Undertale Yellow's anniversary is just 2 weeks away now. Has there been a fangame to match its quality? Are you developing a fangame? Share progress!
I'm less than a month from getting free to go back to work on my fan made stuffI can almost taste it
>>3880048from my limited experience of fangames i'd say the only one that's mostly finished (aside from the extra content they intend to add neverever) is red-yellow, and even then all it is just a new game plus of sorts that adds shit tying base undertale to uty.it's pretty alright
Stop posting about these fucking tranny games they're such fucking garbage. I can't believe anybody likes this trash.

UT new hope updatewhile cool, I think those animations slow down the battles even more and will make people want to click fight even less than they already didhttps://gamejolt.com/p/dev-log-25-november-2025-cyp3kxkf
also someone made a wildfire thread >>>/v/726797318
I just finished Chapter 1 of Deltarune Yellow and I am impressed. Is it really all being made by one guy?The battles were very good. I found Bearing too easy compared to von Honvich, but maybe that was some secret debuff that Lovelace imposed on him, since nothing visibly happened. I can't have been the only one to have apprehended von Honvich though he's technically not a "criminal". I'm not sure if there is a way to defeat him without killing or using the lasso. The town is beautifully designed with lovely spritework and shading showing the passage of time. Good inclusion of UTY characters, but while Starlo fits thematically as mayor it feels off since he seems older than his UTY self (mid 20s). The Ketsukanes don't seem so poor as to have only corn chowder (doesn't fit with their Asian aesthetic either), and the town while backwater would presumably get shipments. Maybe it's actually a medieval village; there are no paved roads leading out. I'm disappointed there is no saloon.I thought it impossible I could like Martlet more. Gone is the lovable ditz, but she's now a dysfunctional, tired caretaker doing everything to keep Cole from living as an orphan. She knows she's out of her depth, but is barely holding herself together for his sake. Hits very close to home. One complaint I have (besides the spelling errors which are especially common at the end, implying it was rushed) is that Kanako is quick to jump to the plotline of saving the world, after being chiefly concerned with getting back home up to that point. Maybe that's part of her character, but it feels inconsistent. In Deltarune, the "save the world" plotline is hammered home from the start, but Susie is still concerned with having a good time with Kris. Wouldn't Kanako be focused on that too, since she's losing her best friend Cole in a week?Since Chapter 2 is unfinished for now, should I wait for it to be complete before diving into that?
>>3880178Chapter 2 goes about 2/3 of the way through so there's plenty to play.
>>3880178thanks for playing, glad you liked it>Is it really all being made by one guy?it is mainly me with my friends giving me some ideas and feedback, but I do the coding and spriting and everything>I found Bearing too easy compared to von Honvichthe hardest part for me is coming up with enemy attacks and design for the darkners, thats what eats most of my time in the gamechapters 2 and 3 will explain more on kanako's backstory and stuff, also chapter 2 will get new content in robo town (as seen in video related), but I will only release the update once all of chapter 2 is complete. it can be played now but you might miss on some stuff (minor though)hopefully I can get it done by early next year
>>3880193>the hardest part for me is coming up with enemy attacks and design for the darkners, thats what eats most of my time in the gameI can believe it. It's the most important part of the game since it involves the most thought and interaction on the part of the player, and you really knocked it out of the park for the most part. Just about every enemy feels unique and with a decent amount of challenge, which is generally what you should aim for. I also really liked the minigames. It would take too long to talk about everything that I liked (I ran out of space in my first post) so let me just say it's a fangame that I solidly recommend to everybody, with the only unavoidable downside that someone ought to play Undertale and UTY and Deltarune to properly enjoy it.Question: interacting with Blackjack's door brings up how Cole would end up spending hours in his gun store. Is this because Blackjack is a tedious conversationalist, or because Cole is fascinated with guns, or both?Once again I want to emphasize how much I like Martlet's character for how little screentime she gets. I'm in a surprisingly similar boat to her, minus having a dependent, so there is a natural sympathy of commonality. I hope you never had to go through similar circumstances and never have to. If you want, I can describe what it's like to have frustration-induced anxiety. It's your story to tell and I can understand if you want to write Martlet as having a different response.>hopefully I can get it done by early next yearBased. At this rate, you might somehow finish DRY1 before the original Deltarune is complete. Don't burn yourself out though.
>>3880227>Question: interacting with Blackjack's door brings up how Cole would end up spending hours in his gun store. Is this because Blackjack is a tedious conversationalist, or because Cole is fascinated with guns, or both?that gets answered in chapter 2>martletI don't really plan to go too deep really, I'm a programmer mostly rather than a writer, which is why the dialogue feels a bit stilted in some points. some of my friends helped but I still think a better writer could rewrite it, at least I made the translation system to be really easy to use compared to other games since you just need to add a folder to appdata and you have an entire new language to choose from, so it is easy for someone to pick it up and fix stuffthat said I do have plans for martlet to be more involved but it will take a while to get there, but hopefully I can strike a good balance by then
>>3880193Honvich is a step above the rest honestly.
>>3880237>that gets answered in chapter 2I'll play it through tonight.>I don't really plan to go too deep really, I'm a programmer mostly rather than a writer, which is why the dialogue feels a bit stilted in some points.Considering how fast you've been able to pump out content, and how solid the game mechanics are, it's a good thing to focus on what you're good at. Game mechanics can flesh out a world as well as dialogue–I like putting on Kris's hat, for instance. I'm preparing to write a story about Deltarune's weird route from Kris's perspective and coming up with interesting story beats can be challenging. Aside from my earlier negative comments your writing is fine, at least for Chapter 1. The best advice I can give is to reflect on personal experience and knowledge: "write what you know."
>>3880165>Fangame development is too much effort, you should just make an original gameIts so strange to me that so many people can't understand the appeal of fanfiction. I don't want to write an original game, I want to make an Undertale game.
>>3880254I think at some point, when you put too much effort, the game just kinda stops being UT relatedUT's artstyle is shitty on purpose, so IMO fangames that go too ham are kinda "wasted effort", and also because if they went shittier they could get done faster and actually finish the game instead of burning out (flashbacks to UT Futility)
>>3880280High effort doesn't mean high detail artstyle. You can put effort into a low detail artstyle, or into other elements of the game like the gameplay and story.
>>3880249>Kris's hatCole's hat, sorry>>3880254Good media will inspire people to make works of their own. Daily reminder that if you recommend UTY to anyone, you are morally obligated to suggest playing neutral first.
>>3880519While I get the feeling, I'm not gonna suggest people have to start killing monsters if they don't want to.One of the underboys I know got stuck in Bastion because he refused to attack anything.
>>3880519It would be easier for me to recommend neutral first if it either had a conclusive ending or pacifist wasn't 80% the exact same game. Besides, I think people should figure out what to do by themselves in a blind playthrough.
>>3880519I think the best way to play neutral would include killing dalv to listen to the organ demo and that would make me sadis it possible to genocide only certain areas like the dunes to skip el baliador? I would definitely want to get as much LOVE as the game would let me
>>3880611you can skip Decibat and Baliador by exausting the ruins/dunes kill count before reaching their respective spots.its grindy since you get less multi-monster groups in the earlier rooms, but if you wanna skip them for some reason you can
personally, best way to do neutral is just to kill all the main bosses, so the neutral final boss get special attack patterns

I'm kinda curious, where exactly do people think Mt.Ebott is located in the UT world? Assuming UT's earth generally resembles our own, with nations and continents being roughly as they are in our world.
>>3880932probably somewhere like the netherlands, like a small quiet european country with a fuck ton of flowers
>>3880932I don't think its meant to be located anywhere specific. It could be Japan just as easily as it could be Europe.
>>3880932Texas
>>3880932It's meant to be very vague. The culture implies a heavy American influence yet the span indicates it has to be Old World. It is probably somewhere in western Europe. I finally beat Mew Mew Blaster. Funnily enough, beating the final boss caused an audio bug as the charge up sound was constantly playing, even outside the minigame. Only exiting UTY ended it.
I just had an idea, an A/V cable darkner that's a snake with multiple tails. Its a pun on a cat of nine tails. It probably only has 5 tails, which could also make for some good flavor text dialogue. This would fit pretty well in Robotopia, or a fan take on TV world.

How big would Zenith Martlet be *ideally*?In-game she doesn't actually seem to be too much bigger than she is normally based on the transformation scene, but how big would (you) want her to be, for whatever reasons?
>>3882429I think that when asked one of the devs said that Zartlet would be around 10 feet tall
>>3882434One of the devs also said that they intended for Kanako to be the spoon amalgamate, so I don't take their word for anything outside of the game itself. And like I said, the transformation scene doesn't actually show Martlet becoming much bigger than her normal form, only her actual shape changing, so she can't be that much bigger than she is normally, unless you're implying she's nearly 10 feet tall by default.
>>3882437you can't easily represent such a height increase with battle sprites, just look at Asgore and Sans, Asgore looks only a head taller than Sans in the battle mode despite him being twice his size in the overworldAnyways, Zartlet being taller is a very common fanon and I do believe she would be around 7 to 10 feet in height
>>3882440>Asgore looks only a head taller than Sans in the battle mode despite him being twice his size in the overworldYeah, but with the transformation scene in UTY, we get a pretty direct comparison between Martlet before and after her transformation, which means we can compare her to herself directly, which is different than comparing two different characters. Based on this, we can pretty reasonably infer that her Zenith form isn't actually much larger than her normal self, other than proportionally.
>>3882440>>3882443>>3882429this is how big she is, confirmed by the artists>>3882410always funny to see people's reactions to this since this is more common than they realize

Just gonna repost it since it's a topic that relates to fangames.I think there's potential for Chujin's prejudice to be a little more complicated in DRY1. Less (justified)hatred at his whole species being sealed underground, more disdain based upon bad experiences combined with protective father instincts.Perhaps he's initially cold with regard to the new human, but mellows out over time(at least towards Cole) due to a combination of:>Cole being a child at the time>The fact that Cole is being raised by Martlet(along with whatever influence Starlo has)>His daughter getting along well with Cole. It's only as Cole and Kanako get further into their teens that the old prejudices start to resurface due to not wanting his daughter to get hurt."Human nature manifests" and whatnot

>>3883096Not that anon but maybe not right now since buttplug is being an asshole.
>>3883083I think about this a lot, though since I dont know much about DRY, its usually pretty divorced from context, but I think about chujin unironically pulling a "you're one of the good ones" and if clover had any respect for the guy, being a kid himself that would probably fuck with him pretty bad. Since chujin is a good person at heart, I imagine him eventually realizing what he's doing by treating him like that, and even if he still hates humans at large, feeling like shit over that
>>3883100what?
>>3883083>>3883102To me, Chujin always came off as paranoid but not unreasonably so. His whole "aiieeee you can't trust the humies" mindset has precedent in Undertale Yellow with the fallout of the Sealing War, and isn't exactly that uncommon of a view in the Underground. In fact, that attitude is reinforced by that time a human almost did kill his daughter and him being in no position to help her. If he's friends with or just knows who Martlet is, and if Cole has been growing up under Martlet's care around his daughter on the surface where none of that grisly warfare ever happened, I don't exactly see the motives he's operating off of especially if his disdain simmered down as the years went by. What I'm struggling to understand is how this integral part of Chujin's psyche makes him the man he is in the present, and how that ties into his role in the story. Surely, there's something different about him in a world where he never lost himself and his life by preparing for Round 2 of the race war.
>>3883103As in, don't make another thread on /v/ right now since that one asshole that hates fangames is being an asshole.
>>3883104I dont think this version of chujin is the kind of hateful that drives you to actively make mad science death machines to kill humans, so because the circumstances are changed to him being betrayed or having his lifes ambitions taken from him by a particularly shitty person, or perhaps someone he trusted greatly once, a toned down version where he's just racist instead of "kill all humans" is a reasonable adjustment. it also makes reconciliations eventually more feasible as he could be reminded of the good in people, specifically humans by someone like cole, and come face to face with his own prejudice
>>3883086>>3883092Oh no, but this does mostly relate to the DRY1 version of Chujin.

I'm not trying to complain for the sake of complaining, but this feels like its retreading old ground, you know? It's a new story with a new setting to play around with. I feel like it should be tied into something More, since from what I can tell his Homo(-Sapien)phobia is detached from the rest of the events of the game. Like, if it was related to the Dark World somehow I'd be more interested.
>>3883134That just means I get to look forward 2 ur demo
>>3883152Chujin is a major character in chapter 2 and his arc is likely about coming to accept Cole despite hating him due to his race. Its not really retreading old ground when Chujin was a dead character that didn't get to do anything in UTY.

>>3883152I think this may be the only "remember you're genocides" meme that I have ever found funny. I don't know what this says about me.
>>3883083>>3883104It would be a relatively boring reason but crime rates could be why. We know that there are monster criminals and police, but we never see any hardened, sociopathic thugs within monsterkind itself. If this is because of monster nature itself and they're genuinely harmless even by eastern asian standards, it's clear why they would be leery of humans considering what horrible things often make the news. If this is a world where segregation between humans and monsters is allowed, it would explain why there are monster-only towns. I don't think it's what Toby is going for, but it makes a scary amount of sense.
>>3883214Maybe Chujin came from a racist family and his experience of humans prior to Cole confirmed what his parents taught him.
>>3883083im still of the opinion that chujin's reasoning for why in DRY shouldnt be explicitly stated.its not a question with a good answer.you either turn him into an irrational baby thats holding onto a grudge over the smallest slight, or make him 100% justified in his hate and make it unreasonable for him to ever tolerate cole.
>>3883237NTA, but that's not a great way of handling it either, since Chujin's dislike of humanity and his reasons why were actually fairly important to UTY and the various events of the game, so having him retain that element of his personality with no real justification for it just doesn't really make any sense, especially when you compare that to a character like Undyne whose UT counterpart also hated humanity, but whose DR version seems perfectly amicable with humans.
>>3883237Its possible to hold irrational hatred while being justified in feeling that way. I wouldn't blame anyone whose been to prison full of the worst elements of the black race for being racist, nor would I blame a Chinese person who grew up in the 40s for hating the Japanese. The brain is a pattern recognition machine, and operates on emotion first and foremost. If you have enough bad experiences with a group, you will come to hate them and view them all in the same light, its only a matter of how many it takes to get you there.I agree it can be left to the player's imagination why Chujin hates humans, but he absolutely can have a valid reason for doing so without being right to do it.
>>3883239Undyne didn't really hate humanity. She just really loved monsters and was very enthusiastic about destroying anything that threatened them. You can see from her love of anime and her giant human sword that she actually likes humans when she's not fighting to save the monster race.
>>3883260She certainly doesn't seem to like humans too much in her various neutral endings. That aside, Undyne and Chujin are actually fairly similar in their feelings towards mankind, they just express these feelings with different intensities. These threads love to joke about Chujin being an absolute human racist, but in-game he seems to not really harbor those sorts of feelings towards them at all, instead being wary towards humans because of the damage they're capable of doing to monsterkind. He isn't some raving anti-human lunatic, he's more like Handplates! Gaster, where he's just generally standoffish and wary of humans because of the power gap and bad past experiences with them, but he doesn't outright despise them.Undyne is a similar story, not completely hating the human race (to start with), but generally hostile towards them largely due to the threat they pose to monsterkind, not out of personal animosity. That said, if Undyne doesn't harbor those sorts of feelings in the DR world, why exactly would Chujin, unless there was some specific incendiary reason for it? It just doesn't make much sense to take a character who held those opinions for fairly understandable reasons in the world of UT (and who used those feelings as fuel for his work, which was a major part of the story) and turn him into a generic racist with no real relevance to the story.
>>3883271Undyne is only against humanity because she wants monsters to be free and sees humans as an obstacle to that. She harbors no serious ill will towards humanity beyond frustration at them for being in the way. Chujin is terrified of humans and hates them because of it. He loses sleep over the fact that at any moment, a human could be out there, coming to hurt to his family, and he would be powerless to stop them. Now Undyne can come to hate them like Chujin does, but she lacks that personal trauma to do so during the events of the game, and only gains it after the death of Asgore. Chujin, by contrast already has that Integrity incident to speed along his hatred and fear of humans. I read Chujin as being a very obsessive and analytical man. He is absolutely the type that would read crime statistics and profile a whole race based on them, especially if he had serious negative experiences with them in the past. He could absolutely still become racist in the world of DR over completely mundane reasons, same as lot of IRL people.
>>3883275>I read Chujin as being a very obsessive and analytical man.Evidently not analytical enough to make anything that actually works properly, but sure.>He is absolutely the type that would read crime statistics and profile a whole race based on them, especially if he had serious negative experiences with them in the past. He could absolutely still become racist in the world of DR over completely mundane reasons, same as lot of IRL people. That seems far fetched, given how uncommon humans appear to be in the world of DR, as evidenced by the monsters in Hometown viewing Kris as a sort of inherent oddity, and those books written about humans you can see in the library. Not necessarily related, but a lot of early DR speculation was centered around the idea that DR takes place in a world where monsters won the human-monster war, and while I don't necessarily believe that to be the case, I feel like in a world that appears to be dominated primarily by monsters, or at least in population centers where that appears to be the case, fearing humans like they're boogiemen just doesn't make a whole lot of sense in that context. You wouldn't have crime statistics or anything like that for them, since there probably just wouldn't be enough of them to form any meaningful data for such a thing, and if Chujin really is as analytical as you believe him to be, he'd realize that. I could see him being wary of Cole due to a fear of the unknown, if humans really are something of a rarity in the world of DR, but I just think the sort of vitriolic hatred of humans as a race just doesn't make sense in this context.
>>3883271>>3883285nta, but at that point, I suppose one could do some of what was mentioned here >>3883083 make it more of a protective father coldness, rather than outright racism.
>>3883285>Evidently not analytical enough to make anything that actually works properlyHe's analytical, but also very self assured and prone to over estimating things and making false assumptions. Prime material to make racism out of.>That seems far fetched, given how uncommon humans appear to be in the world of DR, as evidenced by the monsters in Hometown viewing Kris as a sort of inherent oddity, and those books written about humans you can see in the library.Having one black kid in an all white town isn't unheard of irl either, nor is said kid being viewed as an oddity by his white neighbors unheard of. Yet racism still exists. Perhaps there are areas with lots of humans, and we simply don't see them in the game.Alternatively, maybe humans are rare, but have still managed to rack up statistics, making their per capita numbers very bad. Could be a 13/50 situation or a 2/40 situation. Or maybe he grew up near a human reservation and saw first hand how terrible they were. You don't see many American Indians IRL, but the reservations they live on are hotbeds of crime, drugs, and poverty. So people who live around Natives can be very weary of them.
>>3883291Chujin is racist because that's a Chujin trait. If he's not racist, then he's not Chujin, or at least not recognizable as Chujin by the fanbase, so the game needs to work towards a justification to make him racist, so he can have the character arc around overcoming it that he never got in UTY.Its just like how Gerson is still a wise old mentor with super powers, despite having lived a completely different life from the Gerson in Undertale. Toby wanted to do something with the character and those traits, so he just found a justification for them to exist in Deltarune.
>>3883308>Having one black kid in an all white town isn't unheard of irl either, nor is said kid being viewed as an oddity by his white neighbors unheard of. Yet racism still exists. True, but the fundamental contrast in DR is that it's potentially the case that humans simply don't exist in large amounts on the surface, whereas black people exist in normal contexts in our world, despite what Ray William Johnson might tell you.>Or maybe he grew up near a human reservation and saw first hand how terrible they were. That idea is very funny for a variety of reasons, but I don't think such a thing would be viable in the DR world simply because of how humans seem to operate compared to monsters, unless you're proposing monsters keep humans in a Nine Sols style artificial habitat disguised as a normal environment.
>>3883317>That idea is very funny for a variety of reasons, but I don't think such a thing would be viable in the DR world simply because of how humans seem to operate compared to monsters, unless you're proposing monsters keep humans in a Nine Sols style artificial habitat disguised as a normal environment. You're making a lot of assumptions and then treating them as fact. All we know for certain is that there are no humans in Hometown aside from Kris, and that human and monster biology are different enough that monsters need books to know how to care for a human. (though parenting books exist irl too, and I'm sure there is such a thing as "how to care for a black child" somewhere in the world)For all we know humans could be more common than monsters and Hometown is simply a remote ethnic enclave.
>>3883313>Chujin is racist because that's a Chujin trait. If he's not racist, then he's not Chujin, or at least not recognizable as Chujin by the fanbaseI don't know, I see Chujin more for his disgruntledness towards people in power who don't see things his way, his willingness and desire to try and create solutions to problems, and his tendency to be dismissed by those above him.I could pretty easily see a version of him in a DR setting where he's trying to work with the local government or something to try and solve a problem, only for his solution (viable or otherwise) to be dismissed by those who actually have the authority to address the problem, leading to Chujin becoming something of a social pariah, or generally mocked by the public for his perceived incompetence.Hey, a big theme of DR seems to center around the idea of people somehow becoming outcasted from their peers, maybe you could tie this all into Chujin getting a shadow crystal or something, like a parallel to whatever's going on with Asgore in normal DR.I mean come on, that's at least a bit better than his entire story revolving around him being racist for no reason, right?
>>3883323>I mean come on, that's at least a bit better than his entire story revolving around him being racist for no reason, right? Its not "no reason", he would be given a reason. And it wouldn't just be racism, that would just be part of the conflict between him, Cole, and Kanako. The rest of it being him as a over protective father, him having an ego which, while not recognized in the light world, is greatly stoked in the dark world, and of course the ongoing threat of the dark world and his relation to it.I can see what you are going for, and it could have potential, but its very obviously different from what DRY1 is going for. Maybe you should consider writing it out as a fic, or making your own fangame.
>>3883329>And it wouldn't just be racism, that would just be part of the conflict between him, Cole, and Kanako. The rest of it being him as a over protective father, him having an ego which, while not recognized in the light world, is greatly stoked in the dark world, and of course the ongoing threat of the dark world and his relation to it.See, the overprotectiveness thing I understand, that's a much more central part of his character, being the core reason why he did most of the things he did after all, but I just feel like the racism element is out of place in the world of DR, given that pretty much none of the characters from UT who were shown to harbor those sorts of feelings towards humans still have them in the DR versions, so it just feels like mild flanderization to retain that for Chujin's character. There are other, more interesting parts of Chujin's character from UTY that you could use for a DRY story, so it just feels a bit lame to use that aspect specifically, especially since you have to invent an entirely new context for why he'd be like that in DRY. Basically, I just think it's a little forced.>Maybe you should consider writing it out as a fic, or making your own fangame.Nah, that's not really my bag.
>>3883331>I just feel like the racism element is out of place in the world of DR, given that pretty much none of the characters from UT who were shown to harbor those sorts of feelings towards humans still have them in the DR versionsTo me, that's what makes it compelling. Its so out of place that it becomes interesting. Why is Chujin racist, even in a world where he seemingly has no reason to be? It makes me want to play more so I can find out. And of course it facilitates relationship drama, gives Chujin a chance to do something he never got the chance to do in UTY, makes for good jokes, and adds some much needed depth to the Deltarune world. I think the original DR didn't explore enough the relations between humans and monsters as races, so I'm all for exploring it properly.
>>3883337I'm gonna assume you aren't the same guy from earlier in the thread who said that it'd be better to not explain Chujin's reasons for being racist, since I'm pretty sure that was the guy I was initially arguing with.I feel like the biggest problem with having Chujin be racist towards humans in DRY is the reason. In UT, Chujin has reasons for the feelings he has towards mankind, but in the context of UT, they're actually fairly justified, given that the human race is responsible for monsterkind's imprisonment, and a human was responsible for killing several monsters out in Snowdin, so Chujin has a pretty reasonable excuse to be wary of humans, and to desire to create something to keep his family and his people safe.In DR, without a human-monster war, there really is no justifiable reason he could have to feel that same way towards the entire human race, and swapping that out for personal animosity towards Cole feels extra forced, because what the hell could've possibly happened that would make him despise humans like that, when no one else does? It can't be some major world shattering event, because there'd have to be other signs of something like that outside of just Chujin's own personal opinions, and it can't be something totally inconsequential either because then that's just fucking stupid. The most important part about Chujin's feelings in UTY is that they weren't actually unreasonable given the circumstances in which he existed, but taken outside of those circumstances, there's just no way to write him with those same feelings (or more extreme feelings, as DRY seems to depict) without putting him objectively in the wrong, which goes against his character in a really bad way, because there's no actual conflict there if he's just flat-out wrong. It's just making him racist for the sake of forced conflict when there are better avenues that could be done from, and it feels like a serious misreading of the character.
Im searching for a specific utdr fangame, iirc, its this one fangame where you play as a highschool girl with some kind of condition or illness that sometimes makes her go insane and kill everyone cus of stress, and at the start of the game, she just runs away from school after a fight with a bully and enters the forest? Ofc, you dont have a FIGHT button, but i think if you raise your TP to max your character starts attacking or something like that
Playing deltarune yellow rn, so far, i've got a few things to say, but first of all, im liking what im seeing, it has the vibe of an old 2016 ut fangame, which is fitting because uty's demo originated all the way back in 2015 or 2016, plus i like it better anyways, too many fangames nowadays try to make their shit be all "LOOK GUYS 4K HD GRAPHICS WITH A GAZILLION ULTRA DETAILED SMOOTH SPRITES FOR UNIMPORTANT SHIT LIKE WALKING DIAGONALLY OR A BILLION OVERWORLD SPRITE CHANGES FOR EVERY SINGLE LINE IN THE FUCKING GAME WITH SHADING AND LIGHTING AND 3D SHIT AND ALSO WE'RE REMAKING AND REWRITING THE ENTIRE SHIT EVERY 5 SECONDS WE'RE TOTALLY FINISHING THIS SHIT AND NOT CANCELLING IT IN 5 MONTHS" when sometimes, something more basic ends up having more charm>first of all, why arent the alt. controls (ctrl, shift and enter) not there? And why was C's skip text function moved to the space key?>the fight icon should be changed to a pistol imo, uty replaced the FIGHT's knife with a gun, so... yknow>i was wondering if that one UTY thing where you can get different enemy reactions to your ACTs if you ACT after you attack them until theyre nearly dead (easier with the non lethal shot thing btw), so i attacked the pencil face guy (the eraser head guy didnt react to me beating up that guy until they ran away unlike how uty enemies are supposed to react when you kill them btw) and then left eraserhead at 1 hp to see if he told me to fuck off by choosing ANY of the ACTs and unfortunately he reacts the same way as when i ACTed before kicking their asses>also so yellow and so pink lmao
>>3883390So far, im seeing a lot of replayability potential here:>No mercy neutral run where i just kick everyone's asses by FIGHTing and sometimes choose an asshole ACT or two for the lols (my first playthrough btw, im also choosing the mean dialogue options and ill try to not rescue the tangled up npc in my way)>capture every enemy neutral run>potential weird run where you fucking kill everybody with the can of coke?>pacishitter moral guru run where i actually act like the justice fueled hero larper that cole prob isIts gonna be a long fun-filled journey, especially with all these battles, but i WILL do it, and i WILL enjoy it (hopefully)
I go on a small trip and suddenly there are a lot of fangame updates after weeks of droughtjustice resolves (the UTY mod where kanako joins clover in snowdin) uploaded walking sadie sprites meaning she will have a bigger roleUT promise showed some new gameplay stuff https://gamejolt.com/p/november-devlog-just-finished-a-minigame-proceeding-as-usual-b828c3kcundertale mint (one of the green takes) was cancelled because the creator was being harassed https://gamejolt.com/p/cancelation-announcement-3b3xtmub
>>3883390>>3883398Aww, i thought there wouldve been a little cool interaction if you tried to make kanako step on top of the lowered spikes and then made cole step off the button in an attempt to impale kanako, sort of like how in deltarune noelle reacts to kris stepping off the button right when she's passing through the turned off electric barrier thingy
>>3883356DRY1anon, any comment on this whole discussion? Personally I think racist chujin is pretty funny, but I do agree that context-wise in deltarune it doesn't make much sense.
>>3883480I believe I've (the person you (you)'d) have already conversed with one of the DRY anons regarding this matter, in a previous thread. I brought up the topic of The Monarch's reasons for hating Rusty Venture in that thread, so that might make it easier to find if you feel like digging through the archives for it.
>>3883214>>3883237That's even lamer than the whole Getting Trapped and Betrayed by My Human Colleague bit. A lot of Undertale and Undertale Yellow's cast is sympathetic despite the gravity of their flaws. This however makes Chujin look like a petty twat at best and an outright bully at worst.>>3883313But Chujin is more than just racist. I think the threads play it up for a joke and mistook it being the core of his character. I don't know how a fangame character got flanderized like this. He didn't *want* to have Integrity killed despite their violence and the whole head-asplodey thing happened because he's a hardware savant with mediocre software skills. He felt *bad* for what was Monsterkind's existential enemy. There's a conscience here. And that's in UTY. There's even less of a reason why those anti-human feelings are not just retained in DRY, but exaggerated and focused on Cole because I've not seen him talk shit about Melody once despite being such a hellion herself. While the punchline of a crotchety stubborn geezer getting in the way of teenage romance is mildly amusing, that's just it. Why should I take this guy seriously?
>>3883491>this however makes Chujin look like a petty twat at best and an outright bully at worst.I don't know anon>Trusts human friend more than anyone else in his life>Human friend betrays him, tears down his dreams, and ruins his life>Goes back to his parents out of desperation>"We warned you about the humans, son">20 years later, some human is dating his daughterThis frames his dislike of Cole not as him seeking petty revenge against all humans, but as him being terrified that what happened to him is going to happen to Kanako. Chujin is trying to protect Kanako from his fate, not trying to hurt Cole because it makes him feel better.>But Chujin is more than just racistOf course, but it is still a part of him, one that would be interesting to explore, one that we barely got to explore in UTY. If we give him a similar reason to be racist here (past trauma involving humans) then we can see how he would act if he weren't dead and didn't have a war to justify killing them on sight.
>>3883398There's also an actual alternative route, which I haven't tried yet. It's not the same as a weird route.>>3883399>Discord dramaCreators really should avoid that thing like the plague, or just go "I don't care" if attacked for an off-color joke. I'm willing to bet it wasn't actually that bad, just something on the "wrong" side of the political spectrum.>>3883491>This however makes Chujin look like a petty twat at best and an outright bully at worst.I disagree. The fact that Chujin is willing to have Cole over for dinner, as well as wander with Kanako unchaperoned, shows that the speciesism isn't his core defining feature. He may not like the fact that a human is his daughter's best friend, but it highlights the respect he has for Cole. At worst, he won't adopt Cole to save him from CPS if Martlet loses custody, but adopting anyone is a tall order especially since the Ketsukanes don't seem wealthy in DRY1.Also I stand by monsters being at least somewhat justified in distrusting humans if the relative lack of violence is anything to go by. We never see monsters deliberately hurt others Muffet and dictator Mettaton in original UT are implied but we don't know exactly what's going on and the most they have to worry about is petty crime. A lot of this could be explained away as "it's a lighthearted game and you're intended to seek a good ending for the characters" but we should presume DR's universe as analogous to the real world until proven different. If you're a monster living in a monster-only town, and you turn on the news to a human network and see multiple atrocities that are shockingly common, wouldn't you go "Thank God those sorts of people aren't around here"? In DRY1 itself, the one time we see anybody be attacked in the light world was because Integrity, a human, flipped out. Cole is "one of the good ones" indeed.
>>3883537>Chujin is trying to protect Kanako from his fate, not trying to hurt Cole because it makes him feel betterI like this, makes the protective father bit quite reasonable
>>3883547See, the idea with Chujin's racism is that he's scared of humans. That's he hates and distrusts them. Every action he takes against is done with the idea that they're out to get him and his family, and that he needs to protect his family from them.
>>3883537Alright, so its less about a grudge and moreso a fear. I'm still trying to connect the dots of how what happened to him led to him thinking "why would humans do this to me" rather than "why would they (unnamed individual) do this to me" and extending that same paranoia to his daughter. He's a smart guy, there had to have been something else involved to jump to that conclusion. It'd have to be a perceived characteristic that Chujin would erroneously apply to all humans on the basis of their species, and one that Cole defies. >>3883543>but we should presume DR's universe as analogous to the real world until proven different.I personally believe that its backwards, considering how fantastical and bizarre Deltarune is compared to our world even when excluding Dark World shenanigans. Hometown feels less like a small town and more of a bizarre pocket dimension built in a facsimile of a small town, but I digress.>If you're a monster living in a monster-only town, and you turn on the news to a human network and see multiple atrocities that are shockingly common, wouldn't you go "Thank God those sorts of people aren't around here"? Probably, but there isn't much in DRY to support the notion that humans have a negative reputation of being car-jacking, throat-slashing, face-bashing, money-snatching, mall-ransacking sons-of-bitches. There's Integrity being a twat, but its treated as her being the twat she is rather than being a crime of her species. Dalv's comment reads as ignorance at worst, which is present in Deltarune. If the idea was "Humans are considered violent minorities" then there needs to be more in the game to suggest that view.
>>3883402Question, how do i get the schizo boss battle? I got some weird bell and even checked everywhere by backtracking, and yet theres nothing
>>3883608>It'd have to be a perceived characteristic that Chujin would erroneously apply to all humans on the basis of their species, and one that Cole defies. That they're thieves, liars, and traitors. He could find plenty of crime statistics to back that up once he started looking.

>>3883669Cole's alignment rn is chaotic, apparently? What are all the available alignments?
>>3883669note that day 2 is still very incomplete and some stuff will change in the next update (though it shouldn't be save file breaking)>>3883673that's just a way to know if you've fought more or spared more
Welp, i've reached the end of the demo, what a cool fangame, honestly, theres potential for more interactivity (see >>3883402 as an example), plus, there arent that many reactions to my violence in day 2? axis doesnt mention anything about having a dent on his head from the fight we had earlier nor does he question why are we essentially beating his own neighbours up, not even the tough guy on the tram says anything about us coming through and beating all of his goons up, either way, i cant wait to see how pissed off the warden guy will get when he finds out we arent actually capturing anybody and just choosing to beat em up! Btw, i think there should be more original, like why did the right-hand man of the first chapter's boss have k round's theme lmao>>3883685Ohh ok i see i see
>>3883630thats pretty funny actually>gets wronged once (1)>becomes incredibly racist
>>3883711
>>3883711If you combined that with his parents being racist and humans actually having higher crime statistics than monsters (you could even have Chujin bring up monsters being naturally kinder than humans as an explanation if you wanted to). So he spent his whole life denying it and wanting to believe people are better, only for the one he trusts most to prove everything his parents said right.
>>3883688>why did the right-hand man of the first chapter's boss have k round's theme lmaomost of the songs are placeholders, there are a few unique tracks but it is still a WIP
I hope that DRY implies or states that melody was expelled from other schools and/or had to move away multiple times so that a theorical Deltarune BLUE fangame could still happen canonically within the deltarune yellow continuity>>3883737I see>>3883688>there should be more original,Original tracks* how did i fuck that up when writing lmao
>>3883738>a theorical Deltarune BLUE fangame could still happen canonically within the deltarune yellow continuityMylo doesn't really look like any of the protags from other blue fangames
I just finished the current release of DRY1 and I have to say, I really do like it. Moreso than Deltarune, it feels like a race against the Outlaw to close fountains as he or she creates new ones, since there are three of them to close right off the bat. We can rule out Chujin being the outlaw, but so far there aren't many clues as to who it could possibly be I see Melody being the most likely.Art direction: Robotopia felt like a mishmash of Cyber City and Steamworks, and while it's not a bad aesthetic it feels like a placeholder particularly with the black background. Upstairs is a nice aesthetic upgrade and offers a good contrast with a warmer pallet compared to Robotopia. We are treated to not one but two beautiful cinematic shots. I didn't mind the music in Chapter 1, but Chapter 2 is an upgrade and I appreciate the remixes we get.Gameplay: Easily the strongest part of the fangame. The Axis fight is pretty good, and I like his alarm taunt you use to shield the other party members. Other enemies are fun and unique. The fight against Toster is a great spin on the fighting game theme from Deltarune and is decently challenging. The puzzles are well-designed and engaging. I would've liked more opportunities to access storage, since without tough regular fights I spent half the chapter unable to pick up chests.Characters: Both Axis and Kanako are likeable and fun. Kanako is already the best-written character in the whole game even if she's not complex. I like so many others relish the chemistry she has with Cole, who is more of a blank slate but has his moments. Her reaction to mouth-to-mouth was hilarious, and I'm intrigued by why accessing the Archives has her so nervous. I like all the supporting characters as well.Bugs: The metal kanabo is unusable; it appears in regular items, and using it causes it to disappear with no effect.
>>3883738What I want to know is why Melody is in the town to begin with. Kris and Cole were each adopted by monsters which is why they're the only humans in their respective towns, but we know nothing about Melody's parents or how she ended up there. If she was expelled from other schools, it would be weird to put her in a sleepy monster town where she could only cause trouble.I would like to see a Deltarune Blue fangame theoretically, but there are only so many people within this tiny community that have the time, connections and know-how to make a game. It's a miracle that we have what we have.

Gee Bill, how come Mom let you have TWO threads?Anyway, here's my pitch for a dark comedy mystery fanfic I plan to write, loosely based on DRY1's setting:>town is much larger (actual American small town size), with a large number of both monsters and humans>Cole is twenty and tries to make his way through life by setting up a PI>He owns and proudly open carries a revolver, but is averse to violence>Purple soul/integrity/Melody becomes a reluctant partner in solving crime>Cole is motivated to get to the bottom of who bought the lien on Martlet's house and is now threatening her eviction>The two end up way over their heads uncovering a nefarious crime syndicate>Starlo is the sheriff, but doesn't help/interferes with their efforts due to being blackmailed and having his family threatened>Chujin has gone missing, presumably foxnapped>Ceroba bought and operates a booming strip club which becomes a recurring location; she often helps Cole out>Kanako has been sent off to college, mainly for her own protection, but shows up laterMy original version had Kris as Cole's partner, because I was going for the classic action male duo featured in shows like I Spy and The Persuaders. Since this was so contrived I got pushback and purple soul was suggested to take his place. However, if Cole's partner is female it might make more sense to have her be Kanako because their chemistry is so good, though Ceroba wants her to be away from everything. The advantage of purple soul is that she is a blank slate other than a predilection towards violence, which might make the story more interesting depending on how I write her. Or, I could fully embrace the Castle of Vapor influence and make Cole work solo, but talking to himself so much feels out-of-character and I don't want him to be a boring silent protagonist in a noir story.
>>3883763We can give them the benefit of doubt, not everybody wears the same clothes all the time, and you could always claim "melody is older and taller than DRY melody because this deltarune blue take takes place after deltarune yellow timeline wise"
>>3883782Imo, maybe melody was sent to a monster town because of the whole "monster souls are made out of compassion and love", this works with the "melody moved away/was expelled from other schools" interpretation because they would think that maybe melody had better chances of being fixed or improved within a peaceful town filled with monsters, after all, if the whole "monsters are kinder than humans" shit was widespread in DR's universe, melody being sent to a monster town would make sense
>>3883778>Bugs: The metal kanabo is unusable; it appears in regular items, and using it causes it to disappear with no effect.Me too, there should be a cheat code or something to receive that weapon for free because ffs i did not spend all of cole's money just to get nothing in return!

>>3884002I blame Toby for not showing how Asgore was like when he declared war. Maybe he was so mad Toriel couldn't reason with him so she was forced to leave. It's one of those things people can interpret more positively or negative depending on your bias.
>>3884001deltarune thread shitter pretending to be a torielfag to spite the yellowfags in his head
>>3884015Genuinely take your meds.
>>3883979I wonder if there would be less seethe if Toriel fucked Kris (which would never happen)
>>3884005There’s multiple Cerobafags like this
>>3884082I am talking about the lowercase guy, but I didn't know the schizophrenia was spread. My condolences.
>>3884008Not to mention that if you analyze the story from toriel's pov, you'll realize that toriel had no idea that asgore regretted declaring war to the point of suicide, and that the last time she sees him after leaving him was when he was about to fight frisk, so ofc she wouldnt have a good impression of him, i always believed she'd be willing to talk things out if she learnt about what asgore was feeling after all the time they spent separated, but because the player only gets to see asgore's good side ingame, the fandom ends up being like "omg why is toriel picking on an innocent sad man??" because they have a subconscious knowledge bias that made them think that toriel knew asgore was ultra depressed even through she was locked in the ruins for a long time
>>3884078Momcest is too controversial, but bet your ass if it was generic human male there would be endless threads called Toby based and crazy.
I wonder what set off the avatartranny this time.
>>3884132Good analysis, anon. Nice to see some people still understand Undertale. I think the problem is that Toriel is very aggressive to Asgore and nobody ends up defending him, not even Undyne, so people see him as an underdog and rise up to defend him.
>>3884166>>3884016
>>3884166probably got shit on in a deltarune thread again and had to take it out on one of his boogeymen (robafags and anything related to yellow)
>>3884176There's literally nothing happening in a Deltarune thread. You just sound schizophrenic because people discussed a topic you don't like.
Im gonna do a deltarune yellow weird run where i spam hard swing with kanako, any tips?
>>3884221Hey is it alright if i rough the enemies up a bit with cole? It takes an eternity to kill ONE enemy with kanako's hard swing only and unlike deltarune you dont get stronger from simply ending a battle by kicking the enemy's ass, so itll take an eternity before kanako's hard swing becomes decent
>>3884132Do you think Toby had a major experience regarding divorce, maybe regarding one of his friends? It's interesting that he made it a major plot detail not once but twice, and in a fairly compelling manner too.>>3884221>>3884230I haven't tried it but I don't think it works the same as with Noelle in Deltarune.>>3884166>>3884176>>3884183>tfw we could've had another argument over racism this whole time instead of whatever this is
>>3884244>whatever this isIt's called Toriel induced schizophrenia, my friend. I actually don't know if Toby experienced divorce or not. Maybe he just used that plot point for angst, after all in Undertale he has Alphys explicitly hope the two of them get together again.
>>3884244Like toby fox's parents divorced or something? It would explain the high amount of divorce themes in utdr at least
>>3884244Ok then how does the weird route in DRY work?
I'm personally not satisfied with the direction of DRY but all I can do about it is write down bullet points and maldI'm such a useless fucking chud
>>3884082Cerobafags are fucking disgusting. Thank goodness Toriel is actually a canon character rather than the character trannies love.
>>3884261afaik you have to intentionally almost lose a lot and pick the wrong decisionsKanako will freak out and start desperately fighting for survival. That's all I know from these threads.>>3884267You're lucky to be one of the few who's both target audience and can communicate with the dev. Even if your criticism is at odds with the artistic direction of DRY1, it might influence DRY2, which is also in production.>>3884269>tranniesI think it's more to do with Ceroba being a more conventional furry design, therefore attracting more stereotypical furries. There's overlap however.
>>3884273>I think it's more to do with Ceroba being a more conventional furry designIt's crazy how many things your character can get away with in the fandom if its attractive enough, I always say that if Ceroba looked like a shitty monster like Woshua or Vegetoid, then way less people would defend her
I've brought the topic up before, but I'll do it again since people were talking about Toriel and Asgore earlier.I'm still genuinely curious what Toriel thinks about Asgore at the end of the main neutral route. Like, she (presumably) wouldn't know about Frisk's ability to load after death, so from her perspective, a completely normal human child defeated Asgore, an extremely powerful boss monster, in combat, and left the underground. Regardless of her previously held opinions on Asgore, she'd have to know that he basically wasn't really trying to kill Frisk by that point, right? How would that change how she sees him, that he couldn't bring himself to kill a child, despite being so close to achieving his goal?
>>3884244I think it was more of a genuine discussion of DRY1 Chujin's distrust/dislike of humans and how it could be better worked into his character with the Sealing War not being a thing, rather than an argument.
>>3884287i like the theory one anon suggested where a human screwed chujin out of a sweet career and is stuck repairing appliances with what would probably be an advanced engineering degree but given chujin was only an ok engineer during his time at the steamworks it's up in air
Idk if i did something wrong, so like, i heard that kanako's GUTS counter is related to the weird run, and that i needed to raise it from beating enemies up, but i keep fighting and kanako's guts counter wont reach 2, ffs, how many do i have to beat upppp, idk if her confidence is meant to be at 66, so did i fuck up somewhere or
wait does DRY actually have a weird route (again) now?
>>3884322it's slightly different, moreso just pushing kanako to freak out instead of convincing her to kill peoplepennilton still gets beat to a pulp which is funny
>>3884292>chujin was only an ok engineer during his time at the steamworksCs get degrees, maybe he barely got through college. UTY Chujin was selectively brilliant, able to do things not even Alphys achieved, just with consequences that ultimately ruined his career and later his life. Maybe DRY Chujin hit a genius idea, one solid eureka moment, but didn't have the skills to fully realize it and got taken advantage of when he signed a contract to have a team cover his weaknesses.
>>3884324nice. we're back
>>3884338i like that idea
>>3884338>>3884292I still imagine DRY Chujin as being Walter White without the cancer (or meth). He's a genius who had a million dollar idea, but it got away from him, so he's still spiteful about it decades later while working a 9 to 5 that he views as beneath him.
>>3884347>CEROBA WHERE IS THE MONEY!?>.....I gave it to Starlo!
>>3884349While Ceroba certainly is as stupid as Skyler, her actions have shown that she's way too loyal for her own good. She'd go all in on the druglord life style and stoke his ego even more.
>>3884287A couple of threads ago we had an argument about racism that verged into /pol/ territory, and we decided to let it rest since neither side was going to be convinced. With Chujin's motivations in the air and people making claims about what "most racists believe" I wanted to talk about multiple reasons that make people racist, but I decided against it so as to not cause another brouhaha.Anyway in Undertale the main incentive for anti-human sentiment is an "us-vs-them" antagonism which doesn't exist in Deltarune. There are other reasons that can exist, such as personal grievances or a legitimate belief that some negative stereotypes are true. In the context of Deltarune's universe I think humans are naturally more violent than monsters which leads to the latter practicing segregation.>>3884292>>3884338Maybe Chujin had a brilliant idea in college which was copied and stolen by a human classmate. It's similar to the idea that Zuckerberg stole the idea for Facebook from the Winklevoss brothers. It's both compelling and explains why Chujin is so resentful given that he's stuck barely scraping by in a small town.
So i downloaded that one deltarune kristal engine thing but i genuinely cannot find any good interesting kristal mods to download, do any of you know any good kristal engine mods?
>>3884369I think the problem is literally all of them are still in development aside from 1 fight demos, everyone's busy learning lua and such
>>3884373I thought everybody became experienced in lua from CYF/unitale and CYK (deltarune version of unitale/cyf), wtf happened
>>3884166>>3884176Huh, what do you know.
>>3884391unitale ran on lua? I always thought it was undertales battle engine in unity
>>3884287My biggest gripe with it is that logically, Chujin's ire should just be focused on Cole, seeing how he's the only relevant human (so far Melody is an antisocial stooge with no connections to anyone) in the setting and Chujin's racism only poses as a problem for the relationship between Kanako and Clover (and surprisingly has zero friction with his wife over it). There seems to be zero internal conflict with Cole regarding his human heritage either. The racism subplot feels more like a meme than a narrative device. I'm not sure how seriously I'd be expected to take Chujin ranting about how humans are responsible for 50% of crime yet contribute 13% to the country's population to his robotic subordinates during the dreamspace field trip to Cybertron: Yellow Edition
>>3884433on a semi related note i remember watching a playthough of DRY1 and the most replayed moment was the dinner scene
>>3884349Starlo would be Hank for sure actuallySans or even Toriel can play as Ted
>>3884269The number of these types I’ve seen commission the grossest shit of her. Funny that I’m saying this here, but none of the drawanons here come close to the degeneracy of some Twitterfags. Yet, at the same time, they’ll get mad over aged up Kanako. I’m not into Kanako, but I don’t get the hypocrisy

>>3884441https://youtu.be/PIenC7euPActhis but with starlo and chujin would be funny
>>3884409No? I've messed around with unitale mods and i know for sure that their mods use lua, i learnt how to mess around with em so i CAN change an unitale mod's dialogue, stats, LV, sprites, etc., but i will never be able to figure out how to create a new attack pattern or how to mod in an extra dialogue box pop up to make the battles longer

>>3884615who's that guy next to axis supposed to be
>>3884628That's Sub-Zero.
>>3884632oh fuck yeah I didn't know hardtale was chill like that
>>3884615So did Axis hit the gym between the second and third row, or is that a different robot?
>>3884639According to the creator, that's some kind of alternate form for Axis. Also, that thing standing next to Sub-Zero is apparently what Kanako turns into when she takes the serum.I know basically nothing else about this seemingly completely deranged AU, but it is fascinating to me.
>>3884642Wait, that actually is sub zero? Also zenith Kanako sexo
>>3884644Yes, that's actually just Sub-Zero. It's not something inspired by Sub-Zero, it's not a guy who looks like Sub-Zero, it's Sub-Zero.Like I said, this AU is deranged.
>>3884644To be clear, Sub-Zero is the integrity soul in this AU.I don't know which Sub-Zero this is supposed to be, but it'd be insanely funny if it was Bi Han, because if there's one word I'd use to describe Bi Han, it's "integrity".
>>3884433I frankly agree
>>3884615Sub Zero just being there is so fucking stupid, but it has the potential of being so stupid that it becomes awesome

Finally decided to check Yellow out and HOLY FUCK WHY DOES EVERY SINGLE NPC SHIT OUT SEVERAL PARAGRAPHS OF TEXT IN MY GENERAL DIRECTIONOST's decent however
>>3884863>HOLY FUCK WHY DOES EVERY SINGLE NPC SHIT OUT SEVERAL PARAGRAPHS OF TEXT IN MY GENERAL DIRECTIONBecause its an Undertale game
>>3884801fuck I need to read mk lore
>>3884919I haven't read shit, I just remember him dying 3 separate times, and getting his ass kicked by cyborgs on multiple separate occasions in the games.
>>3884919>>3884922I only know his story from MK9 but basically there are two Sub Zeroes, one is Bi Han the original Sub Zero who is a massive jobber, he got killed in his second fight, then came back as Noob Saibot jobbed even harder and was killed once again this time by Kuai Liang, who is the second Sub Zero, this guy won most of his fights but jobbed to a bunch of generic cyborgs and got turned into a cyborg himself (he killed Bi Han while in this form)
>>3884940Both Sub Zeroes jobbed a bunch in MK Annihilation as well, and I think they've killed him again since MK 9.
>>3884940Everything you said is true in the original timeline except Kuai Liang was one of the few ninjas who escaped the cyber initiative. His friend Smoke got cyber'd instead, and Raiden receiving a vision of this happening and changing history is why Sub-Zero got cyber'd in MK9Also Noob and Smoke team up for a bit, they're even a tag team in Deception (every other character has multiple stances but Noob and Smoke are one character who swap between each other)
>>3884951Bi Han/Noob Saibot came back in MK11 and jobbed in his only 4 fights
>>3884531The real way to make a morally ambiguous character without getting the fandom biased depending on looks is if they look like an actual man, that way, you'll get accurate answers to your undertale fangame character, just dont make a twink or bara-bait or else the fandom will loop back to defending them
>>3884615I think the author may be into buff men,, many of these guys look pretty similar to their og undertale yellow counterparts then you got 4 ultra bara men (ed even has bdsm gear lmao)
>>3884646Tbh, sub-zero in an uty au could work in a serious way if it was simply starlo larping as sub-zero instead, like, maybe hardtale yellow starlo-subzero just creates le epicerino mortal kombat tournament with fatalities allowed (nobody actually does one) and invites clover in, with it being basically a boss rush-type area with breaks inbetween battles to allow for lore moments
>>3884967Isn't there a cowboy in Mortal Kombat now?
>>3882391>>3882395From what ive seen the game looks pretty damn promising and interesting until the very end, that is when it devolves into fucking schizo nonsense and super mario bros for some reasonsee for yourself if you're curious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-ba5rFoBh0Honestly I was so exited and then disappointed, cause ive wanted to see anything undertale/delatrune related with the Halloween Hack for years that isnt just a playlist of songs

>>3884975Self explanatory, you're meant to put on something like a podcast or porn while playing those slowass rpg maker games, just search ut fangames of another engine instead
>>3884981I played another RPG Maker game recently that had pretty snappy battles, so it really baffles me how slow this one is
>>3884615>>3884969Erron Black is the cowboy character, and Starlo actually looks to be wearing Erron's clothes in that image
>>3884879>Because its an Undertale gameWrong, background NPCs definitely do not talk this much in either UT or DR
>>3885076a few joke npcs talk a lot, but they are the exception rather than the rule. not that there's much of a rule to be honest
>>3884774I think the AU creator likes Sub-Zero too much to flat out kill him for whatever story they're telling with this, I think he might live somehow.
>>3885142fair point
>>3885145Okay, they posted a bunch of doodles on twitter, one of which being Sub-Zero strapped to a table yelling at someone who's holding a syringe over him, so I guess they got the resources needed for the serum from him without killing him somehow. At this point the most ridiculous part of this AU is that it expects us to believe any monster could handle Sub-Zero when the average toddler is apparently a cataclysmic threat to monsterkind, but whatever.
>>3885395>Sub Zero jobs so hard he's less threatening than a toddlerseems right to me
>>3885395so that's how Noelle learned snowgrave
>>3885400Are you implying that Carol raped Sub Zero?
>>3885424meds and egg nog i was just making the connection that they both do ice stuff
>>3885439>Strapped to a table, someone holding a syringe over him>"so that's where Noelle got (ice power) from"Next you'll tell me deflowering has nothing to do with rape either.
>>3885440the post was confirming that sub-zero was alive and in the underground, i was making a joke that sub-zero taught undertale's incarnation of noelle snowgrave

Partners Chapter 13, final draft, basically: https://rentry.co/ecu5fb3pI say "basically" because the anniversary is just three days away and I want to release this on the day-of. Should have enough time for tweaks though. I actually didn't vault this to release on the anniversary, it just shook out that way. I hope it was worth the wait. As always, the full work is on Ao3 under the name Cobalt_Core.An update on WIPs: I've been thinking of retiring them. I see that people still read them, which makes me happy, but I've been wondering if it hurts the final chapter by chopping up the material. Also, first time using Rentry, so if anything is fucked up just let me know. An anon suggested it to me and I liked the website, so I'm giving it a shot. I actually spent two hours today figuring out a way to automatically append and prepend asterisks to italicized sections in LibreOffice, to make the formatting process easier. Turns out, the base Find and Replace is fucking BUGGED of all things, and I had to download an extension that upgrades/replaces it. LibreOffice is lucky that I hate Microsoft so much, or I'd have switched to Word long ago.

>>3886825>What do you mean exactly?Basically just really intense imagery or horror concepts involving the characters. The main thing this concern came from was a post a while back where some anon suggested BunBun getting stroggified (by Sadie) and turned into a body horror cyborg monster, and Kanako and Cole were forced to kill him.DRYanon seriously entertained the idea (or at least it sounded like he did) until a bunch of anons told him that was a very bad idea to actually put in the game.
>>3886864Why BunBun of all characters? There really is no point to adding Sid from Toy Story unless if it's plot relevant, and although Sadie actually being a sadist is a funny play on words it doesn't fit her character at all with what we know so far. Also, it goes against the themes of Deltarune and Toy Story as well. The tortured toys end up friendly. Also while fanworks have some leeway to be darker than the original and often are expected to be just that, there's a limit of how far you want to go and a finesse to it. Undertale Yellow is darker on average than the game it's based on, but it's not something you really think about until you look back on the plot. Unless if that's the point of the fanwork, if a plot detail makes you go, "Wow that suddenly took a dark and edgy turn" then you generally want to reconsider it.
>>3886871That was what most anons said. Even the guy who suggested it later agreed that would be way too edgy for the game it would've been in.
>>3886864>>3886871>>3886877I was only considering parts of it, not as a wholegore/body horror is a bit too much
>>3886941>gore/body horror is a bit too muchIf it isn't overblown and is used in a suitably serious context, it can be good. Even Undertale of all games had a form of body horror with Undyne melting, and Deltarune hints at Kris losing a hand which implies it may well happen. And of course Undertale Yellow had it with Martlet being graphically impaled and killed. In fact the whole neutral ending of UTY is the sort of thing where if you write it out one would go, "no this is way too edgy, it would feel out of place" but it just works. It all comes down to execution.
>>3886968It comes down to execution, but that two page write up that anon presented was poorly executed and basically just fridged a cute and innocent character in a particularly brutal way for cheap shock value. I could some kind of body horror fitting in to the end of the designated evil route like that Amalgam Kanako boss fight idea tossed around for that UFY take, or like Martlet melting in the jaundice route. But it has to be the right character, in the right way, at the right time, in the right story, for the right reason. What he suggested was none of that.
Question for Oldentale anon regarding SURVEY_2: I've discovered some SDL 2 and 3 ports for Windows 9x. Assuming it works without issue, what are your thoughts on updating the engine's SDL dependency to 3.2? This would hypothetically broaden joystick compatibility and portability, as well as make coding certain subsystems easier (eg. audio, hardware rendering support). System requirements will remain the same. Also, it's time I give a status update on the project: to be honest, I have been taking a break on development for the last month. I hope to come back to it soon, whether it be working on the Kristal demo, the custom engine, or just posting any new concepts I brainstorm. No ETA for the next concept demo release, but it'll cover up until you enter the dark world for the first time. The subsequent (and final) update will cover everything up until entering the Card Kingdom from the first time.I apologise for continually making you wait and for reaffirming the naysayers.
>>3887196If it doesn't break anything I think it would be worth it, but I'd be extra sure before committing. Do you have a link to those ports?
undercreator demo should release on the 15th https://gamejolt.com/p/it-s-the-final-countdown-anxdzuikundertale plus will release in 2026 https://gamejolt.com/p/undertale-plus-devlog-13-release-date-in-2026-6fis2z2m
>>3887212>undercreatorDo you think we'll have more fangames and things to talka about once Undercreator releases?
>>3887230maybe in a year or two after its release. and even then I doubt we'll get that many, most of the people who wanted to make fangames are already making them, having easier tools won't change that much
>>3887230>>3887237btw, how hard can it be implementing new mechanics with this engine? like Wildfire's or Naranja's FIGHT system? because if its hard then we will end with samey fangames
what was the last DRY demo we had access to? I formatted my PC
>>3887252You can download it from the gamejolt page or the fangames archive https://rentry.org/mtt-fangames

>>3887331I'll see if I can find the image
>>3887332>>3887331that was much easier than I expected. old /v/ meme from back in the day
>>3887203https://github.com/nmlgc/SDLThe branches of note are SDL2_win9x and SDL3_win9x. At some point I'll poke around and see what works; definitely won't port anything over until I can confirm it fits all my use cases. Also worth noting is this pull request in the official SDL repo talking about DOS ports. Seems like there exists one for each major version, with varying degrees of functionality.https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/pull/13906>>3887334Weezing = Sneezing is underrated
