Is there any cope for input lag besides retroarch runahead?
Help me bros, what is the cheapest (and smallest) device for psp?If I understand correctly, it must be android (for vulcan).
Is it safe to put my crypto wallet on one of these handhelds or anything sensitive or is Uncle Chang getting all the data.
>>12141876MagicX Mini 28 but uh, you need good eyesight
>STILL no good cobalt handhelds
>>12141890Chinkheld makers always pick the lamest colors. They never hold a candle to some of the sexiest colors the DS and 3DS had.
>>12141873I got the Retro Power color for this masterpiece and now after seeing this render I'm thinking maybe black would have been better. Can't decide.>>12141890Cobalt was cringe. Metallic teal was the tits.
Ayaneo won
How did Ayaneo and Ayn come out of nowhere and release the hottest handhelds around.
>Everyone hates the rk3659>There is no other competitor for his price. Anbernic FUCKING WON
Ayaneo the konkror
>>12141906lmao nice try shoehorning aynus in there retroon
>>12141898The black one looks boring to me
>>12140176I dont get it, doesn't Android also need you to add ROMs? Or is there an Android loophole in which they can send you the roms without issues?I dont get this reason to abandon Linux. But I love flashing OS' and ROMs to my systems.
>>12141901I won by getting a Pocket Air MiniI'll win even harder if AYN upgrades the Odin 3 Mini to have an OLED screen and an SDG3G3
Heads up, RP5 is 169 on ali right now
>>12142027not real
Still really looking forward to my Konkr Pocket Fit bros. Gonna be my main handheld going forward.
i dont think i could ever look at a android handheld again, that 7 frame input lag on the rp5 blackppilled me to oblivion
>>12142050you might rethink that after watching thishttps://youtu.be/eiAJKMkXYC0
>>12142038Retard. Ignore the $15 jewyawk tax Fuck FUCK I really really dont need a THIRD RP5
is beetle saturn to demanding for rp5? Tried Grandia with it and there are major graphical issues, huge framerate drops and weird blue deinterlacing. With yabasanshiro, everything runs perfectly and it looks amazing.
>>12142095yeah youd be a sucker giving retroid any money
Thats it. I have to fucking stop. This is my last ever chinkheld. I have dozens This is fine, a great deal and it will ship before the 11/11 and black friday disasters. Between this the rp5 and the mini and my flip 2 and my deck I can play literally anything in bed I'm not a consoomer I just care about small portable devices. We all die. It doesnt matter what you can play if you're dead. Its better to enjoy what I have. I'm not a consoomer. I'm not a hoarder just a collector and my collection is finished. I will never again buy a handheld until there is a massive, multi generational leap in performance. I'm done. There's literally no reason to own dozens of these even though I feel massive regret on ones I "missed out" on like the metal RP2s. My rp4p mogs it, I dont care I dont need it I dont want it. They all do the same thing. I will not buy the RGDS. I dont care about the Thor. I have dozens of DS and 3DSes. Its ok if a few of them get scratched up. We all die. I will die. I can die right this second and having a lot of pristine devices won't get my heart beating again. I can use things without needing a "backup". It doesnt matter.
>>12142115but anon... the new linuxchinkheld that plays ps3, xbox, and 360 is just around the corner... surely you don't want to miss out on all those huge libraries?
why is jewy so auraful?
>>12142132unironically after ps3, there's no reason to make new handhelds afterwards
>>12142115I'd be interesting in reading a blog post about why you bought to many to begin with.
>>12142067this is actually pretty interesting, from what I'm gathering from multiple posts about people testing latency with original hardware on crts it seems to hover around 50ms. I haven't looked into it in detail but it seems like it could be possible to actually have the same or less lag than original hardware with oled and properly configured run ahead settings.
https://youtu.be/z4rKcObEz1c?si=VEaktzkUCaKQMhShLooks like it's still 1gb of ram so x55 and the retroons are still the best for portmaster games that need 2 or higher.
Is the Antec Core HS/Ayaneo Slide a good X86-held?Wanting something less girthy to lug around than the Steam Deck.
>>12141987Everyone can just add their own roms, but for companies like powkiddy and the like, their linux handhelds only did well for not having to set them up since they come preloaded with roms. Their android handhelds don't have that problem since most people in china know android. The x28 is their most popular device domestically for that reason. Chip companies like snapdragon also don't work with you if you sell devices with roms included if you don't have permission.
>>12142221>it could be possible to actually have the same or less lag than original hardware with oled and properly configured run ahead settings. It's 100% possible, even on Android. But a lot of anons are behind the times or simply ignorant.
>>12142095>Is slower than RG557>less RAM>less storage>older OS>doesn't support USB-C display output>costs moreBut WHY?
>>12141895Powkiddy has fun colors.
>>12142067I already knew about this but never correct lagdroid posts because I hate android so much and am always trying to save people from it

>>12142258why do you hate android?
>>12142259Learn about how to configure latency controls in emulators.Research screen type and operating system of your handheld of choice.Learn how to de-bloat and possibly install custom firmware on your device.
>>12142260I could write a 10 page essay about all the problems with Google and Sundae .Other then that its a product rather then a OS that pushes people to buy things , wastes recourses with bloat that causes lag on low end devices , being proprietary causes support issues even with a large and motivated community and it feels like a phone(work , boring) rather then a gaming device (fun) .
>>12142242Literally all of that is wrong kek other than raw benchmark speed and ram is wrong kekIt doesnt matter when you're stuck with mediakek drivers though
>>12142272Yes but android has better mali drivers. N64 is fairly dogshit on linux with A133 and 3566 but on android most if not all games run at full speed. Less so with DC and PSP but its still better than on linux You guys are just dumb and dont know how to turn off vsync in retroarch.
>>12142221>properly configured run ahead settings.how do I do that?
>>12142315NTA, you dont need run ahead usually. Just do this. Applies to android and linux

>>12142314Super retarded reply that shows no reading comprehension.I have no real performance problems with android other then on low end devices and those suffer most with lag while just navigating the system ui since the andorid UI is heavier then most low end emulators . Also I play PSP and N64 play fine on my 353m at full speed with only a slight OC so I don't know what your talking about. Does get hot af though
>>12142342>PSP>353M>fullspeedBullshit. Pick 2

>>12142353I have only tested the battlefronts because I'm to busy having a rich full life but they are full speed . But like I said my complaints with android are not about emulator performance

not upgrading from my flip 2 until they start making windows handhelds that are the same size

>>12142398Don't reply me, retard.
I got an anbernic without joysticks that was recommended here, I think it was the RG35XX Plus, and beat the first Bonk on the TurboGrafx-16 with it. Which chinkheld is good to play N64, Saturn, Playstation, and maybe Dreamcast? I plan to get one next year.
>>12142556Steam Deck.
>>12142556Assuming you want to avoid lagdroid either the 'eck on the high end or potentially the new Trimui Smart Pro S depending on how strong the chip is (we will know in a couple weeks)
>>12142549Neophyte.
>>12142556>saturn>playstationMassively different hardware requirements there.
>>12142526The gpd win 1 is smaller than the flip 2. The win 2 is the same size.
So I'm thinking about buying a Trim UI Brick in Purple since it's only gonna cost me like 3 bucks out of my pocket since I have a refund credit on my amazon account.
These aren't retro handhelds go to /v/
>>12142138Because he never hides the fact that he’s a Retroid shill, every one of his posts linking to Retroid devices very much are affiliate links.>>12142556If you want to play Dreamcast or Saturn, that’s going to push you into Android territory.
>>12142616have you used a small windows handheld, at least gpd ones?they get ridiculously hot when gaming and the battery dies quick, don't even think about gaming while charging too if you don't want to end up with nerve damage that you'll feel when you're older.the future is ARM
>>12142591>potentially the new Trimui Smart Pro S depending on how strong the chip is (we will know in a couple weeks) Some people are posting rumors that the Pro S will have the A523 and Android.
>>12142682Would this be worth it even if I have a Konkr Pocket Fit ordered?
>>12142708Completely different use cases.
>>12142708why would you need more than one handheld?
>>12142715Yeah that's what I was thinking. Honeslty I'd just like a companion device to my big dick handheld, that I could like throw in my pocket and use on my breaks at work.
>>12142705It is a523 (a527 without video out). it's still linux, but they just mean android works better on the chip.
>>12142717I suppose I don't, I just like the way the TrimUi Brick looks I guess.
>>12142721Yes, that's pretty much its use case. Non-stick games (so basically 16-bit era) on the go. Though you might find the screen a bit on the small side, depending on what you want to play. It's surprisingly good quality, however, for its price tier. Also, if you have large hands, it's somewhat cramped.
>>12142732If it can play up to Game Boy Advance that's basically all I need it to do.
>>12142727Trimui tend to lowball their RAM amounts, but I hope this time they go with 4 GB. I've noticed that the only A523 device from the handheld spreadsheet has 4 GB, so hopefully the Pro S will be similar.
while trimui devices look good, their custom firmware never received the kind of attention that anbernic, miyoo or powkiddy did and therefore is shit compared to muos, onion or batocera. I know knulli is available now for trimui devices which is good but I don't think it's at the level of muos.
>>12142734Then it should be a good fit. Personally, I haven't used mine too much. Waiting for CrossMix v1.4.0, so I can directly move my microSD from the Pro to it. And also have launch scripts which don't whack the CPU frequency to max for some piddly 16-bit emu. The stock OS comes with heavily overboosted clocks, leading to the common complaint of the metal heatspreader (on the top half of the device's back) getting quite warm.
>>121427361gb. The video was deleted, but it's still 1
>>12142743Ew. Hopefully they do a quick revamp and add at least another gig.
>>12142737but muos is available for the smart pro and brick
>>12142115I really want one of these too but the lack of analog input in the triggers kinda kills it for meNot to mention, I think the perfect 4:3 device should have a six button layout
>>12142583>>12142591I see, then I guess I'll just need a good SD card, my Deck's already filled with games that don't work on my PC and indie games.
>>12142739I'm also considering the Miyoo Flip V2 cause I dig the GBASP aesthetic.
>>12142843I really hate sticks on verticals (Flip V2 is also a vertical, just foldable), which is why I got the Brick in the first place.
what's the best SP clone right now?
>>12142728having more than one device is not a good idea.you'll be constantly conflicted on which device to play a game on and you'll never finish games you'll be start and go, and then you'll get more devices and so on.
>>12142874RG34XXSP is the king right now. The Miyoo mini flip might be a contender but it's also too small.
>>12142940Mini Flip is the best by virtue of being actually EDC-able and seemingly having a good hinge (although that might change). If you want a handheld for longer gaming sessions you'd choose something bigger anyways.
Are you ready for RP6?
>>12142970No. I'm still going with the Konkr.
>>12142874V90
>>12142940>Joysticks

bros, which handheld u are using for old games (SNES/GBA/PS1)? I can buy something like RP5 but it's overkill, also Miyoo Mini Plus kinda cool but too small.... HELP
>>12143012I don't have one yet, but I'll get an RP Classic for those consoles as soon as it goes on sale
>>12143012Trimui Smart Promaybe wait for the Smart Pro S refresh, it should be able to properly handle PSP, N64, DC etc
>>12143004You should try installing and playing vice city on it instead of watching someone else play it
>>12142334Turning vertical sync off is an outdated method. These days the best settings have it turned on.Anon and yourself should do research about optimal latency settings. And yes, you do need runahead for best possible settings.

>>12143124He posted a magic x handheld, not an anbernic.
What's the best / cheapest option for PS2 emulation? RP5? I currently just have a MM+ for everything before that I use while on the go. Looking for something I can use at home that doesn't break the bank
>>12143210Should I get a Miyoo Flip v2 or a RG3XX-SP?And why?I consider Anbernic to have better build and quality but I have not seen either of these in the flesh. What about hinges, or buttons.Alternativelly, should I get v90S for my cousins? I am considering R36 vs v90s, they will only play GBA and SNES, no need for earphones or power.
>>12142897>you'll be constantly conflicted on which device to play a game on and you'll never finish games you'll be start and go, and then you'll get more devices and so on. Just segregate them by platform. Ex. my RG505 is for PSP and undemanding porn games (RPGM through JoiPlay, VNs, Android ports of random stuff etc.), my Trimui Model S is exclusively for GB/GBC (not like other platforms look good on it in the first place), and my Smart Pro is for general 8/16 bit emu (except GB/GBC, as mentioned), and those Portmaster games which actually run decently on it.
>>12143210RP4 Pro @ $150 is probably the floor.RP5 is still good but I wouldn't get it for retail price now that the G2 and 6 are announced.>>12143225Miyoo Flip hinge is critically unreliable, do not get.
You only need one good 4:3 device and one good 16:9 device with a large screenAbandon the desire for a dual screen device
>>12143242this works too but it really is better to just have one jack of all trades instead of juggling a bunch of chinkhelds
>>12143276that's what I've been saying 99% of ds games emulate just fine with a big top screen and small bottom screen or toggling between them. anything else that needs the screens lined up or fast touch controls can be played with a cheap drawing tablet on pc
>>12142874I'm happy with the RG35XXSP due to the aspect ratio. I can take the hit on not having exact GBA scaling as it works better for CRT based systems.
Tweaked with the handheld a bit today and managed to write rocknixs immutable boot partition to the emmc and also get morrowind working fully
>>12143349I wish the RG34XXSP had no twin sticks, it looks off with sticks, the RG35XXSP is more pleasing, but it feels bigger compared to RG280V in the size comparison page. How does it feel in your pocket? Also, does it have the infamous buttons issue? I do not know which of the two RGXX-SP to get regarding the buttons.
What's the Miyoo Flip like for playing Playstation how smooth would something like Metal Gear or Clock Tower run?
>>121434163566, so fine for both unless you mean the mini flip in which I have no idea.
>>12142398'eck
>>12142263>just do this>>how?>just learn how to do itand telling someone to install custom firmware for fucking runahead settings is retarded, it's completely unrelated
>>12143408While the RG35XXSP is a tiny bit bigger than a real GBA-SP I haven't found it to be uncomfortable, both in holding or carrying around. I'm fine with the slight extra heft, but it's a subjective thing if you're used to light handhelds.Yes, the buttons are noticeably clicky but again, I'm fine with that. Anyway it's an easy enough fix to do yourself if you find it bothersome.
>>12143012Anbernic Cubexx
>>12142242>older OSI see you're new to this but you NEVER want an OS newer than 13. 11 is ideal. Better compatibility.
>>12143348just get a ds and a soul you queer
>>12143408forget about the looks, what are you gay? you don't look at sticks while playing.its a near perfect gba clone and the sticks are there if you wanna use them or not for whatever reason {alternative control, hotkeys, etc.)I've shelved my gba sps and gba collection since getting it, it's that good.
is there any way to get .glsl shaders on the switch version of retroarch?I looked it up and the solution is to switch video renderer to GL, I have it set to gl but the shaders don't show up in the selection, only .glslp
Waiting for this to be send
>>12143579original hardware is obsolete. I've been meaning to sell my ds and 3ds I've just been too lazy and I'll never buy another console again.

>>12143758That would be usefull.Moreso, this is what lazy ass fucking devs should do for all of their re-releases. Look at the mega man games, they could very easy move the HUD elements off the screen, freeing up the 4:3 play area. This would only be romhack tier shit.
>>12143063Android always has vsync on retard You're introducing massive input latency by leaving it on in the emulator
>>12143210You can get an RP5 right now for 165 if that choice sale still has it in stock
I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus as a companion device to carry with me to work and stuff. Do I want to use the latest Beta version of OnionOS or the stable version?
>>12143372NiceDoes it keep a steady framerate on the map?
>>12144106i don't want any more e waste
Miyoo flip V2 is around $40 bucks now. Is it still complete dogshit? Were all the colors fucked or just the gray?I've read that the dpad and buttons are leagues better than the 35xx and 34xxsp
>>12144282It should be fine now, but do you really want a vertical with sticks?
>>12143972Are you implying there is a DS console by Powkiddy?
>>12143973Wait this is about the 35XXSP or 34XXSP?I must get a transparent one, then, but which one 35 or 34? Which one has better buttons?Do we know? Also what is wrong with the D-pad? The same pierce issue, or just a comfort issue?
I have retroid mini and was not satisfied with the size of integer gba, so i tried to look for a better option and they are all worse even the ones purpose made for gba, unironically the only thing better is the thor (which unironically has a similar wsize) but it has dpad on bottom, the state of gba devices is grim af(i wish the thor had at least swappable dpad and stick)
>>12144332RG35XX-SP.>Which one has better buttons? As far as I understand it the RG34XX-SP has both the d-pad and face buttons fixed. The release RG35XX-SP (Non-transparent) has both the d-pad and face buttons pierce the domes. The renewed ones (Transparents and any of the original ones that come with fish paper on the battery) have fixed face buttons but no fixed d-pad.If you own the original release you need to print washers for both the d-pad and face buttons (8 in total). If you own the renewed release you just need to print washers for the d-pad (4 in total).>Also what is wrong with the D-pad?Piercing issue, like I said.
>>12144402Much obliged
How's the Thor's hinge?
I don't think I can wait on the Anbernic RG DS, I think I'll just settle for either a DS ML or gamble on a refurbished DSi XL/LL on Aliexpress or Japanese ebay. If Ayaneo and AYN can't pull off a relatively low lag DS experience on Android, I guess Anbernic won't be able to do it either.
How are you guys organizing your games? I'm currently using a folder named after the system (following ESDE's naming) with subfolders for hacks, homebrews and other stuff. Subfolders and different naming kinda makes it a bit of a pain to sync properly with Knulli/Batocera, so I am wondering if how others are doing it.
>>12144536Something like this.
>>12144536This won't help you but I use Launchbox on PC which will automatically put ROM hacks into the base game's context menu provided they're named properly, which is a feature ESDE should implement. For Knulli, I downloaded some rebbitor's custom systems config which added Genesis and SFC (which I use for fan translations and such) back in because Batocera removed them for some reason.
man looking at needing to get all this bios shit and turnip drivers and I'm already losing steam. guess I'll have to since my thor got in but fuck lot of headaches. guess yeah why not have 40 different cores for snes right more the merrier and now I need to go through to find out which I actually want (cool)
>>12144292Mainly would want one for the supposedly 1:1 feeling dpad and button switches. But if the hinge is still fucked idk even for $35Iirc the black one generally was the best hinge wise
>>12144619okay found this https://www.joeysretrohandhelds.com/guides/ayn-thor-setup-guide/so im a happy camper oh>Nintendo 64: Mupen64Plus-Next GLES3 (see M64Plus FZ Pro section below)>Nintendo DS: MelonDS DS (see MelonDS section below)really not liking "see below"
>>12144489I love the original DS but the screens just suck. Again people, there is like 3 games that NEED to have the screens stacked AND have touch based gameplay. Granted TWEWY is a 10/10 masterpiece so its worth maybe getting 3DS for if you can find one cheap. That being said the switch port is honestly quite good, the gameplay is less involved but you get extra content and better quality audio. If you have a 1:1 or close screen you can stack them and still have a decently ok sized image
>>12144649I still don't fully see the appeal of MelonDS. On x86 devices yes because you can take advantage of much higher rendering resolutions and LAN play, and multiple display settings too which would matter for much larger displays. But for Android devices, is it really that much of a significant improvement over Drastic in terms of performance on low end hardware and shit? Does it somehow have less input lag?
>>12144665>so its worth maybe getting 3DS for if you can find one cheapor just getting a DS?
>>12144619>man looking at needing to get all this bios shit and turnip drivers and I'm already losing steamnot accusing you, but it's really strange how adverse normies are to just doing some slight research on how to easily find bios and roms, I see it all the time, even on the stupider boards on this site and I find it strange
>>12144673Drastic is the zsnes of DS emulators
>>12144673Latest drastic still had a graphical issue in nsmb last I checked and audio isn't meant to be accurate. Think of melon as mgba. When you have a device that can run it, just run it.>>12144739More like gpsp. Crazy to think the first version was on the pandora
>>12144260R50S. You NEED another rockshit 3326
>>12144402Can you buy these washers you're talking about? I don't have access to a 3D printer.I just got a blue rg35xxsp (I thought waiting a year would assure me a new model but I got the old one with the really loud shitty buttons) and I'd like to use it without destroying my dome switches.
>>12144751I believe you can pay certain online 3D printing services for it, yeah, it's just probably gonna cost more than it's worth. JLC3DP is one I've heard of at least. Are you in the US or major parts of Europe? Because 3D printers are generally found in libraries around these locations. I know basically all of my local libraries allow for printing stuff like this, and when I did the washers at one of them it was so small they didn't even charge me anything.
I use a combo of the washer mod on the buttons and a riser mod on the dpad. Washers make the dpad too damn stiff. I built up 4 small risers that go between the center of the dome switch and the rubber membrane. That fixes both the piercing issue and makes the buttons much lighter to press than stock. No good way to make a proper pivot without also making the dpad stiff as shit sadly. I have opened my nigSP dozens of times at this point trying out different ideas.
>>12144770I'm in western Canada. AFAIK my local library doees not have one. I live in a pretty rural area. Maybe in a city.
>>12144751>>12144770Check in Facebook Marketplace for random 3D printed objects, like pokemon, or Halloween Masks, or other sculptures, usually they are test runs sold for cheap by the guys who own a machine. Contact them through one of those listings, usually they are open for a project and charge you barely above the materials if you ask nicely. Otherwise there might be professional listed services in some commercial index by your town. Online or otherwise.
Smart pro s shoud be announced soon and powkiddy has stuff for this month assuming things go well
Ayaneo stronk
Ayn? More like AYNRAN
>>12144789if the shart pro shroud is anywhere as badly built as the old one I don't want it
Any native android games worthwhile? On a handheld you wont want touch focused and most native games I tried where just f2p slop.Minecraft is alright but I'd rather use java launcher like pojav.
>>12144936Srb2
>>12144914>badly built as the old oneHow? I have a Pro and I don't think it's badly built, ergonomics notwithstanding.
>>12144936Dead Cells, Limbo, KOTOR only works with bluetooth controllers, Loop hero, the spongebob BFBB remaster.
>>12144936not retro
RG DS is shit but my budget was around that, maybe 150... Thor is really sounding appealing to me. Maybe I should sell some feet pics again
>>12144984retroons wont tell you this but ayn is easily king of the chinkhelds
>>12144987Yeah I had an rp3+ in its heyday and it was good kinda but I just couldn't adjust to the build quality. The buttons felt so cheap. I hope the Ayn feels like a real handheld
>>12144962tried one and it felt cheap, maybe it was just a dud
>>12144962Probably means the shoulder and face buttons. They're sub powkiddy tier. Small face buttons made sense on the model s, but not on a device where you can see the screen>>12144967>KOTOR only works with bluetooth controllersIt works with touchscreen, ps3, and anything set as xinput unless aspry changed it.>>12144969There a more android ports that a retro than portmemster.
