Is Actraiser a metroidvania?
>>
no

but Dr. Chaos and Goonies II are
>>
No Patrick, Actraiser is not a Metroidvania.
Actraiser 2 is not a Metroidvania either.
>>
>metroidvania
>Metroid means it has search action elements
>Vania means it's an Action Jarpig
More of just the latter

There are some backtracking elements, as I remember taking stuff from later zones back to older zones. I just don't think of the game that way and more of its own thing as it has action segments and simulation segments. Back then, I think I considered it sort of that god game genre like Populous.
>>
No, it' not a game from the Castlevania series with an exploreable map like Metroid which is the only thing a Metroidvania is or ever will be

No and neither is actraiser 2.
