Either way, ShoPro hasn't worked as closely with GF/Nintendo for that crossover appeal since Pokemon Yellow. For big events like a set of characters who have been around for 26 years retiring, that is worth breeching the wall, but now that's over, none of the anime characters have gotten anything new, and they probably won't. It kind of sucks that we don't get as much of the anime lore in the mass appeal crossover games, but I'll never understand the assumption that fans make that creators hate their characters.

She has changed the most out of the group, and even if anyone could see her incredibly basic ass development from miles away, it just works. Liko's character, on the other hand, feels terribly plain. If not for Terapagos, she would have no reason to exist in the story. Roy's character has surprised me, despite starting as the most battle-centric character of the group, and the only one to consistently train, he kept getting his ass kicked multiple times. Now though, he is the only one who actually wins his gym battles, is consistently getting stronger improving his battle style, and on top of that has Nemona as his senpai. He has a future as a real Pokemon trainer beyond trying to catch Rayquaza.

The last 3 episodes were literally the best Roy has gotten, but mainly due to the fact that he's been sidelined a lot. Dot is still far and away my favorite character in terms of character development and her episodes are consistently some of the best in the series. Strength wise its been a bit more rocky. It doesn't FEEL like Liko and Roy have seen that much progress. Like obviously the idea is that they've gotten stronger but something about it just feels off. I don't want to say that their strength feels unearned but I guess they haven't seen enough battling to make it feel like they improvements aren't kinda rushed. Dot started off a pretty good battle wise, but her loses and unsatisfying victory feel like she's being held back to keep pace with Liko and Roy. Her battle with Larry for example had her get beaten without even taking out a single one of his Pokemon, while Roy was able to beat both of Ryme's. If Liko does better than Dot in her battle then I'm pretty much going to assume Dot's either being set with trainers she can't beat or the show writers are boosting Liko and Roy.

Instead, I'd like to say that I think they've really dropped the ball on the RVT up to this point. Even before the third arc where they were kind of written off so that the kids could do their training arc, the non-Friede cast took a backseat that I didn't care for. In the first 12 episodes, the RVTs didn't really have individual focus episodes, but they worked within the Asagi ecosystem with the shipmons so that they always had some interesting contribution to the episode. The second arc had more filler and focus episodes for some of them, but they also felt extremely shallow. Orio's episode with the Pokeball workshop was probably the best, but Mollie and Murdock felt like tack-ons with their spotlight episodes. Landau's was a gag episode; perfectly funny, but also inconsequential. The one thing that Horizons has that distinguishes it from the Ashnime is the adult half of the cast, and they feel like they're being wasted right now, especially compared to the episodes before the Galar arc.
