I want to play PS1 games but also want the library of the PS2, should I go with a cheap PS2 slim that's region modded so I can play imports of both PS1 & 2 or would I be better off just getting a standard PS1?

>>12587998Something to note is that if you plan on modding the system and playing from backups, that only works for PS2 games unless you install a specific type of modchip that also lets you run PS1 backups. The chips are also an absolute bitch to install so most people just use Popsloader (a hacked emulator) for PS1 games, which has awful compatibility.If you're only going to be using retail discs then a Phat PS2 is fine for what you want.

>>12588079Such a missed opportunity. It should have been possible to enable 480i high resolution rendering for PS1 games. But of course they would never do that, because it would make the PS2 look bad, since PS1 games at high res often look better than PS2 games.
