This console sucks a cock and if it were made by anyone other than Nintendo there'd be zero dispute about it because it would have failed spectacularly. There's no excuse for how poorly made it is. It's clear that it was only designed for Nintendo's first party games and they didn't care about other developers. The appeal for them was the same as for consumers: that it's Nintendo's newest console, not that it's actually a good console on its own or that it's necessarily enjoyable to play or develop games for. Imagine anyone but Nintendo insisting on cartridges in fucking 1996. 3DO failed for less dumb reasons. Even the Saturn which sold pitifully compared to N64 has at least twice as many games worth playing and is better designed in every way, because it was actually designed to be a console worth developing for, not a rushed mess that they cobbled together with hardware that they could technically call it 64 bits despite consumers not even understanding what that means or how that would translate to better games, which it didn't. Nintendo is basically the Apple of video games
