Some threads ago I've posted here expressing my disappointment with It's my Own Invention and Anons who responded left me under the impression that I'm bound to have a bad time with the next chapter.Despite this discouragement I decided to press on. First on, I caught up on Kimika's ending in It's my Own Invention and was immediately rewarded with some of the most touching scenes in the story so far.During Looking-glass Insects I unwittingly went through Kimika's route first which happened to be fortunate. One of my main issues with the previous chapter was Mamiya's characterization, which I perceived as a bit too one-note (even though I've intuited the personality-split thing quite early on). His presentation in Looking-glass Insects put some of the weaker parts into perspective and made my overall impression of the previous chapter more positive.It's a good thing I didn't start with the True End route, since the amount of misery right of the bat after It's my Own Invention would probably be too much for me (it's all thanks to the best girl that I didn't give up). After getting accustomed to its darker themes, Looking-glass Insects proves to be quite moving as well and overall more balanced than the previous episode. Having the whole chapter in perspective, the bullying segments don't take too much space and the story structure, with its more optimistic first half, seems to be decently planned.The ending, even though the reader knows it already, leaves a huge impression thanks to the additional knowledge of Zakuro's motivation and the way Ronsard and Satie references finally come together in one scene. Overall, SCA-Ji's most pronounced strength seems to be his ability to recontextualize previous events and leave just enough gaps in the bigger picture to keep the reader guessing what's going to happen in subsequent chapters. I've been way too harsh on him after It's my Own Invention.

And the next 13 years just loop forever in their mind, playing out from different perspectives each time? I previously thought that Zakuro in DTRH1 was just another creation of Mamiya Tomosane, where the old Yuki personality got trapped after being cut-off. I thought her sending the text to the entire message-board and dropping the doll at 5:58 on the 16th was supposed to represent the actions of Takuji leaking into that false reality. But the weird thing is Takuji *didn't* send any texts yet on the 12th (I know his explanation that it was Zakuro herself must be bullshit because of LGI), he was unconscious during the directing of Senagawa off the building, and we never see who fucks with the teacher inside of the ark in IMOI. Yuki experiences the same time skips in the false world it seems (like when then sky sped up right before Senagawa's death). Zakuro having memories that the Tomosane body couldn't know of (like her argument with Ayana before the suicide) doesn't make sense either if this is just his personality stuff. >World girl / Sky girlYuki remembers what Tomosane said about disliking sunflowers and clearly refers to him as another person, so it doesn't make sense if the person she "swore to protect" is Hasaki.
