It's just that I can like something while still holding a critical eye to it. Nikke is just fascinating, it's legit one of the wokest games I've ever played except its market audience is the complete opposite because they chose to go the route of hypersexualized female bodies while simultaneously having a feminist and anti-corporation message. It also helps that the story and lore are great, the characters are pretty cool and the soundtrack is a masterpiece. But yeah Nikke is a contradiction in itself and I'm fascinated. A game with a feminist message, a metaphorical coming out arc for one of its main characters (Marian), several characters displaying behaviour associated with neurodivergence and poc being treated the same as the other Nikkes, a BDSM lesbian couple that's actually plot relevant, the anti-corporation message, Nikkes being arguably a metaphor for transitioning (seriously, all women that didn't used to have their current form and are now being oppressed for the way they now present themselves? That's literally just the life of a trans woman)... And somehow it's also a gacha game KNOWN for its objectification of the female body, even more so than your average gacha. On top of being fascinated by this game itself (it's my current hyperfixation lmao) I'm fascinated by the fact it's one big contradiction within itself, between its content and its genre.
