What's the current meta celebi deck? This is the list I'm running right now and I'm pretty happy with it. I thought about running mew instead of old exeggutor but old eggs can actually compete with blaine decks and provides a more consistent backup plan if celebi dies after you only put energy on it.

im finally getting the hang of the new meta. I won like 4 games in a row with this, thoughts? Arcanine + gio slaughters electric and grass decks, also does well into mewtwo because mew dies as well. Mew is a great tank and lets me kill any mewtwo. Probably sucks against Gyarados but theres nothing i can do about that.

I'd drop one of the Mews so you're more likely to open with/pokeball into Moltres+Growlithe. Also I'd cut a Leaf for another X-Speed to not conflict with your other supporters since if you're retreating Moltres you probably don't care about keeping the 1 energy on it, and if you X-speed a 3 energy Arcanine out then if you switch it back in you can just put that turn's energy on it.

Say what you will about PLANETA, but their 4-diamond cards look better than their 2-star cards.

Anecdotally I find that a Potion can push a mon just out of KO range. I won't deny that it can make me brick. I've scored some wins off of just getting a non-doubled Celebi into the Active Zone and have it start hitting.

You can easily retreat it with Leaf and it does chip damage if attacked, which can result in opposing pokemon getting in range of whatever you have on your bench ready. It's not as passive as Snorlax, and don't need energy like Kanga.

If you just want to bully celebi decks, I've seen great success with this deck. Ninetales and rapidash can both one shot celebi with blaine and mew is a good meatshield if you need an extra turn to get rapidash set up. This deck also usually gets active a turn sooner than arcanine, which is a big deal as that's one less celebi coinflip you'll have to deal with.

It can do damage for zero energy while you safely set something up. They don't care about you KOing it because then they switch in their win condition for free.
Gyarados EX is the best user of it. If it does 20 damage then Gyarados can one shot stuff like Mewtwo.
If they're playing some aggro deck that wants to attack every turn ASAP then they're going to take a bunch of free damage or be forced to slow down. Both are good for the Chuddigon player.

I genuinely don't know, pretty much everyone I've fought using it hasn't done particularly well. It's slightly easier to retreat than kangaskhan, sure, but it also just tends to sit in front doing nothing. Whenever I see it, I know I'm free to build up win con pokemon with no real rush and will just one shot it once I'm ready or sabrina in their other pokemon and get them that way. It just seems like a worse wall compared the options most decks have. Even normal articuno works better as it only has 1 retreat cost, the same health and will sometimes attack with misty as an added bonus. Druddigon really only works when people don't play around it

He's great, he's a wall that puts opposing pokemon in range of revenge kills, and also shuts Sabrina down if you have two of him on the field.

The main downside is, as you said a free kill. But that tends to happen when your opponent sets up faster than you. It buys you time in the early game, protects your main hitters, does chips damage, has an easy retreat with Leaf, and if Drudd gets KO'd, it's just 1 point. Not bad for all the utility you get.

What I've realized fighting new eggs decks is that old eggs excels early but new eggs can clean up in late game. The one other advantage is that if old eggs is in active but serperior isn't on the bench, new eggs isn't going to hit that hard.

I don't understand the people who hit for whatever amount of damage that doesn't even take out my Pokemon and then when it's my turn to finish them off, THEN they concede. Like instantly. My turn, I don't even get to reat, they concede. They just hit for x damage and then concede.They didn't even get any points from it. There's no total damage dealt counter in your battle records. There's thousands of reasons on why someone might concede after doing a bad play. Not all of them have to be out of spite. For all we know somebody might have been playing on commute and then they got to their destination, so they conceded at that moment. Or maybe they realized too late there wasn't much they could do. We really don't know unless we ask, and at that point it's easier to queue the next match. As long as you win the match, do the points really matter?

No I get conceding in 99% of scenarios. I think it's the proper thing to do myself. In just about every game you concede when you realize there's no way to come back or it's near impossible. What I don't get is when you realize you've lost, you waste your time doing one more attack even though you know the game is over, and then you concede immediately after you've done your attack that achieve nothing. Didn't even get a point from it. It does literally nothing but waste everyone's time including your own.

If your best card is Marowak EX, you sound brand spanking new. The meta decks are seriously the easiest decks to acquire, except maybe Gyarados. Like, just a quick browse, it looks like there is an account available for $20 that can make most decks. I haven't scrutinized it, so don't quote me and don't find it and buy it based off my word, but for $20 you can probably pretty easily get someone offloading their day 1 account that can make most decks in the game. As opposed to giving DeNA/TPC $20 bucks, getting nothing, and then having your mood soured.

meltan is shit and dies to a slight breeze, so it's easier to have it sit on the bench collecting energy while you have something in the active slot stalling for you. In theory, druddigon is the ideal choice for stalling because it's ability will do some damage even without it having any energy. In practice, the extra 20-40 damage you get with it before it dies isn't worth it and you're just giving your opponent a free point. At least with colorless decks there's some potential for it to hit back with fire+water energy, but as soon as you see any energy type that isn't fire/water/lighting, you know it's never going to attack you.

How do you justify this statement? Unless you reroll, that's the only time it makes sense. Most meta decks right now are running an average of 4 EX cards. Sticking to one pack won't help in that scenario, you're not getting the exact 4 EXs you need unless you have insane luck. Only someone who rerolled for most of their deck and then stuck to one pack to finish it off is easily finishing a meta deck as a F2P. For any other F2P its just a matter of RNG, and the rates aren't nearly good enough to build a 4 EX meta deck from scratch. Hell, even 1, 2, and especially 3 diamond cards can cuck you. The only other option is to farm the fuck out of the wonder pick discords.

I wouldn't say the game is F2P unfriendly, its not at all. 2 free packs a day and there are several budget decks that are viable. But no one is shitting out several 4 EX meta decks without either rerolling, buying an account, or just getting really really lucky.

I'd say the only problem is that it can be hard to finish off a deck. Like I have everything I'd want from the Charizard EXCEPT 1 Moltres EX and 1 Machoke. I could keep pulling but that's retarded when there's more I want from other packs. I could use pack points, but those are too valuable to not save until the last minute.
Now what you can actually do is add people to wonder pick from. That takes a bit of effort but is still easily doable f2p.
It's not quite as f2p friendly as like, Master Duel, but it's still not hard to get playable decks over time.

The real question is, how easy will it be to keep up with the meta? If all the current decks become shit when the next pack releases, and they don't give us a ton of free hour glasses, then that'll mean non-whales are left in the dust for a month or so. Maybe trading will fix this but I doubt it.

It's easy to F2P for those of us who were in early but anyone starting late is fucked. Pocket's only been out for 60ish days and the meta has shifted enough that if you haven't been regularly running the dailies and events since start you won't be able to make up enough glass or cards to have a versatile collection to make a functioning deck before the next expansion drops, at which point you're stuck playing catch up. Wrong. I'm f2p and have been playing since about halfway through the Lapras event. I can make every meta deck. You stick to one pack until you have the cards, you target WPs that have the cards you want, and then you switch packs when you have everything. If I can do this - with ease - on 2 different accounts, you can do it on one.

One thing about this game is that it really drip feeds you. These event rewards fucking suck. But also they have multiple events running at a time so it all adds up to a decent amount. And you can barely save up to spend all at once on a new pack. You really don't get a ton of hourglasses to do that with. But your collection grows at a reasonable pace with the daily free packs.

So actually I was wrong. I was thinking about the GA packs where you can pull the Immersives also:

I haven't played many but in my experience they usually drip feed you currency that you can then spend all at once when something you want releases. Pocket doesn't really give you much currency(hourglasses) but instead just gives you 2 packs a day that can't be saved for a future set.
I was expecting this to be supplemented by the solo mode and type outbreak events giving decentish EX pokemon to build around and playable decks, but the current and future ones don't look as good as Lapras EX and Blaine.

The free packs do add up to a good amount, but it is pretty slow going.

I guess progress on F2P is slow compared to being a massive paypig dumping hundreds on gold but I feel like I'm hoarding hourglasses at a fairly decent rate, and I'll have enough shop tickets when the shops refresh jn a few days to basically buy the whole store out immediately for another large tally of hourglasses to add to my pile.

Rarity tiers are the same frequency as GA but each card in that rarity is equally likely and the number of cards of each rarity varies from one set to another.
There's actually 1 less 2-star card in GA-M2 than in GA-Zard and GA-Pika so the offering rates for 2-stars (or any FAs in godpacks) are "better" in GA-M2 than in the rest of GA.

The hourglass number goes up pretty quickly when you save, but it's a lot less impressive when you divide by 12. 70 monthly ticket hourglasses is nice, but it's only enough for 5 packs. Or 2 and a half day's worth. 40 daily mission hourglasses per month is nice too, but that's still only enough for 2 more day's worth.
The vast majority of your resources comes from stamina which cannot be hoarded to make sure you get the newest stuff needed to keep up with the meta.

Oh well, it's still too early to say for sure how this all will shake out in the long-term.

Interesting. I only ever looked at the Mewtwo pack and then I just assumed that the rates were the same for all of them (including, very mistakenly, MI)

This is just TCG, and also it is just gacha. Most units in gacha are shit, most cards in TCG are shit. At least in games like Magic, the shit cards are usually decent Draft deck fodder. No such thing here.

anyone else think full art trainer cards are total bullshit? Ive spent like maaaybe 50 bucks since playing and i only have a misty from a wonder pick. The rates to get one are so atrocious i saw someone get to 2500 pocket points with zero full art leafs.

You're not really supposed to have a tier 1 deck on day 1. This game is so luck-based that you can often get away with running jank. You won't win as consistently, but you won't lose 100% of the time if your jank is funcitonal.

It was in my alt (I swear that one did better pulls with this new set but I never got to open mewtwo packs. I guess I'll open 1 mew and 1 mewtwo pack for the time being there. Only shit I'm lacking now is Gyarados on both accounts.
