yeah. im considering making a game with threejs. i've explored the game dev ecosystem roughly 10x more than the average game dev i'd say. i made a prototype with it with multiplayer and it was nice. there's another popular option called babylon.js which i would stay away from not because its bad but if you just take threejs and then combine it with some popular physics library and some popular game input library, you basically have the exact same thing as babylonjs. i used nengi.js for the netcode, specifically nengi 2.0. if you visit their github you only see 1.0. thats because 2.0 is a so-called "unfinished" branch but its actually quite finished in my opinion just missing one unimportant feature. very stable. more importantly insanely scalable. it never took off enough in popularity compared to other js networking libraries but it is more scalable and efficient. i had like 4000 networked entities all moving around at once with 30 real players connected helping me test the game. no lag, everything fine. the physics engine was the bottleneck with all those physics enabled entities.

Anon, it's the fact his is more successful than most indie devs who are solo or even small teams which says a lot. Take a look at some of the solodevs here. How much has the studio Conception Software made in the 10 or whatever years it has been developing the infamous Bokube? What about the studio known as Pastaspace Interactive? Bruteforce? What about Yokcos, been in the game since 2015, 5 games on Steam excluding the demo page, and transitioned to coom game development. Even if we count his Patreon, Biteme's Patreon page rakes in more, albeit he is catching up. And this is just 4chan. Have you seen the majority of his viewerbases games?

Marnix is intelligent and I think he's doing good but decisions like this really make me think he's burning the candle at both ends and not thinking clearly. You should never have mystery games in development that nobody can learn about which are also going to drop in x months.

my network controller has both a kcp transport and a simple web transport, when a client logs in, the multiplex transport (another component) figures out what to use
then for web I had to get a domain for https because otherwise itch wouldnt let me connect

I wanted to warn about a scam going on the v3expo discord some moderator is pming users and offering to give away 1 year of claude code and comet browser to make gamedev easier. They then give you invite link to comet browser which gets them 3 dollars and then they tell you to login with your gmail account, they tell you to login on mobile first to sync your mobile data like gmail, contacts, etc to it. Then this google account will be connected across multiple devices and they will steal your your data.
I tried telling the owner of the discord but he blocked my private messages.

19 and 20 done. 20 was by far the most difficult so far; hundreds of squares, and over double the size of most of the previous templates.
At least the next 5 are a lot more easy and simple.

Chat gpt help me realize I need an alchemy system where each goddess is the result of 12 zodiac signs + 4 weeks of each month + 1 full moon extra week + 4 greek elements + 1 ether element.

And then you could craft an item for each goddess using something like zodiac + week + element.

Basically by calculating and crafting items under something like a 24 hour system per day, you could craft an element for each goddess, which would make her like super happy you used her alchemy combination.

I'm pretty sure it's happening with level design too. Level design requires so much brainpower to imagine layouts and where every single prop and environment thing should go. AI can save thousands of labor hours by just generating believable environments for level designers to follow and recreate.

Im not too smart at this but I assume ot is because everything is loaded in, ie on memory ie the ram on your PC. 60GB sized world while ram is 16GB? I'm no expert but your game is probably gonna crash trying to load it up. You have to do some chunking stuff to handle this, sorta like Minecraft. Having learned plain out JavaScript first I condensed everything into massive files and now have to optimize by organizing every little bit of code into their own files. Just not looking forward to it right now, exercising dogberg and cutting wood kinda killed my Vyvanse high and I can only code while geeking cause it raises my IQ from 115 to 125.
There's not much left but it's just tedious and a little over engineered imo.
Everything works so ripping it apart is not something I'm looking forward to.
I need to do it so I can get back to gamedev cause my game design document is primed and ready to go and following a few YouTube tutorials for a working prototype will be easy enough.
Is Unreal 4 really modular with tons of little files and baubles? I've dabbled with it and it's not bad but I have a feeling I might run into an overwhelming amount of components particularly if I don't approach it the right way and get everything ready beforehand.
I plan to learn as I go but webdev took forever cause of simple mistakes that I got from learning how the framework operated.
Guess I've just got oldskool brain where data is just a jumbled mess instead of NEET frameworks.

I would just script that in engine still. You only have to do it for one page, then make duplicates of the entity with a staggered start on their animation times. Unless it’s an integral part of your game, I wouldn’t want to waste CPU cycles on animating a book with bones, constraints, etc, when its just one simple animation loop.

I kinda wanted to do something like this with my wizard game, as roaming around uncovering ancient lore and forbidden magick spells etc thematically fits what a wizard would do as a matter of course. A card is a nice analog for a spell, and a deck is a nice analog for a spellbook.

Have a nice ff7/m&b style overworld, walk around between towns and dungeons. If you get into a fight with something like people or a monster they have one or two cards, but if it's another wizard you have to go deck for deck.

I have a big obsidian doc full of ideas... It's probably too much scope.
