I tried to tell them, they didn't believe me, again.

Haachama has been acting like the self-deprecating crazy character for stream entertainment since forever, and this has cultivated an audience who likes her for that character. While I like that character, personally, my intrique and concern came from her trauma past which I related to, especially the feeling of isolation and disconnect from others when you lack normal childhood and adolescence. The parts of her telling stories about Philippines prison-like school and such, to me felt like cry for help disguised as a funny story, because it's difficult for her to express the genuine grief part because as an entertainer everything must be a joke and fun.

Basically, her past (which she has always been consistent about) is clearly full of traumatic experiences and the schizo arcs were always real, in the sense that it was based on her genuine self-expression, even though crafted into a commercial stream experience.

Whenever I've expressed genuine concern, I was shut down by people saying it was just acting. The EN community making fun of her English is basically a running gag, it's mildly funny but becomes excessive when they don't have any other way to engage with her. I was always a bit uncomfortable with it, but I didn't know what to do about it. Unless she's actually crying, nobody hears the pain behind her experiences, and when she does, haatons default to pacifying her with cheap platitudes. I think this drives away genuinely empathic people from her viewerbase, making things worse. This is why people who care, leave and only come back when she has a breakdown, because it's too painful to watch the unhealthy dynamic unfold on the daily.

In short, Haachama is a deeply troubled girl who uses her real distress as circus entertainment, and she does it because she has always done this and has nothing else good going on.

Also, this next part is kind of a personal rant, but psychiatry and mental wards are actually the most immoral, worst crime against humanity. Mental wards exist to help "normal" people feel good by controlling the lives of people whose feelings they are afraid of and don't understand, while giving the illusion that their targets of obsession are given good care. I've basically never heard anyone having a good experience being forcibly imprisoned and drugged with permanently brain-altering chemicals that are certainly not safe nor effective. (1/2)

When Haachama came back in 2023, she wasn't the same. She felt like a shell putting on a familiar routine while not understanding it anymore, not knowing her audience, not knowing Hololive. And as always, people thought she was just acting for content. Most likely she got chemically raped in a mental prison (you may use different language but I'm using that because that's what it actually is)and put on powerful antipsychotic drugs. It's also ironic how people who do/let this happen are completely unaware of what it's actually like and then label people who they traumatized with it as paranoid schizophrenics, like it's abnormal to not want it to happen to you.

She is the sweetest and most well-meaning girl, almost unprecedented for a modern woman. I don't remember her ever acting out of malice, nor has she ever reacted in a disproportionate or unfair way, the most extreme thing being the rap drama where she got the hate rap and had prepared her own hate track to get back at them. As an online celebrity, she has taken at least 5 times more beating than what she has sent back. Haachama never did or said anything wrong, so why is her life made to be hell? This is the reality she ranted about in the mental breakdown stream, the reality which most people are too weak to acknowledge. She was right about most things and it made me love her more.

I deeply regret not being able to communicate my genuine love, care and concern for her. I don't know what happened between 2023 and 2025 because I didn't watch her much, due to general falling off from vtubers and due to the aforementioned reason of it being just too hard to watch. Excuses I know. I'm sorry. I don't have money and I don't live in Japan and I don't understand half of what she's saying, so my ability to help are slim.

I hope she can safely get off the meds (cold turkey can cause brain damage), get away from her abusive family, find people she can trust and help her to live a healthy, dignified life. The challenge is that mentally "healthy" "normal" (unaware or desensitized) people lack the understanding to help her, and depressive realists and empaths who relate to her are likely too damaged themselves to be able to help her. The other challenge lifelong abuse victims can feel taxing to be around, which leaves mostly people who are in it for the fun and games or abuse. Most of all, I hope she doesn't get subjected to another round of mental prison chemical rape, next to that I hope she doesn't kill herself. She's a good-natured, young and attractive girl, it's not over for her yet if she leaves behind her abusive family, black company and unhealthy stream dynamics. (2/2)

This happened to a friend of mine. He had never had a panic attack, then the first time he tried mushrooms, had a panic attack and then continued to keep having them about once a month for several years after.
On the other hand, my sister fixed her fucked up life by doing shrooms a few times and reflecting a lot on why she wasn't happy and successful. She turned around her entire life, has a good job, married a guy who is WAY better than the losers she used to date, now expecting a kid.
It's cool that drugs somehow help some people, but it's not magic, and it can just as easily make things worse.

A bit bloggy, but it really reminds me of my mother when I was younger. She had a bunch of friends but one of the things said about her was that while they liked her, she was hard to stay friends with because she didn't really do the reaching back you need to do to stay friends and connected with people. Then there was a period where she became more emotionally volatile, cut off all contact with the friends she had and it culminated in a huge breakdown where she went around the house just smashing things and crying about how she's a complete failure fuckup and nobody really cares about her before locking herself in the bathroom and trying to kill herself. My dad broke in and stopped her and went through the process of getting her on meds, going to therapy etc. and while I won't pretend it just completely solves everything and makes you a perfectly happy all the time outgoing person, she hasn't had any breakdowns or episodes since.

While I can't really truly understand what Haachama is going through, it still makes me believe that Haachama can get back on track.

Queen of controversy does it again. I believe shell be here at least another three years as she has said many times before.

No. A lot of people seem to be suggesting she goes solo, but that would almost certainly be worse. Cover obviously will do whatever they think is best for Cover, but people in a situation like Haachama’s are much better off *with* expectations and structure and workloads imposed on them. They just need to be calibrated correctly. Take those few structures she has on hand, away, and she will be truly in the void, with nothing to hang on to. That’s much more likely to get her spiraling and into a much darker place. Sadly, it’s true that the Japanese are woefully underqualified to deal with mental health. Just in general they’re terrible at care, never mind something as complicated and hard to navigate as mental care. Let’s hope they manage it. Unlike other people in here or twitter, I actually don’t think Chama is so terribly unwell. I think she’s very manageable—more manageable than, for example, michael cat—but it’s a matter of finding the people able and willing to do the managing.

This whole situation is why I believe that the whole idol industry and its surrounding culture needs to be banned or more strictly regulated for minors.
I think many of you here would agree with the idea that vtubers and idols are expected to sell the girlfriend experience and the "gachikoi" element is part of that. Isn't this basically prostitution? They are selling not their bodies but the experience. This makes the fact that she was apparently signed as a minor predatory from the company and highly questionable to me.
Just to be clear, there is nothing wrong with 16 year olds having natural relationships, it's the prostitution aspect that is wrong.
These young women grow up to be warped and psychologically damaged.
Akai Haato/Haachama is just another victim of the exploitative industry. It doesn't help that Japan doesn't deal well with people who suffer from mental illnesses and development disorders.
