These little vignettes while cute also serve to highlight the parallels between her past self and her current self. Little things like consideration for others and even trivial matters like her love of pudding showcase indeed that while she may have grown up in many ways (including her tendency to inevitably spiral over minor things), at her core, she has always been the same kind of person.The other aspect I alluded to was how the writers used this card to tie into the grander meta-narrative regarding Amana’s Plove. The way Amana’s closing line of the commu echoes that of her mother’s when she was gushing about Papa Osaki in tandem with the general wishes of younger Amana for her future self is extremely sweet. It reaffirms the fact that at least from Amana’s perspective, SCP is the one for her, considering that by her own admission, she was going to find someone “even more amazing than Papa”. This is made all the more poignant if you consider my observation regarding Amana’s core as a person hasn’t really changed over the years. Additionally, it’s been demonstrated, both in this commu and other mainly support commus that Amana’s parents are extremely affectionate for one another, so the fact that Amana’s perception of her (desired) relationship with SCP seemingly transcends that between her parents nicely compliments her other commus, namely her P-SSRs.

Amana’s affection for SCP has been clearly demonstrated multiple times (think GRAD, LP, P-SSR6, 8, 10-14) and Amana’s narrative has expectedly stagnated since P-SSR12 given the live service nature of gacha games and the general framing of SC’s all-encompassing timeline prevents any progress for any of the Plove idols without an obvious shitstorm ensuing. Precolle offers a great opportunity to recontextualize a lot of the commus that occur subsequently. Something like Fuyu’s precolle is a decent example as it shows the origin of her mindset which I think slots into her larger narrative overall. In Amana’s case, there are multiple aspects to her character shown in her main commus that could have been explored here. I know people have put out their theories relating to Amana’s psychology possibly being related to a sense of isolation driven by her family’s constant need to relocate due to work, so this could have been an avenue for the writers to explore given the opportunity of being able to peer into the idol’s past. I like the commus here as they’re presented but it’s just the opportunity cost of sacrificing something that could have contextualized a lot of things left me a bit disappointed.>TL stuffIronically, the perspective question once again reared its ugly head as I approached these commus, since the flashback nature of precolle cards highlights the inherent disconnect between Amana’s use of her name rather than explicitly speaking in first person all the time when mapping the original text to English. I’ve touched on it in my ramblings when I did the Y/MLL support, but I’ve opted to largely forgo this aspect of her speech when translating her regular speech based on my reading of her personality, and that referring to one’s self in 3rd person is typically behavior expected of a child.

Imagine a man acting like that towards another woman, whom he has no relation with.
