Honestly don't understand why this game is disliked as much, even if your default argument is that it's >too reddit. Overall story is decent, a good continuation of the previous game. Seeing certain settlements develop over time, as well as the variety of new settlements and their history post-unity is captivating and makes you want to explore more. The variety of quests and ways to approach them are more varied than the first installement, as are the variety of weapons, armour, and companions. At its weakest you could argue that the game is derivative and essentially a weak-copy of the first in terms of its story beats, but I had fun enough to want to replay again straight after.Only part I didn't enjoy was San Fransisco and the Shi, as I feel those areas are very underdeveloped compared to other areas such as Vault City and NCR. I liked New Reno as well, but didn't feel captivated enough to want to explore when I had Hakunin astralprojecting himself into my mind every few weeks to tell me Arroyo was FUCKED. Honestly, I find 2 a lot more in line with New Vegas, so if you like the latter you'll probably really enjoy the former. Also Cass' dad is in it, so yay.

The final boss is goated though because it shits all the over the pseudo intellectuals who beat the first game by convincing the master he's wrong. Fallout required you to read and talk to people and going full murder hobo was only really viable on repeat playthroughs when you already knew what to do and where to go. You weren't really that clever for convincing him he's wrong in a game where you can save almost anywhere and have to talk to seemingly everyone. Frank shits all over this and you can't convince this meathead to stand down. You can convince other people on the base to help take him down but the main boss cannot be talked down you must fight him even if you just have other do all the work. This ties in with the forced tutorial the devs were ordered to add to the game where your tribal buddy tells you not everyone can be talked out of a fight. Absolute kino all this and the FO1 snobs still didn't get it, heh some smarty pants they turned out to be.
