Im 21 years old, grew up on a lot of different games like fallout, pokemon, tf2, zelda, skyrim etc. I played some sprite games like the above mentioned but for the most part it was 3d stuff on the ps3, wii and 360. Yet for the past 2 years ive been playing more retro games that i missed out on as a kid like earthbound, chrono trigger, pre 7 final fantasy and stuff and i feel such a warmth and coziness playing even though i have no nostalgia for any of this stuff? Like i love going back to older games i played as a kid like fallout 3, pokemon platinum and ocarina of time on the 3ds and i get a good hit of nostalgia but stuff like Earthbound and CT give me such a fuzzy feeling that is just unrivaled like coming home after a long time. on my 2nd eb playthrough and i still feel it, is there just something in the human mind that just feels nice seeing sprite art or something?

It's the atmosphere anon. You might like early Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon too

my day is ruined

i never understood why people said eb has "bad graphics". always thought it was one of the most vibrant, aesthetically pleasing jrpgs on the console

stop being a retarded fucking manchild who can't physically function without "muh nostalgia"
older games are simply better. that's what you're experiencing.

Because dragon quest and early final fantasy flopped in the west

the whole point of the post is that dude is functioning and succeeding without nostalgia
go back to wherever muhposters come from please
>>
>>11412191
the point of the post is that this is the first time OP has ever enjoyed anything without nostalgia and he doesn't know how to process it.

btw OP if you're 21 then i hope you know you grew up in the absolute worst era of video gaems. i hope you know that.

Yikes. Wallowing in absolute misery 24/7 must suck, try meds or a noose

This is what your post becomes after discarding the irrelevant blog topic material:

>Why do older games feel better to play than modern titles?

It's the nebulous concept of "soul"; The decisions devs made will impart their personality, that is what creates the feeling of "soul". The smaller a development team is, the more pronounced the "soul" is. This is also why indie devs are the only modern stuff worth paying attention to.
