I always think it's a fun trope then the unstoppable hero becomes the villain for a bit, going back to the Superhero theme you got Batman who has all his contingencies for the league and especially Superman, mindcontrol is never out of the equation after all. Just finished watching Superman TAS recently actually, the events of Legacy are still fresh in my mind. Funnily enough this also reminds me of Altair/Sirius.

Protags like Red being the villain are just more daunting then most others, especially them being silent and like a walking force of nature (Rocket Edition kinda touched on that perspective too). Lots of potential there if you're not feeling original villains (low hanging fruit and consistent with your choice philosophy so far) and the movie villains.

All just imo, I'm pretty interested in this project already, sounds like a fun concept. Could I ask which other trainers you've landed on for the other regions? I'm curious, unless you wanna keep it a surprise.

This is only tangentially related to romhacks, but fuck it. I remember this old YouTube series, a story told through some romhack kind of AO3-tier soap opera. It started off almost normal, but devolved into Pokémon being an afterthought, with the OCs had superpowers and doing everything themselves. It was all presented using Gen 3 custom sprites and environments, with the dialogue all being text based, maybe some stuff added from Adobe after effects, too.

I remember seeing it in 2007, watching way too much of it, then cringed so hard when they sloppily cut in the audio for "can a machine like you even feel fear?" from DBZ during a 'fight scene'.

The title had something to do with water, the ocean or something similar and the MC had a blue motif.

Can anyone tell me what this thing was called? I know it's a very autistic question to ask, but it seems appropriate given the setting.

You can talk to them in Gen 4, though it defaults to just having them automatically heal your pokemon or a brief blurb about the current situation. Like getting through eterna forest for Cheryl or helping Riley through Iron island. Both Parties Pokemon were automatically healed after every battle and it defaulted to double battles with two separate parties already.

Trainer followers in gen4 would automatically leave your party if you attempted to leave the area without triggering all the scripts. Like going back to the start of eterna forest would get cheryl to wait for you at the entrance and stay there permanently until you actually got to eterna city with her. Then she became a permeant battle tower partner in postgame.

Though both the player and NPC could roll up with their own party of 6, making a combined team of up to 12 if we're talking about the rival helping you battle at spear pillar against the team galactic admins. Most of the trainer followers only had 3 pokemon on them and you couldn't see their entire roster unless they fainted in battle and kept tossing out the next pokemon they had.

I do want Green to be interactable and have several topics to choose from and also be able to ask them to heal your party manually or automatically after every battle which is on by default in the gen 4 games. "Talk, Party, Dismiss, Exit" for the first widget so they can be dismissed and they aren't forced into the party. I wanted to be able to actually edit their party via the PC by treating it like a second player party but controlled by the pre-existing trainer ai.

Tourmaline kinda sucks tho, dropped it in the last few gyms cause the difficulty went crazy and some sidequests just didnt work

Pokemon Z is fun, i know the opalodev games are kinda samey but the story is actually interesting and makes me want to keep playing.

I just wish it was not dexbloat. Really need a good fangame with like halved dex size.

Hm, just now I named mine brendan_front and it shows up fine like in your pic, but changing it back to psyduck_front breaks it again
For experiment's sake I put both psyduck.pal and a copy of it named psyduck_front.pal in trainers/palettes/; referencing psyduck.pal or Psyduck's original palette in the pokemon folder where I copied it from makes it appear as intended, however, referencing psyduck_front.pal instead results in the black Psyduck once again
I don't know what this black magic is but as long as I can avoid it by naming it something else I'm not going dig deeper

Even with Romhacks I just can't get into gen 2 Johto. Polished Crystal is the only that kind of does feel enjoyable, but it's not really an authentic gen 2 experience. Am I playing the wrong ones?

I'm looking into Pokemon Unbound.
Does it change Pokémon Types or anything of the sort?

I grew spoilled with many romhacks giving Arbok Poison/Dark and Nocktown another type other than Normal.

I grew to enjoy changes in Tyes and the Type chart itself.
