You know it's so ridiculously simple that D&D has been a normie game for well over a decade now, right?
Is rolling dice too complicated for you?
>>
>>3626222
Hot take: D&D rules don’t translate well to videogames. There’s too many misses. As a player you want to be hitting most of the time. JRPGs figured that out a long time ago.
>>
>>3626427
The hit formula in final fantasy tactics is Hit % = (1-CEv) x (1-WEv) x (1-SEv) x (1-AEv)
Think about how stupid this is.
>>
>>3626432
Why do you think this particular formula is stupid?
>>
>>3626436
In pf2e the formula is
(21 + attack bonus - target AC) / 20

Sign me up unless it's an edition above 3.5.
>>
>>3626455
Actually to expand on this, the only jrpg that really gets it right is kiseki which is dex/(dex+agi), functionally similar to tabletop systems.
>>
>>3626436
The only answer they have is that there are too many numbers for them to follow.
>>
People crying about D&D will never not be funny to me. God forbid you just don't play games with systems you don't like.

Tell me, oh genius, why is the formula for tabletop more elegant but exponentially more modular and complex? The more bloated an equation is, the more hidden it must be. When we have simple equations we can have transparency, which the player can interact with in more ways. So to me, it seems you are filtered by a lack of handholding and automation. There are many ways to always hit things in tabletop, but you have to create those situations.

They assume you had a core group of good friends in high school or young adulthood who you played DnD with while forming lifelong bonds and memories. Sorry you didn't experience that

The DnD system is addition and subtraction of 5% increments, it's anything but modular, and it's very easily broken.

Just for your FFT example it adds diminishing returns by simple multiplication and there aren't even any float values for evasion.
You can simulate this by just having multiple D20 die in a roll with each representing an individual hit check.

You have four die of different colors, or if you want to be fancy those resin dice with an image of each inside, each for C-Ev, W-Ev, S-Ev, and A-Ev. then for example with having to roll under 15, 18, 10, and 20 to hit. If you took those same values of +5, +2, and +10 additively you'd get ~15% chance to hit, but with the four(three) roll you'd get ~0.33% chance to hit with much more modularity.

Surely, if you can read, you can locate the lengthy post where he answered your question. If you cannot read then I see no point in quoting it.

>>3626358
There's a huge difference between some normies playing a level 1-3 module designed for total newcomers to learn the ropes, and jumping into a full fledged crpg campaign with an overwhelming amount of mechanics and things to learn. Also, those normies have their friends and DM help them throughout the session.
>>
What edition fag?
>>
>>3626839
>it's anything but modular
PF2e has a 4 degrees of success system with hit chance that can go well over 100%. This is because there are a lot of ways to affect DC and even weapons have a lot of active modifiers. This is not the case in FFT when character stat growth is almost entirely irrelevant, gear is generally vertical upgrades, and most power progression is through abilities which are also vertical in nature. This makes FFT a nitwit game buried under bloat the player doesn't even think about.
>>
>>3626960
Everything you listed has nothing to do woth the formulas, and is all based around the surrounding factors of the game.
Even were someone to agree with you about said factors - it’s irrelevant to the discussion, as well as to what you claimed here. >>3626432
>>
>>3626981
>Everything you listed has nothing to do woth the formulas
Those factors are present because the formula is so retarded and inefficient. It's not a game with a good mathematical framework. These aren't independent jssues, they are deeply connected.

>>3626906
>still talking about himself in the third person

Your handwaving pilpul of “I can look up the thread and see right there where X” gimmick is rather trite and played out.
>>
>>3626960
>This makes FFT a nitwit game
FFT is a game for children from thirty years ago. You, presumably an adult, choose to spend your time arguing with third world teenagers on the internet about children’s games. This is unfathomably embarrassing and shameful behavior.

I accept your concession.
