>>7685419>1440likely not, typically those structures are picked out through wavelengths that may not be visible to the naked eye. Additionally they may be shifted, obscured, or blocked out entirely by intercepting bodies. They may also be added digitally after the fact, to replicate the wavelengths at which the object was observed. Typically these images are almost like collages from long exposure times, so we kind of start with 1's and 0's and snag data out of that, the image we (as non-professional astronomers/astrophysicists) enjoy are kind of neat little byproducts.
there was a moon-wallpaper here that I saved, but I had to format my SSD and lost it. It was the moon with long shadows on the surface. From rocks and such. The shadows went upwards in the picture. And the moon was in center and took up alot of the image. Anyone got it?
Jesus christ. We're just floating around in a great gaping void.
>>7711254Our spaceship is pretty swell though, I'm a fan of the on-board food chain and oxygen-replenishing biosphere.
>>7711254... and all the good stuff is far, far away.
Does anyone else have a pretty hard time looking at pictures of space? Not art of space, that's fine, but stuff like >>7685199 and >>7685227 really bothers me for some reason. It's no emotional thing, but I have to close my eyes after a second or look away
>>7711701No, but they’re actually fairly low res images and most of the colours are not their in real life. It’s added later to show what regions emit invisible portions of the EM spectrum. So yeah, I’d prefer to use a piece of digital space art that was created to look visually appealing, if not completely scientifically accurate
