While the RG35XXSP is a tiny bit bigger than a real GBA-SP I haven't found it to be uncomfortable, both in holding or carrying around. I'm fine with the slight extra heft, but it's a subjective thing if you're used to light handhelds.

You actually can do an even more dynamic transformation than that image depicts. You could cut up the screen and rotate each little icon and resize it where you want it. This is GPU intensive, but not really a problem for modern hardware.

I think this is all already possible with lots of manual tinkering with reshade.

I have the RG35XX-PLUS (not "+"), aka 2024 version. It lacks the WIFI, but it has the upgraded processor, and runs all the same PortMaster games... I dont miss the WIFI, I get Cheeves using my flimsy Miyoo Mini + at home.

The RG35XX 2024 is superb as Music Player (using Rockbox) it his hardened compared to Miyoo Mini, and the Dracula Purple is amazing (way better than AtomicGay), Purple must be Vampiric like Yesterday's 4chan theme.

On an RG35XX-SP the buttons will pierce through the membranes and damage the contacts after several months of usage. In the revision (Any transparent model) they have a fix for this for the face buttons already implemented, but the d-pad was not fixed.

I have retroid mini and was not satisfied with the size of integer gba, so i tried to look for a better option and they are all worse even the ones purpose made for gba, unironically the only thing better is the thor (which unironically has a similar wsize) but it has dpad on bottom, the state of gba devices is grim af

As far as I understand it the RG34XX-SP has both the d-pad and face buttons fixed.
The release RG35XX-SP (Non-transparent) has both the d-pad and face buttons pierce the domes.
The renewed ones (Transparents and any of the original ones that come with fish paper on the battery) have fixed face buttons but no fixed d-pad.

If you own the original release you need to print washers for both the d-pad and face buttons (8 in total). If you own the renewed release you just need to print washers for the d-pad (4 in total).

I don't think I can wait on the Anbernic RG DS, I think I'll just settle for either a DS ML or gamble on a refurbished DSi XL/LL on Aliexpress or Japanese ebay. If Ayaneo and AYN can't pull off a relatively low lag DS experience on Android, I guess Anbernic won't be able to do it either.

How are you guys organizing your games? I'm currently using a folder named after the system (following ESDE's naming) with subfolders for hacks, homebrews and other stuff. Subfolders and different naming kinda makes it a bit of a pain to sync properly with Knulli/Batocera, so I am wondering if how others are doing it.

For Knulli, I downloaded some rebbitor's custom systems config which added Genesis and SFC (which I use for fan translations and such) back in because Batocera removed them for some reason.

I love the original DS but the screens just suck.
Again people, there is like 3 games that NEED to have the screens stacked AND have touch based gameplay.
Granted TWEWY is a 10/10 masterpiece so its worth maybe getting 3DS for if you can find one cheap.
That being said the switch port is honestly quite good, the gameplay is less involved but you get extra content and better quality audio.
If you have a 1:1 or close screen you can stack them and still have a decently ok sized image

I still don't fully see the appeal of MelonDS. On x86 devices yes because you can take advantage of much higher rendering resolutions and LAN play, and multiple display settings too which would matter for much larger displays. Are you in the US or major parts of Europe? Because 3D printers are generally found in libraries around these locations. I know basically all of my local libraries allow for printing stuff like this, and when I did the washers at one of them it was so small they didn't even charge me anything.

I use a combo of the washer mod on the buttons and a riser mod on the dpad.
Washers make the dpad too damn stiff.
I built up 4 small risers that go between the center of the dome switch and the rubber membrane.
That fixes both the piercing issue and makes the buttons much lighter to press than stock.
No good way to make a proper pivot without also making the dpad stiff as shit sadly.
I have opened my nigSP dozens of times at this point trying out different ideas.

Contact them through one of those listings, usually they are open for a project and charge you barely above the materials if you ask nicely.
