How do you map the buttons of a Genesis or Saturn controller into a standard controller?
Just map it in the way that you find most comfortable. Why do normies have to ask for affirmation from other people for every little thing?
>>12589853On an Xbox Controller:>A=A>B=B>C=Right Bumper>X=X>Y=Y>Z=Left Bumper
I just give up and use the keyboard.
>>12589853A=XB=AC=BX=LBY=YZ=RBany other answer is wrong
>>12589916This
>>12589916This is what I do. You use the A B C buttons the most so it's most intuitive to map them this way.
>>12589853The correct answer is that it depends on the gameFor example, Streets of Rage on an Xbox controller:>X = Attack>A = Jump>Y = Special
>>12589853Not Xbox but here's how i do it myself, its only uncomfortable when playin MK.
The modern xbox controller is actually the descendant of the six button genesis pad. The original duke controller actually keeps the six button layout from it's predecessor, the sidewinder, except the button layout is twisted counter clockwise. The 360 pad would go on to replace the black and white buttons (C and Z) with the shoulder bumpers. If we follow this logic, >>12589887 would be an accurate modern layout.
>>12589975they should have kept the 6 face buttons on top of the shoulder and trigger ones
>>12589975my god that was terrible.
While we are at it, is pic related worth it for emulation of Genesis + Saturn games?
>>12589853A B C to X A BX Y Z to Y LB RB
>>12589853I wouldn't. I got a USB version of the 3 button controller.>>12590148Yes
i don't, i use a 6 button genny controller
>>12589981Nope, it's actually a great controller. Feels great in the hands. The D-pad only LOOKS ugly, it's actually very snappy and responsive. This conversation gets repeated every time someone posts a picture of a sidewinder here. I think it's an age thing. If you were born in the 2000s you won't get it.
>>12591016Tranny Smith, i am older then 24 years old, I WAS A TEEN in the 90s, i tested this pad, it was horrible! i even got to test the pad back in the day when i used to hit flea markets in the 2000s, shit was awful.
>>12591032So you held it once 40 years ago? Ok sure, your review is valid. I have four of them, two USB and two gameport models. Way better than a Gravis Gamepad, for example.
>>12589853Not like that wtf
>>12591157C is the jump button.B is the action button that you may need to press while having C at your reach.A is the secondary button that never requires C to be at your reach. It makes perfect sense in action games, it's only a bit awkward for menus because of the cancel button.Genesis emulation shaped the way I map buttons to the keyboard too, and no one will convince me there's a better way to do this. Fighting games are the sole exception.
>>12591196why the fuck would you map the snes buttons like that, same with the WASD fags?A=YZ=BS=XX=AD=LC+RE= StartQ= Selectthat has always been my mappin since the ZSNES days.
>>12589979Very based. We desperately need 6 button controllers again.
>>12591214It felt so effortlessly perfect.Take Mega Man X for example, you have jump, shot and dash in a straight key line right where your fingers rest.
>>12589853ESDF for d-padJKL for buttonsI for start
Do yourself a favour and get this NSO reproduction. The 3-button roller feels great with its chunky buttons.
>>12589975this controller was good except for the dpad. comfortable but as inaccurate as the original xbox.
>>12591263Too expensive is like 20 bucks more than the nso snes pad
>>12590148Yeah but there are also cheaper options, especially if you go wired.
>>12591263>>12591809That and is also almost always out of stock.
