One of my Snes consoles was showing signs of bad caps, crackling sound and wavy lines on the screenDid a full recap now audio and wavy lines are fixed but theres a purple-whiteish line scrolling vertically, its mostly notoceable on dark backgrounds, any idea what cpuld it be? i also replaced the 7805 with brand new one, power supply works fine on my other Snes consoles.
idk how to recap or fix the SNES but mine has fucked up background layers and the edges of sprites are like blended negatively with the colors near it which i didnt even think would be possible
>>12170360sounds like the PPU2 is fucked
We're finally reaching that time when these consoles start to wear out internally huh. dang. I had hoped the less complex pre-cd era consoles would potentially be relatively easily repairable for at least another 50 years.
original hardware amirite?
>>12170349if you emulated you wouldn't have these problems
>>12170349Just bin it and get a new one. Nintendo stuff has a finite life and is a pain to reapair, they were kids toys deigned for maximum profit margin.>>12170404This unless you cannabalise another one for parts it's toast. Generally avoid anything nintendo made after the NES, the cartridge batteries die as well. It blows my mind that these tendie morons pay a fortune to buy sealed copies of crap with rotting batteries in it. Complete fad played on them by resellers who saw how dumb they were
>>12171101>>12171104Nitendo is one of the few thinngs where emulation is always the correct answer because their hardware quality issues, same with the gamecube, absolute bastard to keep running, when it is dead bin it, they have massive issues with component failure due to heat. I've redone two and it cost more for the person paying than just buying another one.
consider this insanity, there is a 40 year old rotting battery sealed in there, nintendo fanboys are mentally ill and can't into tech
>>12171173Just wait until you get into arcade PCBs. Seems like half of them have (as of now, or formerly) irreplaceable parts which fail for no reason. I have a Liquid Kids PCB which, despite being stored in bubble wrap in my house, now just throws up a black screen, which is apparently often due to failure of a custom Taito chip. How to fix? Take one from another board, or hope caius engineers a replacement.
