Okay, so I'm watching Adventure 2020 for the first time and I need to get some things off my chest about it. As a show, it is fine in its own right, but it doesn't exist in its own right. It exists as a remake to the original, so it will be compared to it.The main positive is that the fights are way better in this and its not even close. So good on them for that, but it kind of doesn't matter since everything around it falls apart.First, the characters. In the original, the kids all acted like kids. They got scared, frequently got hungry and tired, and most of all, they'd even fight with eachother. They all had issues with which they had to deal with and grew from it as a result. With 2020, what issues are there? Tai is already a perfect leader. Matt's friendship issues are that he's too quiet sometimes. Oh no, how dreadful. Joe is already trying to be the most responsible one and even Mimi isn't selfish. In the original, Tai and Matt's friendship grows through adversity. From the early moments of arguing about if they should climb Infinity Mountain or not, to throwing fists around Frigimon, and even having their Mega level digimon fight with eachother. There were issues. With 2020, nope. No problems here! Why they get along so great that they're making Omnimon within 3 episodes! Tai is also just a natural born leader now. Everyone follows him without question or complaint and why wouldn't they? He never screws up. Unlike in the original where he messes up so bad that he dark digivolves Greymon into Skullgreymon. Even in the Dark Masters arc he's still not a perfect leader as he doesn't realize how hard he's pushing all the others and not considering what he needs to do for them. Then there's Piximon's training, Tai learning the difference between courage and recklessness at Etemon's firewall, the show is full of moments of character growth like this![1/3]

We gotta make Tai look strong for Summerslam, so he can never take a pin. Not just Tai of course, all of them. Every single encounter ends up being an absolute win. This would be fine if it was just the team winning, but everyone on the team always wins too. Back to the original show's File Island arc and we've got our guys doing some jobs early. Greymon and Garurumon both got whooped in a 2 on1 against Andromon. The team still got the win with Kabuterimon, but it was okay that the other heroes fought and lost, because the team still won. We see this again in the same arc, with Greymon and Birdramon jobbing to Unimon before Ikkakumon gets the win. All of this was not just fine, but good. Heck, in the Etemon arc, the entire team routinely gets their asses beat by Etemon just to retreat. Now we look at our 2020 show. Even in the episodes in which we get a new digivolution, the others in the group still have to look strong. Tai and Agumon refuse to eat a pin in both Izzy and Mimi's Ultimate digivolving episodes. Matt does the same with both Sora and Joe's. It's like they're afraid to ever have any of the main cast take a loss. It's become very noticeable.[2/3]

In the original, there was a natural buildup of rising tension before the fights and a cool down afterwards. At the end of arcs, there was typically an entire episode for us to just breath. We didn't need the constant combat and rushing from one thing to the next. The show took its time and manged to have more happen in less episodes as a result. I see that 2020 even has 13 more episodes than the original. Episode 29 of the original show, we're returning to the real world in the Myotismon arc. Episode 29 in 2020, well, I saw the title of the next episode. Yet despite rushing through the Digimon's forms, it feels like not much has really happened. The Devimon arc got more time to cook, which was great, but Devimon himself still didn't get much of a spotlight for how long the arc was. Once that arc was over, we basically jump out of a plane and skydive into the next arc. Episode 28, we finish our battle of the episode and it's less than 15 seconds later that Kari is abruptly kidnapped. Show, can we calm the fuck down for 2 freaking minutes even?I still have every intention of finishing the show, and don't mistake my gripes, I do still like the 2020 version, but it isn't stacking up to the original for me.[3/3]

I was looking at images of a Digimon World 2 strategy guide, and from the number of times they post images of her at the beginning, you would think that Ayumi/Kim is the female player character. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if early on in development that was the plan and they nixed it because it was easier that way. It also has just the 3D model of Blikmon/Tinmon in a reoccurring section that uses the official artwork, so I guess even the people then knew it wasn't quite a thing. Also it ends the walkthrough at Neo Crimson, so nothing about the Guardians and final boss. (Also it calls the recolor trio by their original names and doesn't even have a screenshot of Chaos Greymon.)
