I like tank controls, unironically. They fill me with a sense of joy. I don't enjoy when control is effortless. I need to battle them and make them submit to me.

Ok contrarian

Pretty based desu

Having to learn new control schemes and movement methods used to be the norm back then.
>>
>>12166119
What you call tank controls aren't tank controls. Tank controls are when you independently control left and right locomotion. QWOP has more tank controls than RE.

I like tank controls in survival horror because it just werks.
>makes turning and looking around extra slow and spooky
>good momentum in RE games, you only get stuck on corners if you're a clutz
>dodging, quick turn, shoulder strafing mechanics are always welcome but very rare
>even made the transition to RE4 gracefully

do you also have a meltdown when people talk about strategy games?

You have very low standards for what qualifies as a meltie.

Tank controls.
>>
>>12166172
well ob i'm exaggerating, where do you think we are. what i trying to say is, vidya =/= real life, people won't care about your "well akchully" even if you are technically right. thank you for your service or whatever.

I love them because because I have never had any problem with them.
>>
>>12166119
I don't even battle them, they feel natural in most games that have them.
>>
yeah tank controls are fine, wouldn't say i like them per se but when the game is designed with them in mind i have no issue with it, i didn't like using the 'modernized' controls on the REmake HD versions either since it felt less natural
>>
>>12166119
I like tank controls, unironically. And unlike you I'm not ironically shitposting. And unlike you I know what tank controls actually are.

What are some games with actual tank controls? I'm over here thinking of the RE games and I feel like I'm wrong

my "first" game with tank control was RE1,i played it in 2019 after not having use tank control since i was a child and right after moving around for a couple of second i never had to "battle them" and it didn't require any more effort than other simple control scheme, you are very low IQ if you cant adapt to the controls of the vast majority of games especially on console and i cant imagine what its like for you to learn anything new.

didn't a lot of actual tanks have steering wheels though?
>>
>>12166186
So what do you call the controls in games like Battlezone and Assault then? Helicopter controls?
And what about the fact that first games with rotational controls were spaceship games? Like Spacewar! and Asteroids? At what point did it stop being spaceship controls and become tank controls? When one arbitrarily picked game from the 1990s used them to control a human? What? Why? Why are zoomers like this?

Your feeling is correct. But don't feel bad. Many children use words incorrectly.
>What are some games with actual tank controls?
I can only think of one tank game that uses what you call "tank controls". That's combat. Other tank games of the time, such as battlezone, used two sticks for the neutral steering that "tank controls" simulate.
>>
>>12166310
>didn't a lot of actual tanks have steering wheels though?
No. I can't think of another heavy tank at that time that had a steering wheel. Also the Tiger 1 still had independent manual controls for each tread, so literally still had actual tank controls.

Does that mean the M4 Sherman didn't have tank controls since it couldn't do neutral steering?

But tank controls are effortless. Always have been

Being a 4chins video games contrarian is symptom of not getting laid. It's a really weird phenomenon, scientists are still scratching their heads about this one.
>>
>>12167392
>when retards try to be clever
>>
>>12167416
I'll pick contrarianism over having every game play the same. You guys who often complain about "aged" old games don't even love nu-games that much, and it's because they rarely surprise you anymore since everything is standardized
>>
>>12166119
This is so lame, dude. Why are you bragging and LARPing on a retro games forum of all places like we care

What you described is RE 1:1
Press left - engages right locomotion
Press right - engages left locomotion
Forward - engages both
So, just like a tank
>>
>>12167412
No. But thanks for a stunningly flawed example of shortbus logic.
>>
>>12168264
Now I want to see a RE game where the character pivots like a basketball player whenever you turn around in place.

>Tank controls are when you independently control left and right locomotion
So where does Katamari Damacy fit in that? Tank controls or not?
>>
>>12168553
Very Yes!

Some tanks could do "track warping", bending the front of the tracks a bit so they would behave like cars for slight turns.

You actually battle them just once, or may I say you're breaking them, like a new horse. Then It'll feel natural.

yes they are retard lmao
you can dodge left and right in Resident Evil 3 too
now shut the fuck up and take it

Always saw the quick aiming in Parasite Eve 2 as the response to 'tank controls sux'. Locking onto shit even offscreen and racking up the damage felt good, and magic gives you a lot of control over combat. It's still a tank controls game but there's bossfights with patterns and situational movement is key in a lot of them.
