Is it me or does Valour bard have a sort of edge in some cases over Lore bard? Yeah lore bard gets another magical secrets and some skills. But I usually never need that many skills and I can do without the 2 extra magical secrets. I like the shield proficiency. I like the armor proficiency. I like the combat inspiration for a supporting character since I can use it to get a little more damage or extra hit chance for another characterI like the extra attack to use for throwing potions since potions tend to heal way more than spells. I like to use it to throw bombs too when I don't need it to heal or support.

Needless to say, I rushed to play a second playthrough where I recruited her, and I've been in love ever since.One of the best waifus being hidden behind an unintuitive recruitment method, or in this case even the game's evil path, is pretty unique. I'm normally a very completionist player in these games, and even I didn't know about her at first.She has some of the funniest jokes in the game, she's a very strong class, she has one of the better unique companion abilities, she has a compelling story about seeking revenge on Orin, and her romance is super cute where she admits she has mad to murder all of her past partners and so you are special because you are outside Menzoberranzan house politics so she can finally for the first time in her life actually just love someone without murdering them. It's very cute!I love this game, I love this character, and I love this developer. I am anticipating their next masterpiece and will romance all the orc baddies, the lizard princesses, the undead QTs, the imp tomboys, the human ladies and elves that look like Tom Holland.

If I only take 2 levels to get the fighting style and then go into lore, it's delayed until level 8. If starting with Lore, sure, you get it at 6 but you don't get any of the paladin advantages until later and you really don't use Paladin for warden at all. Extra attack is at 11 and aura of protection is at 12. Unfortunately unless you're keeping everyone in the say 10 foot square, aura is only helping the support character. With Paladin 6/Lore 6, you're not even using Paladin to get either counterspell or warden. It's coming entirely from Bard. With any bard you still have the ability to get counterspell and warden of vitality at 10 anyways. So it's either Lore bard with warden at 6. 10 levels of paladin for warden at 9. Or any non-Lore with warden at 10. I really find that I don't really need counterspell that much before level 10 so for me, putting it off until then is not so bad. Plus I like to get the three feats. Even if I don't need the third, I can always just get more dexterity with it which is always nice.
