>be Kojima>stroke out over NES port of Metal Gear done without asking you>later>Konami makes a US-only sequel that he's also not involved in>"Oh hey this wasn't that bad of a game"Was it autism?
>>12587853Why did MG skip the 16-bit consoles?
>>12587921kojima was working on other stuff (and presumably writing mgs) and snake's revenge wasn't well received
>>12587950>thread didn't bump when this was postedOP you can't bump your own thread, dumbass.
>>12587963i'm not op, i just don't bump threadseven if i was, who gives a shit? you asked a question and got an answer
>>12587963he saged it but he'll get banned if he admits it
>>12587853SR is basically for people liked Metal Gear and wanted moar.
>>12587853SR being competently made compared to the MG1 port was likely a major factor, plus the developers were already asking Kojima to make a real sequel anyway.
>>12587853>>12587921What could has been?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYyoDDhZOqs
>>12587853it didn't really matter that it was a sequel, it wasn't the game he made. without that ownership he was more generous, and snake's revenge isn't as bad as the nes port.
>>12587853>US-only sequelThat was why. Nobody in Japan knew about SR so it didn't affect his reputation over there.
>>12587853In Phantom pain there's a mission where you have to discover a bunch of hidden deckles with the names of metal Gear games on them and when you find them, only the ones that Kojima Made count towards your score and when you find other games Kojima didn't make snake makes snide comments like "it's nothing special" etc.I really wish Kojima never left Konami but I can't blame them for canning him after pulling stunts like that in an $80 million dollar project. Konami's move to Pachinko and mobile games aside, Kojima's ego must have been well out of control by that point. He was hobknobbing with Hollywood folks after all.
>>12587950>kojima was working on other stuff (and presumably writing mgs)Kojima was working in the home computer division of Konami at this point in time. I don't think he had any say on what the console side of Konami was doing. They did have free reign to port games from the PC to hone consoles. In 1988 Hideo was probably working on SD Snatcher. His first console game was the port of Snatcher to the PC Engine CD-ROM. Hideo was happy with Snakes revenge on the NES because it allowed him to get a green light on Metal Gear 2 for the MSX2. Metal Gear Solid apparently started after hid team was done with Policenauts on the Panasonic 3DO... which he was directly involved in. The PS1 and Saturn versions were ports of the 3DO remake of Policenauts. Metal Gear Solid was originally conceived as a 3DO game.
