble.
I imagine I'll be introuble if it gets to 100 raiders but so far they can just overwhelm any raids with their numbers, I got like 8 connected gauranlen trees,each giving me 4 dryads and a beeg dryad.

They hace so many quests and features that you can have them with any other mod without problem.
I especially like the merchant mechanics in which they can settle in your colony (either from inviting them in their village or from a quest) and they buy and sell things inside, like the watchmaker who sells plasteel, components and funny things like screwdriver (an utility equipment that improves mechanoid shredding and repair speed) or a pocket watch (improves global workspeed).
Also, the many quests and goodwill based features like asking for temporary helpers or asking for military aid makes you feel that they really are your allies (their soldiers they send you are strong enough to fight against endgame raids).
My only pet peeve with them is that they can only equip their unique apparels which can only be made in their unique tailoring benches.

Ny solution was full vanilla. It doesn't even need anomaly DLC (atmospheric heaters).
Enclosing the geyser with a structure made of vents and doors can give you infinite heat. Then is a amtter of makibg more rooms connected with open doors (or vents) to avoid overheating.
25% -1 tile unroofed can keep the temp u til the 299 tiles limit. 299 tiles is enough to feed, dress and drug a mid sized colony.
You can make aanother unroofed room connected to the geyser room with a vent to make more farming space.
The 75%roofed space can be used for nutrifungus, storage and workshop.

It has been five days since the Bird's landing. The utter failure of the first assault operation and the passive nature of the Bird has led the team to focus more on investigation rather than elimination. Close observation and various tests were done regularly under extreme caution, and several important key points were found.
First, the Bird's outer body structure is similar to the alien biomechanical plant known as "Requeen", despite the stark visual differences. Unlike a Requeen, the Bird seems to lack regenerative capabilities in return for having a far tougher "shell". Using previous Requeen encounters as a point of reference, this finding allows the colony to estimate the amount of damage they have done to the target. Currently, the Bird's shell has sustained roughly 20% of the damage needed to expose the core.

It is found that the attack hits a small area around a single person at random intervals, and receiving more than one instance of the attack is lethal. The maximum engagement time with the target on regular conditions is approximately two hours. One member engaged the target for three hours and died the next day covered in countless open wounds due to the chirping lasting for longer than expected. The members of the colony were able to resurrect her with a serum, but they only have so many of them in store. It is critical for the afflicted to immediately retreat upon hearing a chirping-like sound.
The dragon's ability to regenerate wounds of allies for a short time has proven to be effective, but it is only enough to extend engagement time by approximately one hour. Nevertheless, she will prove to be the key to overcoming this ordeal.

One of the main factors that make the chirping lethal is that it intermittently interrupts the afflicted's thought process. Patients have been observed to frequently walk out of bed, mumbling that the Bird is calling them, only to return right after. This often obstructs them from getting the rest and treatment they need. There is no known way to prevent this at the moment other than incapacitating the afflicted, so minimizing the length of the chirping becomes crucial.
Third, the Bird's influence is spreading very slowly throughout the planet. It will take approximately three years for it to devour all life at the observed rate, and for some odd reason it seems to not affect humanlikes at the moment. However, one of the colony seers felt something ominous growing within the Bird. It seems that it will reach maturity within roughly twenty days. It must be eradicated before then.
Though the seer's prediction brought a deep sense of dread, knowing that they are capable of doing noticeable damage to their archnemesis has put the colony's morale at an all-time high. From here on, it's a race against time.

The thing is that the gyser pumps heat on the bottom left part of the hole and you can abuse the stupid doors and vent mechanics that Tynan made to get infinite heat which is basically an arcotech technology in lore (infinite chemreactor description).
Surround the heat tile with open doors (made of stone so it doesn't burn).
Surround the doors with vents (except for the part that is pumping the heat). Voilá, you will overheat your base.
If you need more heat, sorround one one the tile connected to the vent with open doors (basically, treat that as the new heat tile) and sorround those doors with vents. Put walls between the vent and door so the door doesn't share the heat with a random tile.
You can keep doing this to raise the heat infinitely.

Bros I need some good bodymods/graphical mods. I was initially thinking of running sized apparel because I want diverse looks on my pawns. I aim for as many unique faces and the fact that the breasts growing or shrinking in sized apparel gives another angle to the appearance of my pawn, that is its outline.
However, after giving it a look I imagine the cock, balls, cunt and tits will get annoying on naked pawns maybe even unnecessarily crude once the initial high of having identifiable and unique pawns settle.

Anyone here running sized apparel who can give their thought on having played with it for a good while?
Also any other body mods I should try/you can recommend for me to try?

That yellow aura circle is a spell that the Dragon Princess Koelime can cast, it regenerates any wounds or scars on allies within the range and lasts for an hour, healing around 50 damage or so. It has a cooldown of 12 hours and it's particularly good at recovering the constant brain damage that the chirping does.

I used it for a long time for the same reason as you: more varied appearances.
If you do decide to use it, you can disable rendering of the genitals in the mod settings so that's not a problem.
As for my thoughts, firstly it's not worth getting unless you already have RJW in your modlist.
RJW is a pretty invasive mod even with the settings tuned way down. My RJW Tweaks mod can de-bloat it a bit, but it's not perfect and there is still the performance cost of having every single living thing in the world get 3+ hediffs.
Second, most apparel mods will need either textures to fit the body or a patch to prevent misc torso gear from hiding the breasts.
If you can live with all that, it's pretty good.
If not, maybe consider getting more diverse apparel mods and using a mod like Transmog to give them unique appearances instead.

When I built NOTHING but a water well and a crop of rice, the mechanoids let me stay for a year before they found me. Now that I'm building a barracks and dining room off-ship so my pawns don't have a tantrum spiral during the remodel, the fucking mechanoids find me immediately.

Though the previous "Astra Critias" black hole incident left the team in a state of shock, the attack has been observed to have somewhat limited range. The team had approximately 15 seconds to escape, which is more than enough for them to run double the range of the black hole. Anything caught in it will be obliterated, but the possibility of it causing casualties is low.
The line "Remaining Arche for reuse: x2" spoken after the attack implies that the Bird can only execute this attack two more times. Post-incident observation on the target reveals that it has sustained 25% damage on its shell at the time of occurence. The colony inferred that the next Astra Critias will occur on 50% and 75% damage. It is unknown if the attack will grow in size. The colony decided to continue their assault at regular intervals as they did before.

The Bird's retaliation has intensified since the black hole incident. Members of the assault team frequently come very close to death after each engagement. On the other hand, they have found that it takes very minimal suppressive fire to prevent the Bird from "flapping its wings", its most powerful attack that occurs when it receives a certain number of melee attacks without being suppressed by ranged gunfire. With four melee fighters, it only takes a single slow gunner to completely prevent the attack. Minimizing the number of gunfire means minimizing the frequency of the Bird's retaliatory attacks, and this finding has immensely increased the amount of damage they can cause before having to retreat.
With the assumption that the Bird's attacks will only grow stronger, the colony has begun construction on another lower-class Idearn, focusing on its defensive capabilities.

A tough and nimble pawn fully bionic and archotech with robust and unstoppable gene equipping legendary shield belt and phoenix armor are nigh invincible. They should also have super clotting and super fast recovery (and a healing enhancer).
They kill most things in a single hit with a legendary persona weapon, they have a lot of psyfocus and good neural heat recovery and with their long jumps, they just jump around as soon as they are in danger.
You use berserk pulse and turn most raiders unto themselves too.
Against mechs, you can even skip the centipedes to melee range.
You are severly understimating the endgame melee pawns.

Marine is just a midgame melee pawn.
And endgame melee pawn is supossed to have legendary phoenix armor (gives maximum armor) and psycasts is not free, you just turn them into nobles, meditate if tribal and get them from quests (and buy the psycast skills).
They are also supossed to have tough and nimble traits and gene modified to be robust, strong melee combat, good melee (great is overkill) and unstoppable.
With a legendary persona weapon (relic quests) your melee pawn is a god among men.
Is cheaper and faster to have 10 shooters with legendary charge/assault rifles though.
You do know how masterwork and legendary gear are completely different from excellent, right?

Jump towards one rocket/doomday, kill it. Then jump as soon as one finished firing (your pawn is invincible midair).

The better strategy is to make a killzone with a lot of shooting pawns, but when your colony is to the point that you should have done an ending ages ago, is more efficient to have the pawns crafting, cooking and cleaning while you only send 3 pawns to defeat raids.
Those 3 pawns are going to be the haulers and janitors anyways because of their gene modifications.

if the 3 melee pawn pawn gets luck and damages the arms of the 12 melee pawn the latter is going to quickly be at a disadvantage, that's why tough is important for decreasing any incoming damage and nimble for avoiding it
also it's not just a shitty mace, excellent and above quality make a big difference and uranium is one of the best materials for blunt weapons

Locust armor protection pales in comparison to pheonix. Phoenix at legendary reaches the max protection (200%) and it also makes fire damamge negligible.

I'm not as good with code errors but I have two ideas.
The only mod mentioned that stands out is Achtung, maybe it's not playing nice with dryads.
Also, it seems strange to me that the growing job errors is somehow tied to storyteller events but you can make a save and delete the dryads that cause errors with dev mode. If storyteller events fire back up it at least you can play and just not use the grower dryads.

Don't use the pawn randomizer, just use pawn editor.
The auto pawn randomizer gives you realistic pawns, but save so many pawns it also creates a lot of relationships so you will have 1k+ kins eating your tps.
