Post your vector requests and recently done vectors here.
Previous Thread >>2077071

READ THE OP BEFORE POSTING!

>Before requesting, here are some tips:
– Request an image ONCE per thread. Do not bump or second - once is enough.
– Check the lists below to see if your request has already been previously fulfilled.
– All requests are welcome, within reason, but remember:
– The poorer the quality of an image (in resolution and drawing ability), the less likely it will be picked up. The more detail seen and higher the resolution, the better.
– Full-body images preferred. Images cut off on 3 or more sides are very unlikely to be picked up due to their limited usage; keep this in mind when finding an image to request. (Hair or skirt edges that are barely cut off don't usually count)
– Requests for removing the background from an image (called a RENDER) and resizing requests should go to the IMT threads.
– Refrain from using renders for requests. Try to find the original non-rendered image; it is easier for vectorists to work with.
– Note: Overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up due to their nature. IF your request is taken, please have patience.

this might be an odd request, but I will order an OL DAC and engrave it with a Ryuko image, but I still can't decide which one. I will post two examples of what I like, could you give me your opinion? Also, are these good vectors? One of them was a "frist vector" from a dude on deviantart.

There are a lot of Ryuko vectors in the Gdrive thread archive in OP, if you don't like any of the ones you've got.

As for which one would look best? Man that's your call. I'd personally not want one cut off on a bunch of sides but that's just me.

Also make sure you send them a greyscale image, so you know exactly what to expect from the engraving.

Your request isn't something that can be vectored easily without it looking like trash. It essentially needs an entire redraw which requires 3x more work than just a regular image.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but I'm being honest when I'd say you'll have more luck getting a request done with something a lot cleaner and sharply drawn than that.

I definitely could spend another 2 months adding and refining this to be exactly like the original image but its very time consuming. Overall I think it does a good job at capturing what made the original good while translating into a vector.

>>
>>2088479

If you are a beginner:

1. Take it slow

2. Don't use strokes

3. Remember: parallel nodes, parallel handles

4. Use the bare minimum number of nodes as possible to get the smoothest possible line.

5. Try to maintain a relative line consistency

I second what >>2088481 said, watch some videos and practice.

not that I know of... you get used to drawing the handles parallel after a while.

Also worth noting that it's not necessary for the handles to be 100% parallel, they just need to be relatively parallel in order for the line to be consistent.

Am I shit? This is my attempt at the vector tutorial in the OP. Criticism is welcome. I know...the eyes are wonky.
>>
>>2088676
This isn't really that bad especially for a first attempt.

I think you have the right idea not using strokes. There are a lot of little things you could do to clean up the image I think you might be better served by doing more vectors.

If you do another vector try to get a consistent line thickness through as that will really help make your work look polished. Also don't be afraid to experiment with different ways of coloring. You can add a lot of depth with a few gradient meshes and masks.

There are a few things I'd vector differently, not sure if it'd be an improvement or anything though. Main thing is the color balancing but considering you improvised from a sketch it's pretty good.

I'd make my outlines darker, especially for her face and hair since her eyes are so dark compared to everything else. I'd probably also make her eyes a bit lighter colored but I'd have to tinker around until I like the result, her eyelashes might be too light too compared to her eyes, not too sure. I'd make her tongue not as bright since it contrasts with the brown of the inside of her mouth. I'd also make her nails more detailed on her fingers. Some details I think you might have missed that I think would improve the vector are the folds on the inside of her shirt looks a bit too flat without those and only a simple gradient. I'd also make the stripes on her shirt pink like on her shorts and probably make her swimsuit closer in brightness to those too. The blush is a bit too harsh to my liking too, so that would be toned down.

This vector looks fine but if you are looking to have a result with more impact, remember that the image you picked is pretty simple in itself. Unless you extrapolate on the shading that's already there and add tons of details from imagination, it probably will look a bit basic.

Requesting. Don't think it'd be hard to do. Most of the font files from the Madoka wiki have been killed so this is the best I can get.
>>
>>2090915
Whoops, uploaded the one with transparency.
>>

Also not sure if this helps or not, but to create this I literally just used this font in like size 400 to type "homura" in all lowercase.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n6ys414nviitr9y/MadokaRunes-2.0.ttf

From what I looked up, it's easier to make literal text front a font file into vectors? I'm 100% inexperienced with this and haven't even touched Illustrator before.

Here you go!

I feel like it came out quite good. I did modify a few things:

- Right shoulder as well as the thumb on her hand holding the pen were slightly altered to make them a bit more natural.

- Extended it a bit on the bottom to have the pen completed.

- Altered a bit the coloring on the face. Felt it looked odd.

- Removed the weird orange highlights on the hard edges of the shadows. (I didn't really like how they looked...)

Feel free to let me know if there is anything you want changed. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
>>
>>2091308
Very good. The only thing I can see is the slightly different coloring on the body outline under the shirt. It clashes a bit with the dark lines on the rest of the shirt.

Thanks for the feedback.
I made them lighter so that they have a little more emphasis. Had I left them dark like in the source, I feel like it would have been too chaotic. This way it's a lot easier to differentiate the subtle curves of the body.

Also I noticed I misplaced one of said lines on the right hand... reuploaded with that fixed.
>>
>>2091045
Yes, unless the words are highly stylized or impossible to find a font for, text in vectors should always be made from text elements and existing fonts. It's very hard to vector text by hand as precisely as a typeface.

In this case, the font you used is obviously fan-created. Meaning it was vectored by someone and then converted into a font. Whether to use the existing font or to trace it yourself in this case is totally up to your taste and whether or not you think the existing font is up to acceptable levels of quality (I think it's fine).

Alright lets see:

The text itself looks fine.

As for the cups in the center, it seems that you might have gone too far trying to perfectly imitate their shapes. Making the lines smoother and trying to use one shape per part might help out a bit.

What i mean with the last part is that, for example, it looks like you are using continuous shapes to make the body and handles. Look at the teapot on the right, the thick line on the body of the kettle looks extremely jagged where it joins at the top of the handle. Making that line independent and smooth, then adding the handle would make it look a lot better.

Take a look at the attached image that shows how I made the cup and kettle. Notice how every color is an independent shape. This allows me to make smooth lines where they're needed and lets the curves flow naturally.
