Remember when Arino would be the one to play games until dawn?
>Latest sub was almost 3 months agoOwari da...
>>11413046what are you talking about anon? We get subs almost immediately for this entire season. You are watching the new eps right?
>>11412950>The Immortal (MD)>Cotton>Twinkle TaleMy guesses. 2/3 are cute girls too.
It's been a minute since I've sat down to watch an episode. I love how these uploads are formatted as opposed to how it's just the challenges for the Discotek release.Have they ever considered a new release of assorted episodes, or any other company for that matter, or is this series just too niche?I wish Arino would play more Gameboy games. I would make him play Bubble Ghost.
I have searched but can't find any FujiTV One livestream, only the regular FujiTV. >>11413197They have a suggestion box on their site you can use:https://otn.fujitv.co.jp/gamecenter/index.html
>>11413307I hope Arino sees my message and invites me and tells me how cool I am and we can eat candy and play video games together.
>>11413352Oh, then it must have been you he was talking about. Yes, he saw your message and was delighted. We're just allocating some budget and we'll send you a plane ticket to Japan so you can be on the show. Until then, keep healthy, and keep tuned in.
>>11412950I'll guess Magical Pop'n. If they really want to kick Arino's ass, possibly Magician Lord but probably not.
>>11413374>fights with a sword>can cast spells>but so can linkI don't think she's magician enough to be a magician. I'm hoping for The Immortal for some Wizard adventure action.
>>11413374Elemental Master is also a wizard.
>>11413374There's also the issue of witch vs. magician and if they make a differentiation between the two. Magical Chase and Cotton are more seen as witch-games, rather than ones with Magicians. Magicians are male and western styled.
>>11412950Magicoal bros it's our time to shine.
>E-celeb shitFuck off
>>11413473Anything Japanese gets a free pass
>>11413057AI crap doesn't count.
>>11413374I don't think they'll ever have Magical Pop'n nowadays.
>>11413608Is that because of how much it costs lately? They could just borrow it for the episode, and it would definitely not be the giveaway gift at the end.>>11413421That's a good point. I guess the chance of it being a game with a male magician is higher.
>>11413473>>11413505FujiTV One is not an internet site. >Fuji Television also operates three premium television stations, known as "Fuji Television One" ("Fuji Television 739"—sports/variety, including all Tokyo Yakult Swallows home games), "Fuji Television Two" ("Fuji Television 721"—drama/anime, including all Saitama Seibu Lions home games), and "Fuji Television Next" ("Fuji Television CSHD"—live premium shows) (a.k.a. "Fuji Television OneTwoNext"), all available in high-definition.
>>11413687>>11413608Pop'n is hard, and way harder than most of the Castlevania games they've challenged despite it's cutesy graphics.
>>11413687>Is that because of how much it costs lately? They could just borrow it for the episode, and it would definitely not be the giveaway gift at the end. That's exactly what I was thinking of. Add an Arino signiture on top of that, and you've got something you could sell for at least $7,000. Basically just giving some lucky audience member money. I agree that this one couldn't be a giveaway gift.
>>11413714>>11413687They've already discussed how they handle ultra-rare games. Super Potato will give them the game on loan which they then have to return, and they don't hand out a signed copy of said game. The typical game they give away is like 5-50 USD so it's like whatever for the show's budget, not a game that's worth like 1500 USD.
>>11413716That's pretty interesting. I didn't know that.
>>11412950>>11413421It might be Solomon no Kagi 2, aka Fire'n Ice.
>>11413908yes, that too.
>>11413908Yes, male magician character.
>>11413908>>11414918If we think it's only a male magician and not a witch:>The Immortal (MD)>Solomon's Key 2 (FC)>Elemental Master (MD)>Magicoal (PCE CD)
The Armored Core episode should have confirmed to any of the doubters that the show is not faked, and it really is Arino playing these games because he was just dreadful at it and the ADs had to hand-hold him the entire way. Plus he struggled mightily with the control scheme of the game. If the series was faked, why make episodes where Arino bombs so badly?
>>11415093People say it's faked? I thought the whole point was to make Arino look incompetent and frustrated at every moment (endearingly), a lot of the game choices seem pretty apt and the only times where he does well is when the game in question is on the easier side or he gets tons of assistance.
>>11415156Some people misread the "script writer" credits to mean that the show is entire staged and scripted. Meanwhile the show makes no effort to hide Kibe or what he does in the show, and since most of the show is actually narration or mini-corners, they need a lot of script writing on top of Arino's improvisation. Arino's playstyle is too predictable and he struggles with the exact same games now as he did when the show started.
>>11415168Yeah wtf, all shows have script writers regardless of improvisation or "live" format, usually for more mundane things, even if most of a show is improvised.Arino's just stubborn but at his age it's understandable, I tend to be the same even though I tend to invest more time in a game and adapt with patience and practice, but his sessions last a day or two per game, or more depending on length and how much time he's allowed. It's obvious from the more iconic episodes that the best games are the ones that are brutally difficult or extremely obtuse that makes him seem like a complete moron or extremely unlucky.
>Game Center CX #345 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game [LocationScouts]it's (turtle) time
>>11413473Arino by all means isn't "e-"
>>11415293It's like they're waiting for us to publicly complain about lack of subs for them to release something
>>11412909I've never watched this series but I've always been curious.Should I start at the first episode? Or it it better to find an episode about a game I like? (For an initial impression, if I like it I'll watch them all).
>>11415293We’re so fucking back
>>11415346You can literally go in any order. I would recommend watching an episodes with a game you like or find interesting, or take a look at the selection they picked for the Discotek box set since those episodes are regarded as fan favorites.Feel free to watch the rips uploaded online since the Discotek versions of those episodes are just the game challanges and dont include any of the other episode portions.Going in order isn't necessary, but you tend to appreciate aspects of how far the show has come along with minor inside jokes, but a lot of the humor is on Arino playing old ass video games and shit fluctuates from him getting cocky to falling into complete despair.
>>11415346First season is an interview format show that throws people off until they retooled it to be "Arino's Challenge" plus mini-corners. For many, many, seasons afterwards the only rips are these god awful low resolution .avi shit (some of them literally .240p resolution rips from Japanese sites), which makes it hard to watch considering how blurry it was. The show was mostly 4:3 at 640x480 resolution, basically DVD tier for many years. At the time file size was an issue so they compressed video files down heavily. Now we actually worry about file quality and have way better compression algorithms now. last like 8 years of the show is pretty easy to find in much better 720p resolution.
>>11415346The show is typically formatted into three parts:>Arino's Challenge>Tamage>Mini-CornersThose are not translations, but the terminology the show uses. Tamage means trips, where they visit Game Centers (local arcades or stores). It is a variety show focused on retro games, and too many people mistakenly think it's a Let's Play series akin to a youtube show. Arino's Challenge is only 1/3 of the screen time, and much of it is elsewhere. They're as focused on celebrating and examining the history of retro games as anything else. The show has introduced me to many games that I've never heard about which often make the most interesting episodes. Often pure jank games or games that are obtuse or needlessly difficult are fun challenges. However, more polished action-adventure titles of the 3D era tend to be less interesting as they're more experiences than proper challenges. The show for its faults has a Japanese retro view on retro gaming with an overly strong focus on the Famicom and Super Famicom, to the exclusion on other consoles. They've tried to balance this in recent years with more focus on Sega consoles and the PC Engine.
>>11413424That might be fun if they go full AD co-op mode.
does anybody know what episode Arino interviewed Satoshi Tajiri in? I'm just curious as a fan of Mendel Palace a.k.a. Quinty
>>11413473Arino is royalty, you are an irrelevant. faggot.
>>11416662>Ctrl+F Tajiri on episode listIt was the special after Season 1.
Top 5 withlist for this series:1. Hagane2. Adventure of Little Ralph3. Twinkle Tale4. Magical Pop'n5. Assault Suits Valken
I don't want to ruin your enjoyment of it so if you want to keep seeing it the same way stop reading hereButThe thing isGame center cx is as real as wrestling too, nowadays they're more careful and have scenarios made specifically to show the game on tv in timing with the current video, but it's all prerecorded footage from pro gamers that arino is commenting over. I stopped watching ages ago and the English releases were kind of dotty but you can see things like >the pro players trying really hard to lose on purpose in scrap brain zone in the sonic 1 episode>theres no reflection of the tv on his shades in the bonanza bros episode ( later, in the dragon quest episode they pretend it's because he has the brightness on minimum, and show the title screen )>still in the bonanza bros episode you can see extremely clearly that the mega drive isnt turned on as its power led never lights up I've seen someone make a thread of these on Twitter some years ago too, nowadays arino works for Nintendo so the whole staff has to be extra careful to keep the illusion. It's silly but he's a massively important marketing tool.So many older people I know in Japan bought a 2ds and the Pokemon red and green virtual console releases just because of his playthrough YouTube series.they don't address issues directly, they just kind of show a retcon later when there's backlash, like the case with dragon quest and bonanza bros.
>>11417774No.
>>11417774>pro gamersBut he sucks? And he plays exactly the same in real life appearances like at budokan?
>>11417774Most of the show is a fabrication. The Street Fighter 2 episode footage is full of continuity errors. In the Fatal Fury Special episode Arino, after sucking at the game for 10 hours he magically learns a timing based (not mashable) combo that allows him to beat the secret boss.In Tokimeki Memorial he gets the best ending on his first attempt. It has been documented that playing well isnt enough, there are a lot of hidden "random" events you need to discover and resolve in a specific way to get that ending, something thats impossible for a first playthrough.I'm sure there are many other examples like that.Enjoy the show for what it is but dont take it seriously.
>>11417774The show has a script yes but by claiming he's not the one playing you're making everyone who realize that look like a loony conspiracy theoristIt's possible other players recorded some footage, especially in some of the most uncanny"miracle plays", but he's still the one playing most of the time
>>11417774I don't know much scripted the show is but I do think they make Arino play most of the game and intervene (AD comes in and clears a few levels) only when the chances of completing the game within 1 day are close to zero due to Arino being really bad at that specific game. What I think they "script" is cutting out most of the AD interventions, Arino's tiredness at the end of many of the challenges comes off as genuine to me, so I do think he does spend nearly 12 hours in that room on each challenge; given this, he might as well be the one playing most of the game. Also, regarding Arino being good at certain games and bad at others, it's definitely a thing and he has gotten progressively better over time; I noticed a sharp improvement during the last 3-4 years. His TV popularity has declined sharply after the end of Mecha-Ike, I watch Japanese TV on a regular basis and Arino is nowhere to be found on national TV networks, the rare time he gets invited on a show I get excited because of how rare of an occurrence it is.Aside from GCCX, his work currently is extremely limited.TV :-ゲームセンターCX(フジテレビONE・フジテレビTWO・フジテレビNEXT)-超イイネ! ユニバーサルスタジオジャパン is a promotional show for Universal Studio Japan on cable TV.Currently he is doing some comedy stage work as well with younger comedians, but that's about it.I think the reason why he has been getting better at gaming is because he has much more free time now than he did when Mecha-Ike was still airing.
>>11417816>>11417828I think you're replying to some debunked pasta. The posts are probably copied from somewhere.
>>11415293What a lovely way to end the year, much love to the subbers.
Are the AI subs any good?
>>11419206They are suprisingly good and getting better. They miss out on contextual information that you would need to actually understand the scene to properly translate. Japan doesn't have pronouns like we do, so the AI will just guess leading to a lot of "he" references with women for instance, or the narrator saying "I" a lot.
>>11419206AI subs are dogshit. The only stuff they get consistently correct is the narration over gameplay footage which is stuff you can understand just by watching. Every spoken conversation between people is so broken it feels like you’re having a stroke. Absolutely no entertainment value to be derived.
she cute
>>11422448Yeah I was hoping she would have regular translation duties, but sadly she has not been back since that episode.
>>11412950https://otn.fujitv.co.jp/gamecenter/index.htmlIt's Magic John.
>>11425110>JalecoWow, another one? I can't complain they make nice games. I was hoping for something top down.
>>11425110I hope they do Operation Logic Bomb and The Ignition Factor at some point, since they seem to be doing a jaleco game a season and might have some kind of deal with them.
>>11425956I've requested both of those games before and also hope that they get to them soon.
>>11426145I think they're one of the companies like Nintendo or Capcom, where they have a deal and it's easy for them to work things out, so I fully expect both to be done in the next few years.
I think the show is a bit faked yes but not in the way most people thinkArino will often die/miss a jump/input in some spots for comedic effect. Its natural for the type of slapstick comedy he does. Doesnt mean hes bad or good on purpose, its playing up for television
Why is Arino so bad at racing games?
>>11426643bad at 3D, bad at anything with sliding or momentum. He was terrible at that Tokyo driving game too. I wonder if they give him a racing wheel would he improve? Presumably he has a diver's license and can drive a car.
Do you know za Kacho?
