Did you remember that time when you were young? when you were playing outside in the park or in the parking lot of the mall, it was getting dark and the streetlights switch on and that was your cue to get back home? Wallpapers with that feel, I feel nostalgic

wow
how can I get back to that mental state of deep optimism, inner coziness and so on? I remember when winter came, I'd breathe in that cold air that had that winter-specific smell, I'd walk in the parks, I remember that exact scene in that pic, that of a light illuminating the trees, heavy snowfall, cold but not too cold (bearable without having to cover your face)
lots of mystery, optimism, lots of possibilities, hope (you could say), feeling in tune, everything going in the right direction, just minor amounts of self doubt or fear, no dread, perfect coziness, the wind blowing, snowflakes dancing in the air, you could watch this shit for hours, it was just so peaceful and mesmerizing, in such a way that it just made my mind perfectly still. Every breath I'd take would purify my mind, made me stiller, more fascinated with the immediate surroundings. Then everything made sense. Those benches, the light poles, technology, cables around me, the houses. How to get back to that?

I still manage to get this feeling every fall and early winter. There were a few years where my life was unstable and I was in a bad mental state where I lost that feeling but now I've got it back. It's one of the best things in the world, taking a long walk on a slightly chilly fall day with a light jacket and looking forward to life.

My recommendation is to live somewhere where it's nice to take walks. And then make it a point to just go for an hour walk a couple times a week. Listen to some music that resonates with you. Take deep breaths. You can get that feeling back.

Anyway, that's the feeling I try to capture in photographs so I'll post some that I have taken.

I have a 4TB hard drive full of my favorite movies, tv shows, documentaries and everything else. I use the Kodi media app to watch stuff. There's an add on for Kodi called PseudoTV Live that I just got that's amazing.

Basically you can take your entire media library and make customized channels from it, and then channel surf through those channels. And when you flip to a channel, whatever show or movie is on that channel will already be playing. And if you flip away and come back to it, it's as though it kept playing. There's something so comfortable about just turning it on and flipping through the channels and finding something obscure that I probably never would have picked to watch.

It takes a little bit of work to get set up but if you're like me and have a huge media library but can never decide what you want to watch. I highly recommend it. This winter is going to be comfy.

HOWEVER
I always found this a vital part of teenage anxiety that I feel a lot of nostalgia for. It's the feeling I get when I go back and watch the music video to Jesus of Suburbia again. Sure, I did hate my hometown more often than not, but from that hate came some pretty incredible nights of trying to cope with my friends, who all felt the same.

>>halloween is coming so the school work is slowing down for for fun holiday themed activities
Growing up in a tropical country, I always envied the Americans and Europeans I saw on TV, because they had distinct seasons. Autumn and Winter were my favourites. I wanted to see the leaves turn red, feel the chill in the air, and enjoy a spooky season of ghosts and vampires with my friends.
Now that I immigrated to New England, I can say that I truly love the Autumn. I love walking with my friends in cold nights. I love having a bonfire with them in a chill October evening in a small town in the middle of nowhere. I love the colonial architecture and the churches. I love the somber Puritan aesthetics and tales of the past. I truly love consider this "God's country". I want to raise my kids here and have them experience it at all.
>>
>>7829631
Been a native RI'er for 50+ years and i can say new England has a certain magic about it. When I was younger you could see the 4 distinct seasons. Now it's just 3. Winter and then Spring is hardly there and then Summer, then Autumn and then the colder weather starts coming near the end of October.

>>

wood smoke is nice along with the smell of fallen leaves and cow manure laid down in late April. The smell of pine trees. AT my grandmother's house she would open up the window in warmer weather and there was a liliac tree that reached to the window and when that thing blossomed you could smell the beautiful scent of that plant.
