With all it’s free features if you’re playing on lichess you’re stealing money from the chess community
>>547914376I think most people play on both anyway:>chesscom prosbetter cheat detection everyone having flags makes it easier to avoid indian pakis and other cheating nationsdoesn't have unhinged mods that will mute you ever the slightest thing but will do nothing about cheaters like lichess>lichess proseverything is freeless lagbetter engine and analysis better UIa ton of resources like studies, master database, player database, humans like bots etc which are all either paywalled, inferior or simply absent on chesscombetter braodcastsnot owned by jewsIt comes down to how much you value cheaters getting banned and even then I get the impression that lichess has less cheaters overall but seeing even obvious cheaters get away with it disgusts me so much I only play rated on chesscom these days, I use lichess for everything else though
>>547914376I play on lichess because I love it. It does everything a chess site should and then some, for free. I don't play on .scam, fuck that site and fuck the people running it.
>>547916014>cheese.com >cheat detectionlol, lmao evenalso cheat.com has like 5x as many indians because all the indian-coded streamers such as roz the poz play on it and aggressively advertise its interface features in their thumbnails and such
>>547914376>>547916014Thank you for the answers anons. I'm leaning more and more toward choosing Lichess as my main. It really does seem like the better chess site, especially for bullet and blitz. If any other anons want to chime in, please do.
>>547917850say what you want about .scam but someone as blatant as lordbentham wouldn't last a week there, on lichess he gets to cheat forever I acknowledged lichess has less cheaters overall and is superior in every other regard I'm not a shill but to me the fact that clowns like him go unpunished on lichess is just unacceptable and a deal breaker

>>547919141chesscom is worse in almost all respects, but they do try to keep their ratings more in line with fide or uscf ratings, which I appreciate and consider genuinely valuable. But everything else is so much worse than lichess that I rarely play there these days.I'll probably go back sometime next year and play enough for my ratings to catch up with my listrength
>>547920460>they do try to keep their ratings more in line with fide or uscf ratingsThis has absolutely zero value and they fail at that anyway. t. 1600 fide 1900.coom

Sindarov is only 19
>>547922338Looks like he started studying lines and reading books in late 2024
>>547910518you should never resign period, resigning is always giving too much credit to the slightly more evolved retarded orangutan you're facing
>>547922338its insane that they wont ban him, he must have a lijanny buttbuddy or something
>>547923554I assume the mods only read a small % of reports and he got really lucky with none of the reports about him being read, considering that many of his opponents most have reported him too not just people for here that % has to be really fucking small
>>547924036theres no way
>>547922338There's a special place in hell for people like this. Dropping from 2000 (if he even got there legit in the first place) down to 1800 and not improving for two entire years probably drove him insane, so instead of getting a coach or something and working on his game, the retard started cheating.
>>547921483>they do try to keep their ratings more in line with fide or uscf ratingsThat's true. Firstly, uscf and fide ratings are themselves fairly similar at club to low master ratings, maybe diverging by around 100 points, in case you took issue with that premise.Secondly, at least a few years ago when I checked it, chesscom blitz rating tended to pretty closely match uscf elo within low club level ranges. But okay, around 2100 I think it started to diverge fairly severely, you could have 2100-2200 players who were 2400+ on chesscom blitz, or IMs with 2800 ratings, etc, as we all know. But where it's important is for players who know very little about the game, the sub 2k players who will go on lichess and report that they're 1500 strength when, if they played on chesscom, they'd have an elo barely scraping 1200.And at almost any rating level, lichess will give a more erroneously high rating than chesscom (with an exception for the very high end)As for being worse in most respects, chesscom is a technical embarrassment and on top of that is constantly trying to fleece its users, show them unsightly ads, make them pay for basic features and the like. If you really love having a text-to-speech coach telling you your exchange sac was brilliant, then I guess we'd have to give the edge to chesscom
>>547927170>Firstly, uscf and fide ratings are themselves fairly similar at club to low master ratingsWhy the fuck is everyone in this genny so fucking misinformed? Did none of you morons notice when FIDE raised the rating floor from 1000 to 1400 and gave everyone below 2000 up to several hundred points of extra elo?

>>547930391First American world champion LETS GOOO
>>547930121anyone who thinks the che$$com rating means anything is a moron anyway why bother
>>547930121>several hundred points of extra elonta but the bonus was 0.4*(2000-rating) so it's only several hundred at very low levels, a 1900 got 40, 1800 got 80, 1700 got 120 and so on, considering before that uscf was 100 points inflated it's absolutely fair to say they are similar at club ratingswhy you would react so aggressively?do you like to tell yourself your 1600 uscf makes you a FIDE expert or some shit like that?
>>547930121According to the chessgoals rating comparison, uscf and fide still line up pretty well, although I hadn't heard about the 1400 rating floor since I'm not involved with irl chess and researched the rating stuff years ago. Everything is all out of whack below 1700 now with fide and uscf, above that they're reasonably closeI'd still be surprised to see someone deny that lichess ratings are almost always significantly higher than otb ratings, whereas chesscom makes an attempt not to give such high ratings below 2k>>547932552It is obviously meaningful. It's not "real elo" and can't replace otb chess experience, but there's obviously a strong correlation between online blitz and rapid ratings and classical strength. That's just obvious and has been empirically demonstrated, as well.

>>547914376Lichess is exponentially better. There really is no comparison. The fact that chess.com exists as a paywall website when lichess is completely free is hilarious. Lichess has unlimited tactics completely free but scam.com makes you pay for a membership if you want to solve more than 3 a day. You can analyze as many games on lichess as you want but scam.com only allows 1 per day unless you pay for a subscription.Lichess has a very intuitive UI whereas chess.com is what a website would look like if it had a tumor. Chess.com tries so hard to appeal to normies and it is just as cancerous for our game as Gothamchess and chess commentators that try to do live analysis as if they were professional wrestling announcers.

>>547957958He'll be back in the top. He just needs to gain a few lbs first, to have the energy
>>547948910Lichess uses the puzzle challenge modes to increase play count on their newly generated puzzles. These modes give you a majority of brand new puzzles with less than 1000 plays on them on purpose. Lichess devs refuse to change this and if anything have increased the percentage in the last two years. They don't seem to care that including puzzles with unstable ratings in challenge modes designed around a difficulty progression defeats the entire design of the mode.
>>547948910It definitely feels different. Some puzzles definitely feel like they "require" more calculation than they should. I wouldn't say ruined though, in my experience it's not too frequent. Also I've never scored higher than 34 so take that into consideration.
>>547960319Happy Thanksgiving, anon. My two cats and I shall feast alongside you.

Drawing arrows in online games is a soft form of cheating in my eyes. It's hard to believe that both of the major sites think nothing of it and offer it by default.
Another benefit of lichess is that it mindbreaks schizos. The melties it produces are always good for a laugh.

also, forgot to mention some of my other griefs with licheats- misclicks are way more common. don’t know why. a misclick decides 1 in 5 of my games- I have never had an account longer than 30 minutes before being muted. I don’t even say anything egregious, just something like “miraculous” and I get a warning in my inbox going ATTENTION CITIZEN: LICHESS IS INTENDED TO BE A SAFE SPACE as they mute me anyway, not sure why they even bother with the message- I already alluded to this but the amount of thirdies and Indians is obscene. licheats is THE chess site for India, they fucking love it. look at the average opponent’s account and they’ll be part of at least 30 Indian chess teams. live broadcasts are full of Indians unironically asking how they can “join” the professional tournament, or spamming “Anyone else here Indian?” and then you have the obligatory Messi vs Ronaldo arguments in Spanish and so on.- it’s still too much like being in a dank dungeon, completely sovlless site. part of the reason everyone is cheating is because they subconsciously feel like they’re in a prison and get their shivs out. it’s depressingly bland. and the board and pieces are still shit and will never be improved upon no matter how much money reddit donates- the DING! at the start of every game is maddening- the board still sounds terrible as well, it’s a very ear-piercing THWACK so you always have to turn it way down - the Follow button is ingeniously right next to the Block button. enjoy accidentally following the person you meant to block, and your profile saying you followed them even after you unfollowed and blocked them. humiliation ritual

Kramnik save us from cheaters
>>548031676ways I, a genius, would improve licheats besides cheat detection- introduce the same “ambient mode” that Youtube has to give the surroundings a little more color - completely rehaul the board and pieces options, I’ve seen extensions that mog both com and cheats- pfps and Friends function - both sides in a game have cams on by default. not only would this make for a livelier game but also could help curb cheating. there will be a separate pool for ppl with no cams that will be ghettoized and shameful- spectators will have the option to mic into a “space” like on X rather than using chat

As soon as I saw how much of their lives people were spending on it I knew I would only play long enough to reach a certain milestone of above average competency, and then focus on school and my career. I didn’t know yet what it would be, I just knew the day would come. Like really think about how that guy has taken a full 107 days off his life, essentially. You could argue that it’s time he spent enjoyably but let’s be real, you’re never thinking “wow I’m playing chess and enjoying myself”, it’s just a timesuck. Like at least video games, which I feel the same way about, can be communal, or will give you a simulacrum of life. Chess is just you sitting in a room staring at the same exact chess board, forever. Even as little I played to achieve my goal still gives me an existential crisis.
>>548322759What was the milestone? You sound like an embittered n00b
>548322759>Like at least video games can be communal, or will give you a simulacrum of life. Chess is just you sitting in a room staring at the same exact chess board, forever.low quality bait
>>548323447I’m not bitter and don’t regret the time I spent on chess, I should have clarified that. It was fun learning the history and becoming so strong when everyone has a board in their house and equates chess with intelligence. I’ve impressed people with the fact that I’m a “secret grandmaster” more than once, and now it’s a known fact and has been a social boon. It’s never worthless to have skills like that in your repetoire. And I will always feel like I’m part of the chess community and will keep up with it for the rest of my life. It’s just good to know when to stop as an amateur, in my opinion. It’s true that like >>548257921 said, most people aren’t doing anything with their life anyway, but if you do intend to have a life, you should only play long enough to reach a milestone. That doesn’t mean you have to leave the chess community, it just means you stop playing yourself. To answer your question, which was only asked because you’re nervous that I’m right, not because you think I’m low rated, I was almost certainly higher rated than you ever will be or ever could be when I quit. I thought about stopping after 2000 com blitz but struggled with breaking my addiction and continued up to a peak of 2200. Then one day I suddenly had the ability to just stop. Something inside me said that’ll do pig and I knew I was done. That was like over a year ago now and every day I’m grateful to myself I made that decision. I’ve grown as a person and done a lot.

>>548327501The issue is that for a lot of people (and especially me) chess is addictive and it’s not possible to just play a few games and then do other things, you get sucked into an autistic flowstate and only stop to sleep. Also, if you’re not playing/studying often enough you’ll lose your edge. I’m a competitive person so I don’t like to half ass competitive games. Either I’m in it to win it or I’m out.

>>548329690It’s applicable to professionals in the same way that Magnus always says he doesn’t consider himself a genius, just someone who spent too much time on a game. Yes, they’ve made a career out of it and have a legacy, but there’s something spiritually anemic about a life spent mastering chess. That’s the sense Morphy meant it in and is the reason he quit to pursue law (many such cases). There’s also the sense in which it applies to amateurs, which is that you’re not even going to get a career or legacy out of it and there are a trillion more productive ways to spend your time.
>>548330549>there are a trillion more productive ways to spend your time.you don't need every single nanosecond of your life to be maximum productivityjust because you shouldn't spend all your time on chess doesn't mean you shouldn't spend any time on chess

I don't play any opening with the word "indian" because indians are dumb and stinky
>>548355062that's a good practice, the KID sucks and isn't viable at any level, and the queen's indian is even weaker.
>>548338997I used to, but if you play a common-5 opening, the opponent is 700 ELO but they regurgitate a vomit of the first 10 moves a computer created at 3300 ELO level before you get to actually start having the opponent play even one 700 ELO move. That is both not fun, not interesting, nor competitively benefiting yourself. So instead I play a flexible uncommon opening like hippo and my winrate immediately jumped from 50% to 80% as my opponents immediately lose 100% of their youtuber engine prep and are instead forced to demonstrate their actual endgame technique (which they never learned as not even one video from a cocksucker like gothamchess will actually teach them how to be good in endgames)

Chess is really saddening in the sense that it made me realize that a lot of people are more intelligent than me and yet they cannot understand basic bitch logic like that a man cannot become a woman or that a woman cannot have sex with another woman. It made me realize that people want to be dumb, they are able to be intelligent if they want to like when they are partaking in a useless, consequence-less game of chess. It's like that chapter of berserk where Guts find his adoptive father being kind and affectionate to his dog, thus that means he was never kind to Guts on purpose, it wasn't a limitation.

Maia can actually be pretty good for training specific chess positions. In this position I played e5 and eventually drew the game. Stockfish said that e5 is a blunder leading to a draw, and there are multiple winning moves but Bxe4 being the simplest. So I thought ok, I should be able to win this against Stockfish and remember why it wins so I don't blunder next time. Against Stockfish I won easily as it made nonsense moves since it considered it a completely lost position anyway. So I decided to install and try Maia 2200 and... I fucking lost. if anyone above 2700 wins the candidates we'll have a new world champion.how does that make you feel?
Fabiano or Hikaru = long time coming and worthy world champions who resume the true line that hiccuped with Ding and Pookesh. it will always be an embarrassing episode in chess history that the lineage was broken and devalued that way, but all we can do now is do betterSindarov = continues the indignity of fake world champions, but may prove to be a real world champion in the end. it depends on how much he's really improved. as much as I like him, I wasn't impressed with his performance in the world cup, which didn't even have a lot of top players. he scraped by with a lot of close tie breaks. I'd pick him in a match over Pookesh but he'd still have a lot to prove once he's world champ. the good news is that all the young players still have a lot to prove, clearly none of them are the next Garry or Magnus. whoever reigns next will be B tier regardless, so why not Sindarov. but he's still far away even from being a B tier championif it's anyone else = discontinue the current world championship and start a new lineage with the upcoming *googles* Total Chess World Championship tour. just make it the official world championship

>>548506486>S-SOURCE????? in the modern world of podcasts that each last several hours, and considering the amount of media Magnus does in general, this is not a reasonable ask. but if you really want to find out, you can figure it out yourself, because he’s said it numerous times. you just haven’t been paying attentionFabi “came closest” when he peaked and played him in the world championship, yes. but his peak was brief and he’s only been good at one time control. overall Hikaru has been Magnus’s only real rival. he’s as good as Fabi OTB as well as Magnus online
>>548506808I can guarantee that quote is in the context of speed chess only, feel free to click on the source ai gave, post it here and prove me wrongyou got into chess in the last couple years and it shows so much, before his 2023 surge nobody would have ranked hikaru even top 5 in his generation, he had one insane year and he's been basically rating sitting since, fabi overtook him multiple times since then, had went rating sitting mode at those points would that make him a better player than his current self?Obviously not
>>548501954It's logical to trade pieces when you're up material in principle but don't just mindlessly force/try to force trades disregarding your position. The reflex to take every trade when in a better position has cost me many points. What I'm saying is that you can't auto-pilot into a win based on general principles. This might be vague advice and hard for a beginner to execute in practice since you don't yet have the experience to know what is and isn't real counterplay but it's important to keep in mind. Some examples for when you're up material: don't trade queens at all cost, evaluate passed pawns very carefully when trading down, opposite colored bishops are dangerously drawish so be careful if you wanna be left with only them, etc.
>>548506808>using ai overview as your source
>>548507382no, the question was not only in the context of speed chess, you applied that yourself because you’re a disengenuous retard who can’t accept being wrong when you immediately smacked with what you asked for, thinking you wouldn’t. neither is it the only time he’s said it. you lost and are wrong, seethe about it forever. intelligent people don’t make the world a zero sum game about being right and wrong btw, sorry to detuct from your izzat

can't be fucked to write a proper post but these boomer dickriders are embarrassingJobi and Shitkaru had their chance many times in multiple Candidates and they blew all of them, they're no more worthy than any of the othersin a way they're less worthy because of thatit's time for a fresh face to shine
>>548506773regarding puzzles it's important to do them properly not just guessing one move at the time, a boomer would tell you to write the variations out to the end that may be overkill but you should do that in your headt, it's very easy with online puzzles to just go "ok this check is obviously the first move,I'll see where he move his king and then calculate from there" and other such laziness but you aren't training calculation if you do that
>>548505349Why didn’t he win the world championship (or any tournament) after Magnus said "fuck it" then?
>>548507643you know this little thing gives you the page ai got it from right?you can post that here instead of expecting us to take you at your word, I would have done that in the first place instead of posting ai like a clown, that fact that you have yet to do even after I specifically told you to makes it really seems like you don't want to because I'm right and it is about speed chess
>>548507643Ok I looked it up becuase I knew you never would provide source, the question was literally "Do you consider hikaru your main rival in ONLINE CHESS" which makes this post hilarious projection and unbelievable lack of self awareness, disingenuous retard https://youtu.be/4kjFCoSkQ70?si=ec-GpUYjLENlYefs&t=250
>>548506773> Could you expand on what you mean by learning to be solid? As in playing in a way that builds up a good position and not blundering instead of going for the kill right away or what?Yes exactly, just playing positionally/solidly rather than tactically/sharply. That doesn’t mean be passive, always try to play the best move, just focus on good chess fundamentals, connecting your pieces, protecting your king, stable pawn structure, and press your opponent without too much risk to yourself. The reason is because they will always blunder. Always. Blunders are how the game is decided at every level. The stronger you get, the more complicated that becomes, but as a beginner, all you need to do is play sensibly and carefully and your opponent will start handing you pieces. Basically, if you find yourself deciding between a move that seems good but opens up the game in an unstable way and puts you at risk, and a move that also seems good but is more quiet, choose the latter. Just wait. The blunders will come.
>>548508372you’re having a spergout because you’re an idiot and you know it, and don’t like being faced with the fact. I didn’t link nor even look at the link for the video because it’s irrelevant, as I already said, that is not the only time he’s said Hikaru is his only rival. I did not conveniently clip all the other times in anticipation of a retard demanding a source for something everybody else already knows and can figure out purely with common sense and having a brain.

>>548508372by the way, just watched it for the first time, that’s not even how he answered it. his answer about online chess is always that he’s only top 3, he doesn’t even consider himself the best. he’s always said Hikaru is probably the best, then him then Firouzja. his answer to that question was in general
>>548508756i mean he's right that noobs should learn how to play solidly and that his opponents are basically guaranteed to blunder but yeah personally i'd advise noobs to definitely also play attacking chessattacking can lower winrate in the short term in comparison to solidity but it is immensely instructive and helps give you good feel for the game plus it's more fun
>>548509239no, I am not doing what you did. I said something everyone knows, you tried to be a contrarian and got proven wrong and have been pivoting and crying ever since. it doesn’t even need a source, that’s what you’re not getting. it just takes a brain.Hikaru is as good as Fabi OTB. he’s as good as Magnus online.Fabi peaked briefly OTB and has since fallen off. he is completely irrelevant online.these are not equal players. Hikaru is the better player and everyone knows it. he is also objectively #2 in the world even as we speak. just shut the fuck up and get over it
>>548509294>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the question was about online chess specifically but trust me for no reason his reply wasn't about online chess, you have to belive please bro I need this! This is so unbelivably pathetic, have you ever admitted being wrong in your life?if so when was the last time?I bet you can't even rememberLast (You) I give you, I have better things to do
the fabi vs hikaru argument is pointless - this will be answered soon by which one of them gets to be world champ
>>548509813correct. he would not say he “has no rivals” in online chess. this is yet another thing you don’t know that everyone else does.
>consensus #2 >everyone but you knows this>everybody else already knows>said something everyone knows> and everyone knows it. >you don’t know that everyone else does. The power of propaganda on full display have the media say something factually wrong a bunch of times, idiots will start parroting it to each other and eventually any time a non-idiot tries to tell them the truth they will react with idiotic rage like this. It's harmless on something like chess but it really shows how effective media manipulation is and how npcs become willing tools for it so easily, legit sad to see
Regular reminder to do your cardio, chessbros. Good cardiovascular health is essential for maintaining proper brain function. As for me, I'll go for a run and then hopefully obliterate some South Asian gentlemen on lichess.org.
>>548508431It's hard for a beginner to tell what's solid and what's passive tho. Give a beginner the black pieces in the QGD, tell him to play solid and he'll get strangled to death nine times out of ten.

>>548526693"solid" isn't a chess expression, tardboy. It's just a basic word in the English language. It means firm, stable, compact, reliable. The average shitty /vg/ player and twitch streamer doesn't know how to play solid because they never learned anything other than "copy youtubers openings and try to juggle piecees at random hoping to somehow get checkmate" - this is why they lose constantly. They'll Already have an invincible fortress line of double-defended pawns all protecting each other, and the fucking /vg/brains will have no ideas, so push a pawn at random "gotta do something" and hang a pawn, then push anothere pawn and hang a pawn, then get checked and run the wrong direction and hang a 3rd pawn.Playing solid is just going 'what pieces of mine are undefended - okay here I defended them all'. 'How can he try to invade my pawn structure, okay here I cut off the only entrance' 'I'm up 3 points already, I'm not a dumbfuck who will push my pawns and go for a sharp position and get forked - I'll simply force the opponent to trade off his queen and trade off his bishops and trade off his rooks and trade off his knight, now he's still 3 points down but with zero weapons to ever make a comeback'You're not mikhail tal. You and the average shitter simply refuse to study endgames and pawn structures (unlike the actual mikhail tal), but crazy wacking kamikaze attacks are like jingling keys in front of your face - so you refuse to play classical chess and just queue 3-0 or 1-0 bullet because that's the only possible place someone can occasionally win by retardedly throwing pieces across the board every game hoping for a free hanging piece or lucky unforced checkmate. After a year or two of the eternal 600 elo twitch streaming of never improving because you play speedchess, you'll spend a few minutes trying to do puzzles or buy a shitty chessable course, then give up the next day because it doesn't give you the dopamine rush of shitty speedchess.

>>548535536sounds boring and unambitiousrather than playing "solid" you should always be looking to push your advantage in whatever way you can - and yes, when you're playing shitters, this will often result in some sort of tactical attackclearly you shouldn't play retarded attacks that don't work for no reason, but I would argue even some of those are more beneficial long term than constantly playing passive, safe, unambitious games where you actively avoid tactical confrontations. chess is 99% tactics after all :^)

>>548572382Black has zero moves where his king doesn't die, so black loses the game. 0% draw rate. It's really quite simple. That's how chess was before they changed the stalemate rule to create the artificial draw.
>>548572614So would you be allowed to make illegal moves at any point in the game or just in a king and pawn endgame?
>>548572431literally a skill issue. Bad players need the artificial stalemate rule because otherwise whoever is the stronger player would always win the game.I play variants with stalemate rule removed, and someone can have thousands of wins with 0 draws. It filters out people who suck like you.
>>548572784just as in shogi or duck chess, there's no downside at all to allowing the king to be captured. There's no removal of hard-pins because if a bishop pins a piece to the king and you move the piece, the bishop takes your king anyway. All it does is instantly removes the 50% draw nature of current trash chess.

>>548572274honestly, I don't disagree. That is one reason I also enjoy Thai Makruk, one of the closest living relatives to shatranj and chaturanga. It has a rich endgame theory, since you not only have to checkmate with three ferzes or silver-ferz, or silver-knight; but you also have more strict material-dependent counting rules instead of an overall 50-move rule.A bishops-only improvement of shatranj (no castling, bare-king win, stalemate win) would also be interesting. Can you play it anywhere online?
>>548573828that's what you'd imagine if you've never actually thought about it or acquired any evidence at all, but when you actually do the research it's the exact opposite.Chess winrates are often many wins as white, a big chunk of draws, then not many wins as black. In a king-capture variant (such as duck chess), that big chunk of draws as black become wins as black instead (the whole strategy of trying to win as white and trying to draw as black disappears)
>>548573984I may see if I can program the variant on pychess, I know they regularly add new variants with experimental rulesets from players.

>>548573492>>548573750Sorry I meant 250+
>>548575719Don't you think having a duck on the board might also have an influence on the amount of draws? These numbers are meaningless.
>>548576090It literally doesn't. The duck would increase the draw-rate actually, as it makes staying alive and defending easier. It's the king having to walk into its death when chased against the wall that is why game's don't end in draws.
>>548576395Shut the fuck up you shitter, you're literally u1500.SITDOWN
>>548576395duck chess is a different variant than king capture. you need data specific to the variant you're trying to argue about. small differences in rules have a bigger impact than you assume.
>>548576090And it's not even theoretical. The chess tablebases of draws almost all become forced checkmate in regular chess when king capture is allowed. >95% of draws would disappear. The only draws remaining are due to repetition and infinite-checks, but the repetition draw rate plummets when stalemate is gone as a king cannot alone block promotion by shoving his own face against the wall and denying himself a movement. The side with the extra material thus almost always chooses not to allow repeating moves.Infinite checks with a queen is only advantageous to the side with lower ELO than the other, so with king-capture allowed the player with higher rating and higher skill instead just chooses to block checks, trade queens and outplay opponent into the endgame. The rooks and bishops and knights basically never force infinite-checks. Currently, someone like Magnus generally needs to avoid queen trades early because that increases the odds of a stalemate draw. With king-capture, he'd be happy to trade queens on move 3, as there's no stalemates so he'd manage to win the game even without the queen.
>>548577279Nah, I really don't. But I understand you're too stupid to understand something that simple, so you can be quiet now.

The only draws remaining are due to repetition and infinite-checks, but the repetition draw rate plummets when stalemate is gone as a king cannot alone block promotion by shoving his own face against the wall and denying himself a movement. The side with the extra material thus almost always chooses not to allow repeating moves.you have no supporting data for these claims>Infinite checks with a queen is only advantageous to the side with lower ELO than the other, so with king-capture allowed the player with higher rating and higher skill instead just chooses to block checks, trade queens and outplay opponent into the endgame. The rooks and bishops and knights basically never force infinite-checks. Currently, someone like Magnus generally needs to avoid queen trades early because that increases the odds of a stalemate draw. With king-capture, he'd be happy to trade queens on move 3, as there's no stalemates so he'd manage to win the game even without the queen.all of this is assumption
Where to learn chess960 openings?
The thing is about stalemate is that it's only really annoying when you're like 900 and have terrible board vision and do it on accident. Once you aren't a beginner, it's just another part of the game t
>>548579742Up my ass
>>548565487Yes, I'm sure you play chess at GM level where there are lots of draws. They are very rare below 2200 elo.
It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who hates the stalemate rule. It's a general principle of gaming that when your situation is so bad that you don't have any options, you just lose. Like, if you're a wrestler pinned to the mat and you can't move, it's over. But with chess, a game of K vs K + Q can somehow possibly end in a draw. Completely stupid.
>wrestling = gaming
>>548588940chess is an esport now. Run along gachafag
>>548591431Aren’t they adding esports to the Olympics? Maybe chess will finally get included but not as a sport
>>548577337there are ways around repetition draws as well. Repetition in shogi is a no-result, where you replay the game on the remaining time. Fourth repetition in Chinese chess is instead an illegal move, though like chess you can have insufficient material draws.
>>548508756Someone tell Magnus>>548541617You’re either a retard or an Indian, you don’t get better at chess with “gambits” and making the game double-edged, there is no inherent benefit to that, you just prefer to play like that because you’re a low attention span dopamine chasing monkey. You don’t even understand how to play tactically to begin with, it’s not something that happens in a vacuum and in contrast to playing positionally. As Fischer said, “Tactics flow from a superior position.” You want to play tactically like you’re describing? Better get comfortable learning how to play positionally first. Otherwise you’re just a monkey flinging fistfuls of shit. You’re not high rated either, kill yourself weirdo.

>>548596631>MagnusHe used to play combinational chess and crazy shit. I think he even got surprised when the bot from Play Magnus came out because he said " No way I played like that when I was young" but it was true, he used to play attacking chess and later he develops his now known boa constrictor playstyle. Even Capablanca and many others agree, that's the reason tactics are important. Karpov, Petrosian, Magnus, Ulf Andersson,etc... all of them are monsters at tactics and combinations, that's how you become proficient at positional chess later, you can become a prophylactic player as you now calculate more and shit.
Your tactics rating on lichess or chess tempo is literally all that matters
Is Fischer - Taimanov game 4 the greatest endgame of all time?
>>548596631how can such a weak player be so full of himself?my FIDE is higher than your fucking lichess rating sit down and shut the fuck up you subhuman retard, you have no idea what you are talking aboutenjoy being sub 2000 lichess for life
>>548606645Thanks for confirming larping jeet, never try to give “advice” in this general again
>>548578236ye
>>548605993You’re confusing what I said with “never play tactically or press for an advantage, just be prophylactic”. That’s not how chess works, and not what I said. Here’s an exact quote:>That doesn’t mean be passive, always try to play the best move… and press your opponent without too much risk to yourself. This is also how Magnus plays. Yes, Magnus has also had some uncharacteristically tactical games. The exceptions prove the rule. Regardless, this isn’t about Magnus. My advice was for a beginner. Obviously Magnus will be playing on more levels. And my advice was completely sound and correct. There’s no reason to overextend yourself for an attack as a beginner, like many do. Just play soundly, focus on good fundamentals, make sure you’re not hanging anything/compromising your position, and wait for your opponent to make the mistakes you won’t. That doesn’t mean just make random uncomplicated moves. That doesn’t mean just sit there. It specifically means don’t overdo it. Still keep an eye out for the best moves. Yes, play tactics, that’s how any chess game is won. If you aren’t punishing someone tactically, you won’t win. But you can do that without creating an Indian shitfest on the board at great risk to yourself. As I already quoted, tactics flow from a superior position. That does not mean from an Indian’s anus. That does not mean from the exhaustless reservoir of your bottomless aura. It means from a safe and sound and superior position, which you achieved by not taking unnecessary risks. This is how you play as a beginner, if you disagree you’re wrong and need to get over it.
I would make a New but the OP jealously guards it with his life and will thread split if I bother. Wake up retard
>>548611109>>548612302You pathetic subhuman you are 1700 lichess you know fucking nothing about chess, I know 10yo kids who could adopt you, how can you so confidently talk about shit you don't understand? You unironically think, you know better than capablanca it's unbelievable one needs to learn attacking chess first to truly learn the value of piece activity, dynamics and proper calculation doesn't mean you have to play gambits and speculative sacs for life but you need to be able to do it first only THEN you can actually play solid chess instead of the pathetic parody of it you are doing at fucking joke rating, you can't larp as magnus or fisher if you lack the very basics of the gameanyway you are clearly a very stupid person in general no one smart would talk with such confidence and aggressiveness about something he's so bad at, being terrible at chess forever is the least of your problems, everyone with a 3 digit iq will always look down on you as "that delusional idiot who thinks is so smart" in every context you are inhope you eventually have a moment of self awareness and rightfully kill yourself out of shame, clown
